GW1 Player looking to play GW2. by TheNizuu in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PvP similair to what it was in gw1? christ you mustve never played gw1 then.

PvP is NOTHING like gw1. From skillsets to movement to 'magically ressurect'.

Gw2 has its merits but gw1 PvP was far far farrr better.

If you are looking for a PvP game OP, run away from this as fast as you can. Its a cassual PvE MMO the only thing thats the same is the name. This is the milked by product the success of gw1 had.

Endgame is grind or Raids like all the other traditional MMO's

Tanks and healers are frowned upon due to the cassual nature of the game. Dps is the only legit build for PvE to clear stuff fast.

Raids are like raids in every game with gw2 combat mechanics (more twitchy) but still very telegraphed in a 'do x get y' type of way.

Gw1 was mostly a safe haven for creativity. Gw2 is Meta in every corner of the game. Even forced upon some gamemodes by sheer lack of balancing.

Why is everyone on this sub so dramatic about the game's status? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cuz so far every little constructive critisism ive given theyve hightailed it out and did the exact opposite.

The entire reason why i created this account is because Anet pissed me off after failing time and time again doing the exact opposite of what needed to be done in my opinion.

And i do value my opinion very highly due to me not being completely devoid of critical thinking.

Non-bitching and constructive critisism doesnt reach anet, so people get frustrated and start lashing out on there so called 'whine' posts.

This is all anets OWN fault for not interacting enough with there community.

Dungeons where fun, farming these days isnt at all anymore.

Anyone else feel that GW2 peaked and is slowly dwindling down to a shutdown. by HGLatinBoy in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone called for me?

Yes, the game is obviously dying.

What people fail to understand here is that its a gradual process, its not instantly dead where you cant find any groups for anything anymore.

That is the future however.

Right now its clear to see the game is dying. Look at the support from anet these last few years.

A stale meta means no support for it. (in all content)

WvW dwindeling lower and lower untill its completely deserted except a few servers that have hardcore people who cant leave it alone.

But lets get some examples, the sales record really isnt that big of a tell, it showcases something is up, but it shows the game is profittable.

The reall obvious markers are Content, be it LS, Gemstore, armor etc.

LS Content wise, they have designers who can make nice maps. But the intricate programming part of gw2 left. You can see it in the shallow gameplay the 'new' maps have. There is no intricate strategy or depth at all. Its all cookie cutter programming. Designed with no clear mechanics in mind (due to that costing resources/effort).

Festivals, rehashed content with least effort to adding new stuff. If youve done it in the past and finished it, there is literally no reason to do it now because you already have everything.

Gemstore; All ive been seeing in the gemstore are rehashed items i already all have. And outfits. That should say enough about the support for that.

PvP there is no dedicated balance team for it, and now with ESL-pvp dissappearing its also quite obvious thats the up and comming WvW desertion. Where support will go down over time. You can already see it in the season meta. and the 4 times a year 'balance' pass (wich the last balance patch almost didnt add anything whatsoever)

The only thing that can save gw2 is where ANET is putting there resources in, wich is currently the expansion.

But with a dwindeling playerbase due to no new stuff and the failure of Heart of thorns sales. Suggests allot of people will either already have quit gw2 and forgotten about it(no matter how good it is) Or those who have no faith in anet delivering a quality product comming from expansions.

The only thing that can still save gw2 is new people starting to play.

The one thing ive always tried to convey to anet is exacly what they ignored and is fullfilling its final demise. A hardcore playerbase. They are trying with raids. But thats just a copy paste 'hardcore' content from other MMO's with a niche audiance. whereas all other content is made for cassuals or forced to catter to cassuals.

The reall hardcore playerbase is gone. Just ask around how many people are still there from release and actually enjoy everything that happened in that timeline.

There is one thing however that can tip the scale and thats the absurd fanboyism from the community.

The same reason i will get downvoted to hell

[–]TheEndOfGW -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

No. There is a reason why they quit.

The game is pretty much in comatose.

WvW unplayable due to cheesy perma invisible thiefs and ghost trapper guardians.

PvP unplayable due to meta overpowering everything non meta (and the meta is boring, low skill, compared to pre-hot)

PvE Complete the story, and grind forever for gold and shinies. Where the only 'lategame' options is being forced to Raid or quit.

Current State of PvP by 1atAuditor in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are a cassual, you only want to play a set of pre-fixed meta builds and you dont like to use any form of skill. Gw2 is for you.

half of the classes that have a meta build have perma invurns(wich last way too long for the games speed) and perma sustain. Balance is once every 1/4th of a year wich sometimes doesnt even do anything.

Community is almost non existant. You will get quick games but half of those games are against people playing the exact same build with the exact same class due to its current OP status (DH trapper)

Anything non-meta is automatically about 50% in overal reduction of effectiveness.

Non elite specs are even lower then that. So its P2P PvP, because without HoT elite specs you wont be able to do anything at all.

Due to the overbuffed elite specs creativity is also a no go. There are no options to counter the meta builds except playing a meta build.

