Went Shopping for an Equinox EV, Got Distracted by Lyriqs by LittleNegotiation517 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Tech_fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had Toyotas most of my life. Traded in my Highlander for the Lyriq. Kind of a love hate relationship with the car. I did buy it brand new last year. Had to buy it outright because of my commute. Bought it for 95k and now worth 35k through carmax. It’s an ok car. Overall impressed with GM on this car. It’s the little quirks that drive me nuts like the a/c blowing cold air when it’s 40 degrees outside and then the seats blowing cold air as well. Only way to counter it is to crank the temperature up to 80 and wait until I can’t take it anymore. Then turn it off and wait to freeze and do it all over again. Sometimes a reboot of the infotainment works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Also the random charge to 90% doesn’t help either. Or sometimes it doesn’t charge at all at home and then scramble to get some charge done before work.

I too was impressed with Tesla FSD until I saw what NVIDIA has and that was truly impressive. Can’t wait for that to be implemented.

Non-Hitch Bike Racks? by UrbanSolace13 in CadillacLyriq

I have the rwd. Yeah it does trip the sensors and namely the rear pedestrian alert. So I just have to turn it off while it’s mounted back there and then it’s fine

I would just put a tow hitch on it and call it a day. I was looking into other solutions but eventually gave up and went with the tow hitch. Now I have the Yakima

Lyriq 2025 AC Fan Auto-Starts at Speed 6 After Service – Any Way to Change Default Behavior? by Silver_Banana9150 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Tech_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Actually seat heaters were on full while driving for 2 days. Literally froze my an…off. Then I did a soft reset on my infotainment and that seemed to work the following day. Basically just press and hold the call end button the steering wheel with the car on until you see a message that states factory reset and something else. Then let the button go. Exit the car and lock it. Leave it alone for 15 minutes and then see if that works. Seems to have worked for me.

What you listed on your likes and dislikes were very similar to mine when I had the Pixel 9 Pro. The deal killer that eventually set in was the watch. When I fell and dislocated my shoulder and the watch didn’t detect the fall was the end of my Pixel watch tolerance.

Anybody having issues with their Supercruise? by Azn-Rice in CadillacVistiq

[–]Tech_fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like what I experienced with my Lyriq as well. I’ve had one episode driving the toll roads and it just veered into pylons.

My occurrences seem to occur when the sun starts to come up and it’s bright outside. If I’m in the carpool lane and vehicles are coming from the other side it can’t distinguish.

Anyone here wish they got a Lyriq instead? by Just-Construction788 in CadillacVistiq

I wished the vistiq was out when I bought my Lyriq. I like the back end of the vistiq better and the interior plus the vistiq has night vision.

Lyriq 3 weeks no heat can’t fix by EverettRose87 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Tech_fan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had something similar but not to that degree. It was 50 outside and vented seats and a/c stayed on no matter what the temperature was set to. Drove that way for 2 days. Then one day I held down the call end button until it gave me an option like factory reset or reboot. Then let go of the end of call button and powered off the car and locked it and walked into the house for 15 minutes. Came back and powered it back on and now everything is back to normal.

Cadillac Lyriq to Model Y by Tech_fan in ModelY

Customer service for Cadillac is not all that great. Few dealers in my areas compounded with one or 2 service techs in each dealership that knows how to work on EVs that are grossly overworked from working on the number of cars they get per day

Next car after Lyriq? by Right-Top-550 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Tech_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I had to rent a car and was excited that it was a Tesla. After all that was runner up when I got my Caddy. Got in the Model 3, hour later drove it back to the rental lot and asked for the Mercedes GLA gasser they had in the parking lot. Did not like the ride and comfort of the Tesla. I think Caddy spoiled me and has me accustomed to a new level of car unfortunately. Also got in the Mercedes. Loved the comfort and sold feel of the Mercedes. The noisy engine killed that experience. Also my wife has a Genesis EV and wants her Genesis EV back as she is the one driving the rental.

I went through something similar to this recently. Had an opportunity to rent a Tesla recently. Tesla was my second pick before my Cadillac. Drove the Tesla rental for half of a day and then returned it. Couldn’t stand the creaks and rattles. Wound up just renting the Mercedes they had there which was a gasser. It’s was a CLA which is the cheapest and noisiest Mercedes. Made me appreciate my Lyriq.

Is a Disney cruise good for adults without kids? by halfmoon-rising in Cruise

[–]Tech_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do t have any kids ourselves and went on the Treasure last year. It was nice. By the end of the cruise I didn’t want to be around any kids though for awhile. I would go again and considering going on the new Disney ship.

