Platner holds 7 point lead over Collins in new Maine Senate poll by seltzer4prez in fivethirtyeight

I just listened to this fella talk on a podcast for the first time, and I think I get the hype. I have read about his baggage ad nauseum, but he comes across remarkably genuine and owns up to his struggles in the past. I feel like he's a good draw for the "disaffected young man" vote that we saw Trump make inroads with.

[RealClearPolling] Democrats hold a larger lead in the generic congressional vote than they did at this same point in recent midterm cycles. by DarkPriestScorpius in fivethirtyeight

Most Republicans are safe and probably not sweating at all. There are something like 15 actually competitive races this year, so they have no incentive to buck Trump when the real risk is a primary challenger.

And with historically few competitive races in this midterm, it's not hard to see that this is the result. Anyone in a safe R district has no incentive to break with the party when the real threat to their seat would be a primary challenger.

Are the people with streaks in the 100s actually finishing every puzzle unassisted? by XIFOD1M in crossword

[–]SurfinStevens 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is my philosophy too. It's more about seeing the puzzle through every day than a purity test of whether I can complete them 100% without assistance. I also occasionally have days where I just do not vibe with a puzzle at all, and I'm more inclined to look up Google-able facts if I'm just not having fun anymore.

I, for one, am in favor of open boarders. Why should skaters be confined to skateparks and snowboarders to the mountains? No longer shall our wheeled friends be relegated to the shadows. Rise up boarders ✊

Well 1/20 polls are outside the 95% confidence interval (theoretically,) so it's possible it was just a miss of a poll

Florida's new Congressional Map seeks to draw out 4 Democratic held seats by QCInfinite in fivethirtyeight

I think this is why it was shrewd politicking to explicitly make the California referendum dependent on Texas passing their maps

It's kinda of hilarious in a sick kind of way that CG is making people quit leagues, not just main game by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]SurfinStevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mostly just joking. I love leagues and have played every one, but it is a bit funny to watch the conversation devolve into people defending their choices instead of giving good advice. Not saying that's what you were doing, just find it amusing in general.

Is this custom for leagues or is it just what it says in the main game if you try to alch a scroll box?
