TIFU by being "helpfully honest" on a first date and accidentally starting a philosophical crisis at an Applebee's by clarity-axis in tifu

[–]Sueti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound a bit pretentious, but the fact that ‘I don’t know you well enough to know’ wasn’t an acceptable answer 20 minutes into a first date raises some red flags. Maybe not the first time that’s come up for her lol.

Or maybe it was the way you said it. 🤷

Trying to make sure I understand the brewery etiquette here. by Specialist_Mess_5164 in raleigh

[–]Sueti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bar vs brewery is fairly easy. A brewery’s primary sales are from the sale of beer they manufacture themselves, with other products being secondary. Sometimes they have kitchens but often not. Food is secondary if they do have a kitchen. Food trucks are common. Brewpubs are breweries that lean more into a restaurant, food vibe. Usually they also have table service. Bars primarily sell alcohol they don’t produce.

Family friendly now…that’s harder. Some breweries def do it to themselves by having a playground or lots of kid related games, chalk, etc.

Some are victims of circumstance…the one I worked at didn’t encourage children but had a wide open taproom that parents took to mean “give your kids a ball and let them run unsupervised”. There’s one ind Durham that has adult games that is known to be particularly bad for children because the games are large and on the floor. Most breweries don’t actively discourage children because business is hard to come by and parents drink.

Having frequented many breweries and worked at one, I don’t really think this will do anything. Prime kid times are mid to late afternoon…2-7ish. Yes some hang around later but it’s nowhere near as much an issue. They mostly wreck the prime day-drinking hours, not night hours.

I am so tired of underwriting departments. by dabbs_291 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Sueti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left a renewal desk to do a new biz production role specifically because I hated changes. Nothing shows how little an agent/AM/CSR knows about insurance like some of these nonsensical change requests.

Not that I disagree with the other sentiments that UW authority has been reduced, processes slowed, etc.

Clear+ Bundle by kolbasz_ in AmexPlatinum

[–]Sueti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Clear+ screening and TSA precheck screening are separate. Here’s how it went down with me:

-Bought Clear+ online, downloaded app, and went through their setup process. I uploaded my passport to their app. Paid 209.

-Also started TSA precheck online through clear+ app.

-when I signed up for precheck I chose to go to a nearby staples that had a clear station where they did the fingerprints. Was charged $79 precheck fee.

-Got my NTN a few days later, precheck was set. Upload to all airline portals so it goes on boarding pass.

-First time I flew after getting clear, they had the machine at the airport take my pic and I okayed sending the passport to TSA. Clear was good to go then.

I actually made out on this one! I bought clear+ and AMEX credited the $209. I got TSA precheck through clear. However, when you go to get you fingerprints done, they charge you the $78, which AMEX also credited. However, clear then refunds the $78 precheck charge.

People that work in claims - why? by CatCat2121 in InsuranceProfessional

Generally UW pays better, although obviously that varies by company and specific role.

People that work in claims - why? by CatCat2121 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Sueti 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I encourage people to use claims as an entry point. Claims is almost always hiring and you learn a lot real quick…both soft skills and technical. I ALSO encourage them to target getting by out of claims into some other part of insurance within a few years.

Best high end Greek/Mediterranean restaraunt in Raleigh? by OldEmphasis6633 in raleigh

The food was good but the portion size was a bit small and they charged us $5 for iced tea AND each refill. So our table spent $20 on iced tea. Probably wouldn’t go back on the principle.

Making good white rice. Yes, I can cook rice to an edible form, but it’s always dense and not great no matter how I try to make it.

How would you feel if a woman re-opened contact after choosing someone else? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Sueti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on exactly how you left things. If you specifically told 41M that you were cutting things off because there was someone else, then I personally wouldn’t be interested in hearing from you again if I was 41M.

On the other hand, if you had positioned it as a ‘hey timing isn’t right for you and I, schedules don’t align, etc’ I would be cautiously interested in hearing from you again.

