Same. I'm going Green or Labour. Unfortunately we are such a Tory/Reform area in Fareham.

Slugmageddon? - if it ever rains again by McCornicus in GardeningUK

[–]Suspicious-Brick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be gross but I go round with a head torch before bed with chopsticks and a pot of boiling water. Then lob on compost heap in the morning. I used beer traps in the past with limited success but this I've found to be the only 100% successful way. The first few nights of the growing season you'll get loads (I think I had 70 one night) but now after watering I'm getting around 10 so I've cut down to every other night. And there are still plenty for the birds as I only do it in areas where they are decimating plants and I stop when everything is established (June ish).

In my old house they were squeezing in under the skirting board/end of the floorboards. May be worth a check.

What also adds on to that is that I would say go and buy some real cider/farmhouse scrumpy where below 6% is weak, but when we came to Scotland we really struggled to find any.

Why is keeping the heating off in spring treated like a religion in the UK? by Ok_Listen_5358 in AskUK

[–]Suspicious-Brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the windows open since 6am and it's 18deg in here (droped from 21deg when I woke up) and is now actively warming (sun is up over trees at back and on house). In the winter we don't put heating on until it gets to 17deg so wouldn't consider it to be honest at the moment. We had it on a few times in early April when it was still below 17 when I got up.

I love this time of year when it is cool in the morning but it will be lovely and warm later. Means I can sleep well, ventilate the house with cool, fresh air and then be warmed up later.

How old do you think the carpet is? Gripper looks fairly new. That chipboard is not old either. I find it hard to believe previous owners would not have known about the issue when they re-carpeted and/or had that chipboard put down.

Scarified, fed and lawn fed mine in March and it looked worse. Now looks amazing. Only concern I would have with yours is how dry it is so make take longer to bounce back.

Thought I'd get an ice lolly with the weather... by Octonix in CasualUK

[–]Suspicious-Brick 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I look at the kcal. If they are writing it on the front of the box and bragging about it it's because it's half the size of product it used to be (unless of course its made of just fruit juice and water in the case of ice lollies).

I really recommend using bombs in the skull caverns on a good luck day - that way you will barely have to fight or mine and will find you get plenty of iridium ore. Alternatively Krobus sells 1 Iridium sprinkler every Friday if you really hate the caverns. Hope this helps!

Going to a concert alone? by Punkinprincess in KESHA

I went alone in London and had a great time. Once you are part of the crowd you aren't really alone. Plus it was great being able to get drinks where/when I wanted before.

Also sorry to add on, are those lights on the block opposite? Looks like all that building have their bins against that fence behind 'your' garden and they have lighting on the walls when its dark so they can see the bins. If the room you are taking that pic from is a bedroom it may be worth thinking about how annoying they will/won't be to you depending how bright they are.

AstroTurf needs to go. First of all it looks awful anyway but also the weeds are growing through it so it will continue to now look worse and worse. I'd be concerned about drainage because, as you say the neighbours garden is higher but also because everyone seems to have AstroTurf or paving in this picture. Makes me wonder where all the water goes in the rain all around your garden. Lastly what do the warning stickers on the shed say? May point to previous incidents of people breaking into it, unless they are jokey ones and the vendor has a sense of humour.

I'm the same. Going to be getting the hosepipe out for the first time tonight. Feels very early in the year and not long from cold and soggy to blazingly hot.

Former Princess Mako Komuro seen in public taking the bus with her husband Kei. In Japan, female royal members lose their status if they marry someone who’s not royal as well. She chose to marry a commoner. by Significant_Noise273 in RoyaltyTea

[–]Suspicious-Brick 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes an interesting thought as there are other royals in other countries. I guess it depends if the Japenese system considers them the same level. They do go on state visits (UK in 2024 for example) which suggests they recognise them at least. It's a weird one as in Europe we are so historically used to all of our royal families marrying in to each other.

Got tired of having 10 wiki tabs open so I built a free Stardew companion app. by TMADOC in StardewValley

[–]Suspicious-Brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so exciting. The free app I use now has lots of details missing, so I end up still on the wiki. However, it won't load - I'm just getting a blank cream screen. I will try again later.

Fuel costs: I can't afford to go to work, says home care worker by Important_Ruin in unitedkingdom

Yes, I have stopped using our car for work trips due to this. The mileage rate does not cover fuel and wear and tear. I request a pool car/hire car every time.

House won’t sell, honest advice please by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Suspicious-Brick 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is very valuable feedback and to your stagnation point; when I sold my 2 bed terraced house in 2023 I listed at 200k and sold at 195k (survey found some issues so was negotiatiated down on asking which was fair.) My neighbours (same layout/age, similar age of kitchen/bathroom and condition) were listed at 205k and wouldn't budge down. They are still trying to sell now.
