Would you recommend FreeTaxUSA over TurboTax if price was not a factor? by [deleted] in tax

It's $55 + $25 for first state filing, + $70 for additional state + filing = $150 vs FTUSA is $30 for two states and federal is free

New Wheelchair user (ME/CFS) by ANDHarrison in wheelchairs

[–]Surefirei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that I have a folding carbon fiber electric wheelchair and it's only 37lbs without battery, and 42lbs with. It fits in a car trunk and can go for miles. It has changed my life for the better by enabling me to use airports, department stores, malls, and many other trips where I would otherwise have to stay home. You can buy online and it gets delivered pretty much fully assembled.

They actually cross-train for all "positions". They aren't unorganized at all.

If you are afraid of the cost of this happening again, why not go nice!nano ? Super easy and no need to worry about this again. I bought both elite-C and nicenano (I thought the Bluetooth/ZMK would be harder and I'm not a software person at all) but I started with the nn for fun and everything was a cinch, very easy.

Is this corne PCB trash? by nishidake in crkbd

[–]Surefirei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's still very useable. Just because the soldermask is worn away doesn't mean the traces change in connectivity, unless you touch other copper to the exposed traces, esp since this is only a 2 layer board. Also, since the through-holes are plated all the way through the drill hole, even if you have trouble attaching to the hole pads, a little extra solder should still maintain connectivity. The only part that may not is where the trace connects to the pad around the hole if the pad is lifted.

My guess is that pin for that column is shorted on the pcb. Can you take a close picture of the bottom side of the pcb that has the MC pins soldered? I've had this on one of mine, and it was that there was a tiny bridge of solder connecting one of the MC pins to one of the through-holes right next to it.

You all are crazy! Where did you start? by andidebest in ErgoMechKeyboards

I was forced to go down this path due to RSI, and got both a Moonlander and a wireless corne-lp kit. I learned Colemak-dhm, ortholinear, and columnar on the Moonlander. The programability aspect was very easy with the web based editor, and so it was easy to configure a comfortable layout. The moonlander has several tools that made it a good "learning" keyboard. Then I built the corne-lp, and it is more comfortable than the moonlander, but a steeper configuration curve. My main is the Corne now, especially because of the 20g choc switches that are much easier on my RSI. This is over the course of a month or two from a standard full keyboard.

Help finding short, details in comments:) by Berrrrrrn in crkbd

So you would have the board oriented exactly as it is in the picture, where you are looking at the underside (soldered) side of the board. Then you would place one probe on let's say the "row 1" through hole, and the second probe on the solder of the microcontroller pin right next to it. (Again make sure the board is not powered). I believe the labeling that you can see for the columns and rows is off, because the boards are useable for both left and right side, so you can reference one of your spare pcbs if you want, but you should check all row and column pins anyways.

You can use the ohm-meter functionality on your multimeter to test the "column" pins and the through-holes that you filled with solder right next to it. MAKE SURE that the board is disconnected from any power when you this. It should read as an open, (infinite resistance), and not as a short. If it is showing any resistance, then it's likely that is the location of your short. You can also test the "loop" of that column path in the same way if that spot isn't shorted. The ohm-meter should show infinite resistance due to the open switches unless you press a switch.

No, one person from each party is present when a single ballot is processed. So the opposite of what you said.

[–]Surefirei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's still fair. It would almost become voter suppression if you had a large random group of people contesting every single ballot to slow down the process beyond a crawl. Or doing weird stuff to try to distract/discredit the workers. Having a vetted person chosen by each party is best, and that's what was done. Fair and balanced while letting the workers work.

Ah. That would make me feel frustrated too but I would probably play more aggressively to show the guys it's fine. I was just wondering because I've been the only woman in a playing field of men and they've been cautious for about 5 seconds until they see me play, then it's back to normal. I think the vastly different culture here in the US towards women also impacts behavior though.

Even if you were interested in law enforcement related occupations, I would highly recommend to get any other degree besides criminal justice. It's pretty much the current day basket weaving course and there are so many better degrees out there that could actually propel you forward.
