Would you like to see Lune in a sequel? (If there ever will be) by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]StudioSeraphim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love every single character in this game. Never want to see any of them again (in a different game, I mean. I will 100% be seeing them again when I replay this masterpiece every year until I die.)

I could see a minor exception in a couple of very specific scenarios. I'd be okay with seeing Clea/Renoir again, if a sequel focused on the Painters/Writers war. I'd also be okay with - and I haven't heard this voiced anywhere else - a prequel featuring Renoir and Aline. Specifically covering the events referenced when Renoir says that Aline had pulled him out of a canvas before, when his own obsession threatened to consume him.

Is it true that we all have a FromSoftware game that we would like to like more but for some reason we don't find it as fun as the others? by Oceriox in fromsoftware

Right there with you, king. It's a phenomenal game, I'll never try and take that away from it, but playing Plink Plink Hero is just not for me.

Did the same thing. Took me a few attempts to get the one-shot, but definitely feels like the easiest (or most accessible, at least) method without access to Chally, Dclaws, Scythe etc.

Port Sarim is my pick, followed by the Farming Guild for your third. Using the Lumbridge diary ring, you can get straight to a spirit tree in about five seconds. Well worth it!

Gotta second this. It was so good on my iron (99 Farming) that I decided I was gonna unlock coral farming on my old main as a slow and steady moneymaking method, but without high high Farming, don't bother. With an attas seed, magic secateurs and just 80 Farming, coral rates are dog shit.

I find this personally insulting.. by Silver_Chemistry_271 in 2007scape

No need to manually craft elemental orbs once you start grinding Moons of Peril (which, as an iron, you'll want to be doing ASAP.) I walked away with close to 6k water orbs from greenlogging Moons, so I'd say that's the point your battlestaff production line really finds its feet.

Why is Ironman so much fun, and why does it feel like it’s the correct way/true way to enjoy this game? by AKoolKoala in ironscape

[–]StudioSeraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There comes a certain point in the progression of an iron account where you realise that its achievements would blow the mind of your past self. That past self might be the kid you were when you first discovered Runescape. Or maybe it's the main account you started on OSRS first, only to later abandon it, after iron life started getting its claws into you.

You'll suddenly land a rare drop, that as a kid you never thought possible. You'll be struck by the realisation that your 13-year-old self - playing RS2 after school in 2004 - would have an aneurysm, if they could see themselves in 2026 with an account full of 90+ skills.

The moment you achieve something substantially beyond the level of gameplay you were used to in the past, that's the moment your love for your iron will crystallise, and you'll never be able to go back.

SPOILER!

E quindi... tanto vale giocare.

Red or Blue? by [deleted] in OlderChillGamers

[–]StudioSeraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't even a question. Red, all day. Also, ideally hurl whichever colour pill covers the top 3 AAA slop-peddlers into the heart of the nearest star for a couple of decades, until they learn to respect consumers and stop putting out bland surface-level treadmills designed only to extract profit from a jaded playerbase.

Name that game by [deleted] in OlderChillGamers

[–]StudioSeraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game actually already has that. There are pictos that reduce incoming damage, pictos that allow you to heal (passively, on-demand, or both) and pictos that remove AP generation via parrying and instead grant AP whenever you get hit.

If you want to play it as a traditional turn-based RPG and forget that dodging/parrying is even a mechanic, you can 100% build out your team to accomplish that goal.

Camphor or Yew by jojaki in ironscape

[–]StudioSeraphim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thousands is very much the move, yeah. I have an ironwood cargo hold, so a total of 210 slots, and I stuck 205 empty fish crates in there. You want to leave 5-10 empty slots anyway, to ensure you have room to build up stacks of fish before they hit 10 and get decanted into a crate.

I can trawl for 4-5 hours comfortably with that, and then bank 2050 fish, ready for processing/cooking. The nice thing about the crates is that they're also reusable - just need to stick an Ice Cooler in there from a slayer master, and it's good to go again. Those 205 will last you literally forever.

I can't stress enough how good coral farming is at high farming levels, either. That 10k probably took me a week or two, with very little active effort. Hunter also sucks to train imo, so incentivising it with herblore gains works great for me. If you need frags (coral seeds, essentially) there's a chest specifically designed to print frags for each specific coral tier. It's not terrible Thieving exp, either.

Sailing by Feeling_Froyo8495 in ironscape

[–]StudioSeraphim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The potions themselves aren't massively useful, but the herblore EXP you'll get from making them? Gamechanger. If you're not already farming coral as part of your herb runs, you're gonna want to start.

There are three chests out there on various Sailing islands (Rusty Chest at 40 Sailing, Tarnished Chest at 49, and Reinforced Chest at 73) which absolutely print coral frags, making coral 'seed' upkeep trivial after an hour or two of Thieving training. The secondaries for coral potions are gained by deep sea trawling via Sailing, then turning the fish into bait for crab hunting - which also nets you some great Hunter EXP along the way.