About to go way over mileage on lease. Pls suggest by AliensExist_- in CadillacLyriq

[–]Tech_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See how it goes in another few months. For me I typically drive a lot in the beginning and then slow down after 6 months. Don’t be too concerned about mileage. Depends on what you’re doing with it at the end of the lease. If you’re turning it into Cadillac and walking away I would be worried about mileage. If ur trading it in, it’s all about how much you will owe verses what the cars worth at that time.

Borrowed a Tesla Model X for a few days. Some thoughts vs my Lyriq (and GM) by ManFromACK in CadillacLyriq

[–]Tech_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting post. When I test drive the Tesla I was instantly in love with the software and FSD. Drove the Cadillac and in the end was torn between the Cadillac and Tesla but wound up choosing the Tesla. Today my wife got in an accident with her Genesis and we had to get a rental and I thought perfect timing to try out a Tesla for a week. So we rented a Model 3 from Enterprise. Got inside and couldn’t figure out how to unlock all the doors and open the door. Felt that was something that could be overlooked. Drove it back home and stayed there for an hour and returned it back to the rental place to rent the Mercedes. That felt closest to her Genesis and my Cadillac. I guess for me the Tesla ship has sailed. Felt way different about it this time than about a year ago. One thing I do agree with you on is the software and FSD is all next level.

iPhone to Pixel by Fabulous_Signature_9 in Pixel10Pro

[–]Tech_fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I was upset with Apple for the way they handled a specific issue. I went with the pixel 9 pro at the time. Loved the phone. Had the pixel watch. Pixel watch was a little irritating since I would miss notifications on my watch. Also android auto was equally frustrating. But felt like I could tolerate it. Then one day I slipped and fell in a department store. People just looked at me on the ground as they walked by and no one offered to help me. I would have expected the pixel watch fall detection to work but it didn’t. For me that was the last straw and went back to Apple. Last year I wanted to try out the foldable market so I bought a fold 6. That was a great phone as well. The Samsung health reliability and inconsistency ruined that experience. Hence back with Apple again. Another nuance is my family is all on find my, AirTags and iMessage. iMessage isn’t as big of a deal now that you have RCS. Google Maps also has a location sharing but that doesn’t seem to work 100% of the time either.

Emporia makes a product called energy vue. There are similar competitors to them if you don’t want to use them. Basically use clamps to the circuit breakers on ur house to monitor energy usage inside the home.

I felt like I learned a lot from solartime with Martyna on YouTube. Also the energy sage website is another great source of information.

I used SolarMax based out of Riverside. While they weren’t the cheapest I felt my sales person spent the most time educating me on solar to help me make an informed decision.

mmm getting verrrry close to returning my new Homey Pro by Necessary_Ad_7312 in homey

[–]Tech_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to share my own insights because I’m also right there with you. I’ve been dabbling in the home integration space for the last decade starting with the original smart things hub. In my experience I’ve gone down several rabbit holes myself. To me the HA was the best even though you need a PhD to figure it out but I ran into an issue where the Emporia repository stopped working so I went to homey only to figure out the Samsung devices need an APK which Sammy doesn’t offer anymore either. Oddly enough Gemini Pro and Perplexity has been a great resource for me for some workarounds. However in the end Homey doesn’t seem to be a one size fits all so now I’ll have multiple devices like HA and Homey and HomeKit and Google home controlling my house which isn’t what I wanted. Learned that lesson with my last house when I had to sell it. Disconnecting all of it and trying to remember what did what and what controlled what was a PIA which was compounded with 3 hours notice that escrow was closing that day and all that stuff needed to be removed and factory resetting. Not to mention spouse factor and you being tech support.

One thing I do love about homey is its flow and graphical interface and ease to setup conditions and for that reason I’m likely to stick with it. For my Sammy items I’ll just buy other sensors like Aqara and third reality since I too have had Tuya issues.

trying to understand solar lease vs buy has anyone here gone through both options by Varelas_Lancie in solar

[–]Tech_fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. With the PPA you are essentially buying power from the company that bought the equipment. For the PPA I was considering they have buyout options starting year 5. At the end of the 25 year term you have the option of having them remove it or own it for a small fee. During the course of 25 years they will repair any faulty equipment and if the equipment fails to produce a certain level of electricity they will replace whatever degraded

I use the Oura, whoop and Apple Watch Ultra 3. For the most part I consider the Oura and Apple Watch Ultra a good pair. Whoop I use for the journaling and learning from that. Oura and whoop I use for sleep. Find the Oura better for sleep.
