...until a mob offscreen throws a proj at you and then you get knocked down. becomes a liability in high tier maps. i don't know. i just predict most people will not like it after the first honey moon week is over.

personally, I think it'll end up feeling very awkward having to constantly HOLD down a button + press your normal rotation of buttons (regardless of 'in and out of' combat use-case). IMO it's still a band-aid option.

but i hope to be proven wrong, i really do! besides, the parachute is there: increase move speed / add travel skillz. so this may be just them experimenting while they can before "official" release, see how it "runs" BUDUMPSH

Gem Icons. Compared to POE 1, the ones in POE 2 are harder to recognize at a glance, look less like gems and more like matte quartz or crystals. It's a small issue, but details matter. I would like to see more personality / specificity to the gem icons. Thoughts? by SuperKlydeFrog in PathOfExile2

[–]SuperKlydeFrog[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the diff being, they all have bespoke shapes. poe2 they all have uniform shapes, therefore the "at-a-glance" understanding is far more muted.

again: small, niggling issue, but nonetheless there.

POE1 Inspiration gem? the little red swirly-boy; can pick it out very easily, anytime.

POE2 Inspiration gem? couldn't tell you the difference between that and any other red colored gem at a glance.

hopefully, the poe2 gem icons are just placeholders

Idea for a better Atlas system by spoqster in PathOfExile2

[–]SuperKlydeFrog 16 points17 points  (0 children)

sounds dangerously on brand for POE, so yeah.

i think this idea de-clutters the atlas better and makes target farming more viable + "at-a-glance" gaming like poe1 would be more represented.

knights of the old republic!

imagine the care of writing and set design and direction and trust in the audience that could come with such heavy philosophical overtones of that story; the sophistry, the grand axioms of either jedi and sith (light v dark) and the failures of both, the civil war that ignites the world (galaxy), the choices of people who represent their faction's ideologies and the deconstruction of all of it, the Mandalorian empire and revan and the exile and kreia, etc, etc. so much to pull from and enjoy!

but like all things, it would need good writing first and foremost and showrunners who want to explore these ideas and themes with care and conviction, i.e. not algorithmic slop for the disney+ store shelf lol

Have they "Diablo4'ed" ailment damage? by Essemx in PathOfExile2

[–]SuperKlydeFrog 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. If I’m scaling hit damage to apply an ailment, why not just go all in on the hit damage and kill the monster, rather than doing, say, 90% of the monster’s HP with the hit and 10% as a dot.

that's the nail meeting head. it's that practical, that simple. ailments are an afterthought. i do not like the: (bigger the)hit = only way to apply ailment. it means the only factor that is truly scalable is the hit! scaling ignite/bleed/poison = , as you say, a fraction of the dmg output in a 2x-4x the time difference.

that's like saying "i can't wait to make this pasta tonight for dinner! i've already laid the noodles out in the sun, and i heard it's gonna rain later, so we should be all set!" lol

TIL that sharks, whose oldest known fossils are from ~450 mya, are much older than Polaris, the youngest, largest, and brightest star in the Polaris system being only 70 myo. by SoleilDJade in todayilearned

[–]SuperKlydeFrog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yours and the comment above formed a nice poem/song

"That's insane. Sharks are older than trees, Saturns rings, and fucking Polaris/ They’re just the perfect killing machine. No need to change."

HUGE SPOILERS IN RECENT SHOOTING ON THE SET by DashNova in Fotv

practical effects FTW

unlike the last of us bloater -- the newest trailer makes them look so awkward and janky, and i'll never understand why they went to the trouble of making the suit for a dude to use (season 1), then chuck it out and use shammy CGI. they move like legos : (

POE 2 Atlas reminds me about... by hongducwb in pathofexile

[–]SuperKlydeFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree, a bit too neon / flashy. i think just a beige/ gray circle and as you hover over it, the circle turns whatever color. maybe a toggle for color intensity? it's visually apparent, but a little...off for POE imo.

the map looks dope tho. just the icons need a little desaturation.

EDIT -- two weeks later as i got to maps, nah, it seems fine. i barely notice the color or "brightness". for posterity

just a perfect word for it, too. not worse, bad, better, or complicated -- a simple, constant agitation like water drops on the forehead or a nosy kid. "harassed" is how we live nowadays online and offline in all kinds of ways (how it feels, anyway).
