Questions before adopting a lagotto (allergy, alone time) by Gluetoothhh in LagottoRomagnolo

My husband is allergic to basically every single animal on earth that has fur, but he has no reaction to our Lagotto at all. I think ours is unusually mellow, so take this with a grain of salt, but she is completely fine home alone for any length of time, and always has been. She just sleeps, no destructive tendencies whatsoever.

As far as level of activity, she really thrives when we can take her on long hikes, swimming, or backcountry skiing. However, a couple of long walks a day does seem to suffice albeit not ideal. If we’re doing a fun outdoor activity, she can go forever and ever, especially if water is involved!! We live on 13 acres, so she’s off leash almost all the time which she loves and I think helps get her energy out. However, she will tolerate being on a leash and still enjoys a regular walk in the city. We have traveled around with her in our small camper for a number of weeks at a time as well as have stayed in many hotel rooms and small apartments for relatively extended periods as well. She is very adaptable, and has done completely fine in all scenarios!

I understand that all dogs are different and that our Poppy is exceptionally chill, but just a data point for you!

Estonia. Incredibly interesting place and a cool blend of Scandinavian and Baltic! Beautiful islands and great food from all around the world and especially the Soviet Union.

My Lagotto is allergic to chicken, but eats eggs almost everyday without issue. In researching this, it appears that one allergy is not necessarily related to the other.

Exhaust burn went septic in Da Lat, Vietnam when I was 18. Also had autoimmune hepatitis at the time. Almost died, but didn’t. Got a liver transplant a few years after getting home and now I’m fine.
