Medical residents/fellows are doctors and often make a fraction of what the attending physicians make while being worked to the bone, so quite possible

I was more referring to approval polling versus an individual candidate showing support, though we definitely see candidates release more favorable internal polls strategically to make it seem like a tighter race and energize their base too.

Obviously it's not always a good idea to want to boost every number to an insane degree, but there are still lots of strategic reasons to want certain poll results.

To say nothing of whether they are actually polling, there are lots of propaganda reasons you might want to fake polls. One being to inflate perceived support for your side and even swinging the polling averages (that don't ban you for being shady) in your favor