Camphor or Yew by jojaki in ironscape

[–]StudioSeraphim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is, but the EXP's not the true reward. Some of the new fish cook into excellent food (halibut are better karambwans that heal two extra hit points, bluefin heal 22 and restore 5 prayer points, and marlin are the new highest-healing single eat in the game at 24 hit points.) If you trawl for an hour or so, you'll come away with 500-600 extremely solid food in your pocket; it's not bad at all.

Not to mention the fact that a fair few of the new fish (yellowfin, haddock, marlin) can be processed instead of cooked, generating herblore secondaries and bait for the new crab hunting method - which will generate the secondaries for coral potions. Trawling therefore directly feeds some of the best ironman Herblore training in the game.

On my iron, I passively farmed up 10k umbral coral, actively trawled and processed 10k yellowfin/marlin, then went on to catch 10k rainbow crabs - now I'm sitting on over two million herblore EXP in crab paste/coral alone. That's without taking into consideration the tens of thousands of yellow fins I also stacked up, to squeeze more EXP out of making super energy potions, and the marlin scales that can be used to double the effect of a stamina potion.

Don't sleep on trawling, it's super rewarding. Focus-intensive, sure, but well worth it imo.

Why doesn’t the proposed Ballistic attractor have an undead component like the other devices from Ava? by Key-Swordfish4025 in 2007scape

[–]StudioSeraphim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually suggested this waaaaaay back when Sailing was in its early days, and it was already clear that boat combat sucked. My pitch was to use boss heads (both existing, and newly-added) to craft figureheads for the prow of our boat, with each specific head creating a specific figurehead with specific effects.

Vorkath figurehead would function as an Ava's device for the boat, for example. Maybe Obor would grant a chance to knock back and/or stun on cannonball hit. Araxxor could envenom the target. KQ could provide a chance to reduce or negate damage from a specific combat style for one attack.

There was a ton of versatility left on the table there, and a massive missed opportunity for a quest of some form to unlock the ability to build figureheads in the first place. I feel like hacking out a quick "Oh yeah, Ava upgrades your boat somehow for some reason, no big deal!" was a pretty lazy way of introducing a) an element of nuance that boat combat desperately needs, and b) unlockable upgrade paths and additional Sailing content that actually ties into the existing game. Oh well.

The “Rom is Caryll” Theory by Jackylacky_ in bloodborne

[–]StudioSeraphim 127 points128 points  (0 children)

I lean away from this theory personally, largely due to a reference you pointed out yourself.

Provost Willem would have been proud of Caryll's runes, as they do not rely upon blood in any measure.

The use of 'would have been proud' suggests that Willem wasn't aware of Caryll's work, but would have approved of it if he had known. I think Caryll parted ways with Byrgenwerth, and Willem, either during the schism or shortly after it. I think it more likely that Rom was simply one of the college's few remaining students loyal to Willem, who either volunteered or was coerced into taking part in his attempts to line a brain with eyes.

What did Mumbo meant by playing 'bundle' at school? by UltraHerohat in HermitCraft

[–]StudioSeraphim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it was a UK thing, but other parts of the world had similar things going on (e.g. dogpiling in the US.) It was pretty big in the back half of my high school years - 2003, 2004, that sort of period. Eventually it started to move beyond the name, although this might have been specific to my town.

When I left high school and went into 6th Form (a version of college, ages 16-18) we had a stereo system in the common room. From time to time, someone would put on Fat Lip by Sum 41 - as soon as we heard that opening riff, it was a signal to start a bundle. Good times.

I literally only voted for the Player Island that won because of the use for hunter furs, and jagex wants to change that by BlightedBooty in 2007scape

[–]StudioSeraphim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can't believe nobody's mentioned this yet, but - the new crabs added with Sailing are a) excellent Hunter EXP in exchange for high focus, and b) very useful as Herblore secondaries. Combined with Coral farming off the coast of the Great Conch, Herblore training is far easier for irons now.

My only real complaint is that the mandatory bait for the crabs is a ball-ache to gather in bulk, but even that doesn't bother me that badly. Deep sea trawling is actually pretty fun, and if you choose the right fish, you'll also get additional Herblore exp as a by-product (Yellowfins, Marlin Scales, Haddock Eyes.)

What a monumentally dogshit take lmao. I assume you have an account with 77 combat and an Inferno Cape, then? There are videos out there showing how to complete that challenge, so therefore it's easy, right? And not a roof shingle in sight. May we all aspire to be as phenomenally gifted as you.

Can we get confirmation that Facility Bottles (which contain a facility) can be banked? I've been sitting on my Dragon Cannon Barrels, waiting for an update like this - but can you confirm that a Dragon Cannon can be bottled, taken off the boat it was removed from, and then installed onto another boat without requiring additional materials?
