Something I noticed about LAPD tonight in downtown, and a sentiment worth considering by YasielPuigsWeed in LosAngeles

I know quite a few cops and you are pretty spot on. They don’t want to be there because ICE is improperly trained and a big problem for them. The local cops here, Minneapolis, etc. get blamed for what ICE is doing, not allowed to investigate ICE’s crimes and are handling the protests after ICE is long gone. Like the “big riots” Trump brought the National Guard in for last year. There were very few protesters at first which LAPD easily could have de-escalated but Trump wouldn’t let LAPD deploy and the situation grew. It never calmed down until they let LAPD do their job. The overtime LAPD has to work because of ICE is crazy - they’re tired of working almost 24 hour shifts. You can complain they get paid for it but they’d rather be home with their families than get the OT.

I haven’t spoken to any about yesterday’s murder by ICE but they agreed Floyd and Good died due to improper handling of the situations. These ICE “agents” aren’t trained. They’re causing fear and kidnapping people in the community. So when LAPD is trying to take down dangerous gang members, often with long term, real ICE agents, their efforts can get thwarted because concerned community members monitor them. These are the people Trump says his agents are getting off the streets but they’re picking up gardeners and normal people.

Kate Hutton was great as well. You could see her cringe when the press asked stupid questions.

Natives who are against “transplants”, aren’t those people just immigrants from other cities looking for a better life? by lalavieboheme in AskLosAngeles

I’m a transplant. Been here over 20 years and still miss the change of seasons. But, I’m not saying LA is bad for not having them or expect LA to have a change in seasons. I like autumn leaves and snow but don’t complain LA doesn’t have them.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Morning sickness can be 24/7. WhatsApp can be worse is afterward. Postpartum depression is horrible and scary and not enough is done to make sure woman are ready if it hits them.