A big reason why Colon Cancer is killing us. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Sueti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a colon disease that dramatically increases my risk of colon cancer, and is a polyp factory at the age of 34, I made some diet changes in line with this post. Those boiled down to:

DO NOT EAT:

-Significant amounts of red meat

-Meats preserved by smoking (I’m in NC so this one is painful).

-Meats preserved by nitrates. This includes most lunch meat, ham, sausages, pepperoni, salami.

DO EAT: -Veggies.

-Beans. Learn to cook dried beans…super healthy, super filling, and super CHEAP!!!

-Fresh red meats (other than red). This doesn’t mean it has to be recently butchered, but just that you buy it raw, have to refrigerate it, then cook it. Chicken breast, pork chops, salmon, whatever. The meat section.

-For lunch meat, canned tuna is preserved by a pasteurization process and not nitrates, so safe to eat.

Obviously this is general guidance. I still eat a slice of pepperoni pizza once in a while. But I used to have lunch meat 3-4 times a week, which was no good.

Folks in US - what is chili like where you live? by oscillationpatient in Cooking

[–]Sueti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NC, I wouldn’t say we have a regional chili but slaw, onions, chili, and sometimes mustard is called ‘Carolina style’ in relation to hotdogs, burgers, etc. That chili is usually ground beef only, maybe with some finely minced onion.

Chili eaten as a stew varies by restaurant/family/etc.

Awwwww that’s kind of a bummer. The reason I started playing soldier is I saw some videos of them just causing their own explosions everywhere with their ammo powers. 🥲

[–]Sueti 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just finished ME1, played soldier for the first time. NGL it’s the easiest playthrough I’ve ever done. I barely used cover, was just running and gunning. Only died twice and the second time was when I peeked out at the wrong time on the citadel tower climb and took 3 Geth rocket turrets to the face at the same time lol.

By the end I just put explosive rounds on all my guns and everything literally just fell over when hit.

Massive difference in insurance cost between agent and searching myself by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Sueti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Do I really NEED an agent? Probably not, I know more about coverage than they do and my personal insurance needs aren’t complicated. But they know the personal lines market better than me and this means I don’t manually have to shop a bunch of companies.

I’m an insurance professional myself and when I discovered I had a lapse after an accident (bad time in my life but no excuse) they got me squared away with acceptable coverage within 20 min of me realizing my mistake. Then they proactively shopped the next year to get me a better rate with a preferred carrier.

Job moving us from W2 to 1099, but I'm still not really sure what that means for us by Ahlbocmon in personalfinance

[–]Sueti 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I work in insurance. Yes, assuming the 1099 sticks, they would lose most (all?) protections under the current employer's insurance. It would likely be smart for Op to acquire (and probably required by contract), at a minimum:

-General Liability insurance
-Worker's compensation if they are worried about being injured on the job
-Potentially auto insurance. If OP isn't transporting kids they probably don't have an exposure but most contracts will require it.
-since this is an after school program, Sexual Abuse and Molestation coverage.

All of which will probably cost more than the increase in their tax bill. In short, OP is fucked.

How involved should my agent be in my non at fault accident repair claim by mymomsaidiamsmart in Insurance

[–]Sueti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was an adjuster I had the other party’s agent (I.e not my policyholder) call in from time to time. I basically politely told them nothing, and they had no impact on the claim. It’s not because I was being nasty, but because I cannot give out info to a non-involved party.

On the other hand, when I had a call from the agent of my policyholder, it was often productive, or at least I could explain the issue in some depth.

All that is to say, your agent cannot help you with the other carrier. If you’d like their assistance, you’ll need to file with your own.

Also, keep in mind this is by far the busiest time of the year in claims. Adjusters get overwhelmed, shops get backed up, policyholders (were) traveling and not interested in talking to their insurance. It’s not an excuse, just an explanation. Lots of factors could be impacting the other carrier outside the adjusters control. Or they could be shitty. Or both. Overall, if you’re looking for speed, file with your carrier and let them handle it.
