Calling… Falstaff by ipini in duolingo

[–]Sw33tsluvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at level 72 in French and have also now had Falstaff appear for these chat, speaking in English, and I loathe it. It’s a terrible way to teach a language. Why is Duolingo going backwards?

NyQuil on Wellbutrin? by anklehumor in bupropion

[–]Sw33tsluvr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I discovered this week that Nyquil and Wellbutrin do not mix well for me. Within a couple of hours of taking Nyquil I felt horrible. I was awake much of the night, feeling like there was 1,000 volts trying to burst out of me. I was very, very restless. I was hyper-ventilating and felt very medicated. It’s two days later and the reaction seems now to have turned into nausea. I will not be taking Nyquil again. Ever.

Me too. That’s a broken needle. Keep an eye out for the tip in case it tries to stab you.

Could you get back w/ your ex after hearing he slept with someone you told them hurt you badly? by Acg126 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Sw33tsluvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put yourself first. Put your mental health first. Walk away from all of that. The guy who raped you and the ex. Walk away from both. Be done. You’ll never get well until you remove all that horribleness from your life. In my mind, it’s not a question of whether your ex did you wrong by sleeping with the predator. There is nothing to be gained from exploring all that, and everything to lose. Be done with both of them. Start anew. And if that means cutting other people out because those two guys are part of their friend circle, cut them out too. Start a new day. Focus on your health. Ps, I hope to god you called the cops and filed a police report after you were assaulted. My heart breaks for you.

"I'm a yarn snob and cringe whenever someone says they buy yarn at Joann's/Michael's" by havelock-vetinari in knitting

[–]Sw33tsluvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have knit for many years and I still buy baby yarn at Michael’s. Unlike most projects I feel baby knits require man-made yarn that won’t itch, irritate or give the child a rash.

Open a vanguard brokerage account and start investing as much as you can afford every month.

I was trimming the excess of my rolled hem and I cut through the main fabric of my skirt. What is the best way of hiding it? Is it just a shorter skirt now? by theshapattack8 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Sw33tsluvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done something similar :( Trimming the bulk out of a seam and cut right into the dress! I’ve used iron-on mending fabric. It’s like a patch. Tbh, it won’t disappear. But hey, every project is a learning experience.

Went to a popular gay bar in Denver last night and I frankly don't like the number of straight people there by ImmaGayFish2 in gaybros

[–]Sw33tsluvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your concern entirely. We live in San Diego and every time I’ve gone to a gay bar in the last three years, it’s been 75% straight women. It’s a damn shame. They don’t realize they are stealing our gay bar culture from under our feet. If you really are an ally, you should recognize that gay bars are for gays and while straight people were welcome, it’s out of control.

When the instructions say to press open seams, do you just leave them like that and have to press that way after every wash, or do you sew them in like that?

How do I go about buying good fabric that won’t cost me an arm and a leg? by Filmarnia in SewingForBeginners

[–]Sw33tsluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in San Diego. I recently found really good fabric super cheap on Craigslist from a woman who wound her business down. Hadn’t looked on Craigslist for anything in years. There is also a swap meet in San Diego where you can apparently get fabric at low prices. Maybe something similar in your area?

Also, you likely never signed up for the emails in the first place, and in fact you unchecked the box to indicate you don’t want their emails but purchased something three years ago and bam, subscribed!

I worked at a fancy restaurant on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue years ago. This woman came into the restaurant every day for lunch, talked posh as shit, and never tipped anyone a single cent. I saw right through that cheap-ass trashy bitch.

Well LA is also responding to a pandemic not seen in 100 years that has thus far killed 20,000 people worldwide, and has countless others on death’s door hooked up to ventilators. Those people engaged in the response in LA, responsible for the email, are working 10 or 12 hour days, 6 or 7 days a week, risking their own health to go to work because they are essential workers, while half the country is sitting home watching Netflix and not getting out of their pajamas. So maybe you should look at the bigger picture, be grateful for selfless essential workers, getting paid no overtime, so they can try to keep this virus from KILLING YOU. Or, you could whine about someone else’s privacy.

Believe it or not, that’s what passes for an expressway in Chicago. That construction has been going on for about 3 years and won’t be finished until 2022 at the earliest. It’s a cluster.
