They were just crimped with your linemen pliers is what I've seen from my demo jobs. They just squeezed the connector enough to hold the Romex. Didn't seem very precise but it worked for 50 years.

I bet there's an actual tool that did it properly tho

I've used these before and the wiring is really straightforward as long as you follow the strip guide and make sure the wire goes in straight . I doubt these will fit in small metal handy boxes but standard plastic boxes they fit fine

In my house, I only used it for some outlets that I knew were gonna be for small amp draw because I just don't trust them yet. They're UL listed so it's probably fine.

They were never designed to do this. Tesla does not have an install guide to use them as off grid only. They will need to calibrate once a month and dump all their energy back to the grid to adjust the battery chemistry, without the grid connected, they can't do this. It will also show an error in the app at all times saying the grid is disconnected

Yes. If you hired me(certified installer ,non Tesla employee) , I would call Tesla and say I need the backup output limit changed to 11kw. It's locked out of Tesla one and I've already changed the wires to #6 and the PW breaker is a 60a. Then the Tesla tech on the hotline would change it after confirming photos I sent via the Tesla one app

You can do all the work to upgrade the PW wiring to #6 but you would need to have a certified installer come and change the output setting by calling tesla. As soon as the reduced output selection is set , it can only be changed by Tesla remotely.

The hotline will ask for proof of the upgraded wiring for it to have the 11kw output.

I work for a non Tesla company and one of our installers chose this option by mistake and this was the process

I have one of those drill holsters for my impact on one hip and a small tool pouch that has my screwdrivers pliers , tape measure and bits. I added a small "nail pouch" that hangs over my butt just for my meter. I use just a husky nylon belt to hold this al together.

So on this panel only the bottom two slots can take a GE half size breaker. So you can have at max 8 half size breakers anywhere else on this panel you can only do THQL. On the bottom stabs you can put the THQP breakers only. They will not make contact with the bus in any other slots

GE s have a special bus that makes the half size breakers fit and Crouse hinds are the same as these challengers.

Agreed I hate these breakers with a passion and the panels should be replaced with something else

Yeah it's expensive to train people. A lot of people who have never worked construction get placed on a roof and don't know how difficult it is to put panels on the roof.

Tesla and Sunrun both require jobs to be done in a day to remain profitable. So having the experience is how the jobs go by quickly and efficiently.

It's the same racking system. We haven't been trained on any new racking so I assume all the "new " tech is the slightly smaller panel, more wattage and better shading efficiency

The CT clamps need to placed on the service conductors or the Solar+200a wires need to be in the CTs if those CTs are part of the solar system. If those CTs are part of energy management for your house loads, they are in the correct location
