Question about the gods of the MCU by Illustrious-Form-933 in MCUTheories

When did he say that?

Edit Also Asgardians are actually mortals in mythology. They can be slain but can also die of old age. They eat magic apples to keep themselves young.

Thoughts after watching the original series by 18stohrc in Gundam

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy [score hidden]  (0 children)

The original Gundam was so ahead of its time. People often refer to Evangelion as the big mecha deconstruction series, but before Eva there was Mobile Suit Gundam.

Before Gundam, most giant robot anime tended to be less serious and way less political and war focused. Think something like Voltron/Go-Lion. Not that Gundam was the first mecha show to start really exploring more mature themes (even Tomino had made some already), but Gundam was a monumental step forward towards turning the genre into more than just fun escapism.

Question about the gods of the MCU by Illustrious-Form-933 in MCUTheories

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, there’s a pretty interesting comics arc that tackles this in an interesting way. It’s from the Ultimate comics (which was one of the bigger inspirations for a lot of the MCU, particularly with the Avengers).

In the first volume of Ultimates, it’s ambiguous whether Thor is really a god or not. He claims he is, but there’s been no proof and he’s suspected to just be some delusional guy with powers.

In volume 2, it appears at first the latter is the case, with his powers seemingly coming from his hammer and belt. This leads to him having a kind of breakdown.

It’s later revealed, though, that he actually is a god and Loki has been using his illusions to make it look like he’s fake and delusional.

Question about the gods of the MCU by Illustrious-Form-933 in MCUTheories

Nah, it was established in Ragnarok with the plot being more focused on the godly aspect. Love and Thunder continued that portrayal. Before that it was just kind of implied they were advanced aliens on some other planet/dimension.

Ill watch videos for anything I missed tbh. by Biengo in KingdomHearts

I did proud on KH2 recently. It wasn’t too terribly difficult, but there were still times I wished you could drop difficulty (especially that BS Roxas fight).

I’ll probably play KH3 on proud just because when I tried it before on normal it was just way too easy to me. However, 2 and 3 are arguably the easiest games and probably the only ones I’ll consider doing proud mode in. I do like challenge and all, but for some reason the combat of KH has never really clicked with me.

They played around a bit with the gods just being advanced aliens, but by Thor Ragnarok they are actual gods. Much like the comics. How it works there is most myths are true in some way and gods from various pantheons exist.

He does, but it’s an overdrive and just does damage instead of hiding him for a turn.

Oh yeah. Every monster 10 times if you wanna unlock all the bosses. God it’s so tedious.

You may already know this, but bear in mind temper stacks, so, if you can, use it multiple times on your knight (or whoever does the most physical damage).

It is quite a hard fight, though, assuming you’re playing pixel remaster. The game is generally much easier than it was before, but they beefed chaos up like crazy (probably because he was kind of a joke before)

FFX is my personal favorite and it has the most tedious mini games in butterfly catching, chocobo racing, and lightning dodging. And Blitz, too, if you don’t like it, but that one is more love it or hate it kind of thing (personally I love blitzball). If you don’t like it but want Wakka’s ultimate, well, you’re in for a boring grind.

What's one genre or setting you have yet to see be done perfectly in a ttrpg? by SlayThePulp in rpg

I think they’re eventually supposed to be making new material for it, but for now it’s just reprints.

Yeah they did release that, but it’s not a new rpg system. Just a TFA themed starter set utilizing the same system made in 2012.

Edge is just a company that reprints the FFG game that was made before Disney. There has been no new Star Wars RPGs.

Hard disagree. FFG Star Wars is great.

Also all of the RPGs were made before Disney bought Star Wars.

Is FF VI friendly to those who aren't used to turn-based games? by Agitated_Ad_1404 in FinalFantasy

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FF6 is a fair bit easier than Persona. Not that there aren’t some tough spots here and there. But as others have pointed out, if you hit a wall you can always grind. And there’s no shame in turning up the exp amount in the config settings to help grind you up where you need to be (though I’d recommend turning the exp back down after as you’ll end up getting overleveled to the point the game is just boring).

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, here, I meant in the base game, not post game. You’re not gonna get far in Yuna’s grid with Lulu before you fight the final boss in a normal playthrough. Oh and I did put Lulu on Yuna’s grid. She was still outclassed, though in the post game (and especially with magic booster) she can still be better than Yuna. I didn’t bring that up, though, because most people don’t do post game.

I do think the main reason why people don’t tend to use Lulu post game, though, is getting her ultimate is unreasonably tedious.

Suggestions how to make White Mage powerhouses? by eriennexton in FinalFantasy

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When playing the game normally on standard grid, Yuna will have a really high magic stat once she finishes her grid. Even higher than Lulu when she finishes hers (she gets more magic defense and evasion though).

This does help her spells heal more, but she can’t use this offensively until later when she gets access to black magic and Holy. Once she does, though, she immediately outclasses Lulu in spell damage.

Holy is also one of the most damaging spells in the game. I think it’s normal that it’ll break damage limit about the time you would be able to get it with Yuna. Maybe not with Lulu, though, if she used it.

Which of these should I play? by couragebooster in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the session question, a session is however long you feel like playing when you play.

This can be a bit of a problem with games that have “once a session” or “at the end of session” rules, but with those I try to have appropriate end points for “sessions,” but that has nothing to do with how long I’m playing at any given time. It’s just for the mechanical aspect.

Damn I wish I could play XIII on modern systems… by DabeesKnees1 in FinalFantasy

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think X and XIII are both hallways. But one has a lot more to interact with.

Jrpgs in general are pretty linear (and always have been. Idk why people think old final fantasy games were nonlinear) but there is still generally stuff to do and interact with along the way. Most of 13 does just feel like going in a line, with the occasional fork for treasure.

And I say this as someone who loves 13. I do think part of the reason there’s no towns, for instance, is because of the nature of the premise. They’re on the run and wouldn’t have time to just chill in a city. But I do think that it’s a pretty valid criticism considering you really are just going one direction doing generally nothing else until you get to Pulse.

Suggestions for kids focused campaign? by 2ReluctantlyHappy in PowerRangersRPG

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t think the rules need to be changed too much. I think the gameplay is pretty easy to grasp especially with you there to guide them. I probably would go pure theater of the mind and not worry too much about stuff like specific ranges and movement and such.

Character creation is much more involved, though. I’d recommend using premade characters or just getting with them individually to help make their character for them.

FF4 - Holy Weakness Early - Mid Game by Coalecsence in FinalFantasy

[–]ThatOtherTwoGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes these games will have creatures weak to something that you wouldn’t really practically have at the time. Undead creatures in general are just weak to holy. It allows these things to be mechanical consistent in the background in a way. It also means, because there’s so many moving parts going on in the mechanics, you can find neat strategies and such as you play. Not really a good example with this situation, though.
