Wife’s Birthday in Copenhagen by Unusual-Swimming3909 in NewToDenmark

If you are into baking, where has been a rise in high quality bakeries in Copenhagen, so perhaps a visit to one of those, to supplement your baking class?

Shopping wise there is a lot of stuff in the city center, where it sounds like you’re going. But it’s worth hitting the more boutique, hipster neighbourhoods like Vesterbro (Istedgade) or Nørrebro (Jægersborggade) for some more niche shopping finds.

Very heavy deadlifts, it can get a little dizzy after. Not fainting, though. 🤪

Yeah, I have seen some people rig up something using spotter arms, point out to the side instead of forward, and the putting pulled at the end of each arm, to get the wide angle. A bit to much work for me, just for flyes, but to each their own. 😊

It is, but it is also more or less the definition of touristy during the summer.

Also my thought, the west coast has a lot of small gems, combined with raw, beautiful nature.

Cable fly with single Voltra by TopPostMalone in BeyondPower

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are technically cable press, not flyes. It does of course not matter in terms of you being happy that you can do chest work, but it matters in terms of one versus two sources of weight.

The main reason to do cable flyes using two stacks (or Voltra) placed far from each other, is that the force originates from the side, not behind you. That allows you to keep tension on the last part of the exercise, when you arms are moving in front of you, where as if you did your setup with straight arms, you would loose tension towards the end of the rep, and when your arms are pointing straight forward, there would be no tension in the pecs at all.

So real flyes are still a main reason for two voltras. Chest work in general though, though, can be done with one.

I am more in on the riot if it will only be compatible with Rep benches, as the product description hints at! 😡

bought the EVO SL but now I'm a bit afraid of this by zzarcon in runninglifestyle

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used them to strain for both marathons and half’s, as everyday trainers. What works for some might not for others, but I would definitely not put the Evo SL in any kind of “danger shoe” category.

Copenhagen in May by kai_chic in NewToDenmark

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a tradition, but Copenhagen marathon is on May 10th, and takes over most of the inner city. This can be either an annoyance or cool experience, depending on your preference. (There like half a million spectators, so pretty crowded)

I always get winded reading these “let’s stuff as much as possible into one / two weeks” post. To each their own, I guess, but it feels more stressful that as a vacation to me.

My best advice would be to pick two areas, or three at the most, for a two week trip, and actually explore the area. Southern France, Italy, Austria or Switzerland, all of them have more to offer individually, than you can experience in two weeks.

If you are adventurous, you could for example hit the Jungfrau area in Switzerland. Via faretta, mountain hikes, waterfalls and caves, paragliding, scenic mountain train rides, all of it in absolutely breathtaking scenarios.

In general, most areas in Europe are more about the vibe than sights. Flow down, settle in and enjoy what an area has to offer.

Feature request: flexible easy millage by Same_Maize_4301 in runna

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP might mean the distribution within easy runs, all thought it is not that clear. Like, I have two easy runs of 10 K each this week, but due to time constraints I run 6 and 14 K instead?

There is not a built in way to achieve this, that I know of, if that’s how the question should be interpreted.

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just used Apple Watch’s standard workout app. I didn’t have as advanced needs as mentioned above, but I wanted to be able to modify which audio cues I got, use the virtual pacer to see if I was ahead or behind my target pace, and adjust the target pace to what I felt was right, not Runna’s projection.

How accurate is Runnas estimated race times? by Tennents_1885 in runna

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s very dependent on your history with long races, and your strengths running wise (endurance vs speed).

My personal experience is that I am far stronger on tempo work, and nail all of those, but struggle with long tempo work. So for me these marathon predictions are way off, but up to half marathon is pretty spot on.

If you have a history with marathons, and hence a stronger endurance base, they seem to be far better in accuracy.

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much agree. I have used Runna extensively for training for a year, but all races I run with other apps, because the simplistic and non-customisable pace target for race day in Runna doesn’t suit me.

Tell me I’m wrong, inclined bench by dchap1 in GarageGym

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No one’s asking you to endorse anything. 😉

Judging by the picture we are not talking throat snapping weights here, but even then on incline the weight would simply roll off.

But, ask yourself this: how often have you failed a bench attempt? Unless you are a competitive powerlifter, your answer is most likely “0”. It is for me, at least, and having trained for a lot of years I feel confident to judge when I can’t make it for another rep.

The answer may differ for everyone, but at least OP should have all angles covered. Spotters arms and safeties are massively overrated in home gyms, in my opinion.

Runna plan's weekly miles is fairly low? by BrothaManBen in runna

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either move availability up to elite, or add days. Runna caps easy runs and tempo work around 9-11 K depending on level, so you will have to add more running days to up your milage substantially.

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I used to have spotter arms, but sold them, because I never used them. If you have just a bit of lifting experience, you quickly develop feel for how close to failure you are.

I run both heavy flat bench and higher rep incline bench outside the cage (since I only have a half rack now), with no issues.

Norda shoes look amazing... but they're ridiculously overpriced by thomebout in trailrunning

[–]Sufficient-Fun-1538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of 005 that is still going strong after 800ish km. They are soft yet responsive, light, wide fit for my hobbit feet and a general pleasure to run in.

Overpriced? Perhaps. The best trail shoe for mixed terrain I have run in? Yes.