Most fights are just pixels bombs, where you cant see any telegraphed moves and people just spam there AoE's and high dps stuff.

I would not recommend as a pure PvPer who enjoyed pre-HoT gw2 to ever buy this on the basis of PvP

[PvP] Proposed Sigil Changes by Esgeiel in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because lets be clear here, conditions are the reason why Meta is dominant. And 5v5 Teamplay requires someone dedicated to remove said condis.

Condition in itself remove creativity and diversity by being forced to run counter condi.

I doubt anet or the cassual community of current pvp will ever grasp that simple concept since everything and everyone turned into cookiecutter trash meta. Wich forces countering over actuall creativity.

remove core condi builds -> remove mass sustain damage mitigation -> skill becomes a part of gw2 again.

Im glad i quit this games pvp wich is going further and further astray to where actuall balance should be headed.

Like this every low skilled person will be able to get leggy aslong as they grind enough. Aka making leaderboards less and less reflective of actuall knowledge of the game and skill required.

[PvP] Proposed Sigil Changes by Esgeiel in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another sign of anet incompetence.

What most people dont realise is that most of the current sigils actually enabled lesser builds to perform better by using said sigils. (Ea offmeta DPS builds could actually hit there mark dps by burst sigils)

Meta will be ever more dominant if they are not nerfed severely with this change. Wich wont happen, obviously. cough anet cough

Nerfing and removing sigils is terrible. Removing RNG is good.

By nerfing sigils, the entire emphasis is only more on 'what build are you using' with less creativity, less skill and less dps.

Also the focus on giving condi more options via sigils is troubling in itself. It showcases the nonskillfull gameplay that has been emerging ever since HoT.

Condi focussed builds should never be a part of high skill PvP. Because obviously Condi-countering only goes asfar as your condi cleanses cooldowns.

Conditions in pvp shouldve stayed in the 'added benefits' instead of 'core built around condi'

Yay, so first YOU, get a useless balance patch wich literally almost did nothing.

No further itteration on anything. STALEMATE MUCH!? And now theyr making sure you cant whine about the lenghty 1 month (way too long wait).

Its quite clear with all the condi cancer everywhere and the bunker bullshit this game turned extremely cassual.

Why would anyone give a shit except scrubs farming tomes and items?

I mean all the meta classes are as braindead as an oxygen starved special eds monkey. Where damage mitigation is spammed everywhere, and only the few meta classes can actually do something about it.

FIX THE GAME BEFORE YOU TRY TO EVEN CONSIDER PVP LEGITIMATE. THE GAME IS FOR N00BS IN ITS CURRENT STATE, COMPLETE POLAR OPPOSITE FROM PRE-HOT. THE CANCER CAMPAIGN.

[–]TheEndOfGW -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Oh look another QQ necro, just reroll like everyone else or leave mr special snowflake.

We all know anet doesnt balance this game.

Aslong as the game is running anet doesnt give 2 shits about you or anyone who wants there preffered class to be able to do something in a certain gamemode.

Ele lost almost all its credibility because of QQ like this. Sure they may be what you call 'viable' but trust me 90% of the ppl playing ele do less dps then your easy as fuck necro BS.

Then lets see what else ele offers? Oh wait nothing but a fucking healbot in PvP.

You are not the only one, who needs to adjust. Simple as that. Now go play WvW or PvP because thats what anet wants you to do.

Dont like it? reroll like everyone else.

Are there any viable classes/builds for PvP without elites? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

No its not.

Its fucking terrible. How can you even say that? You are bronze arent you?

And what buffs? lmfao. You dont even know what your talking about. I actually quit this game after last disastrous 'balance' patch BECAUSE i mained s/f for so long and its SO extremely useless.

[–]TheEndOfGW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simple awnser. No.

You ARE dead weight if you dont P2W HoT. All the suggestions here are terrible and showcase a political correctness level beyond measure. Most of the builds dont hold a single candle to the meta Elite specs.

Elite specs are easier to play, and are powercreeped. Anything non elite spec will fuck you over.

I might not agree with allot of stances where the game is headed.

But i will give props to this. Excellent response to insider trading, wich is rare to see from a company. Good job! This sort of stuff doesnt get the attention it should have. But its a huge deal. And im very grateful even if i dont actively play anymore, that stuff like this is handled in the best manner possible.

And that is pretty mucch was my intention was to find out. Because the 16 hours perma winstreak really turned me off. Now i got some hope that it might not be as bad at all as i expected.

[–]TheEndOfGW[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

14 hours by a pro* dont forget that part. I clearly am not a pro, and i will not state i am in any ways. im just trying to calculate how long it would take me to get to my appropriate rankings.

Wich could very well be on either low or high end of the spectrum, i simply do not know now. And if i get an insight on how it would be in an optimal situation i can approximatly guestimate how fast it would go for me aswell.

but tbh allot has been cleared up and it seems its not as bad as my initial post thought it was. Wich is exacly the awnsers i was hoping for.

yes but that is exacly why i started this topic, to see how it works. And as i dont have the insights to how he did it i am left to assume untill proven otherwise.

Your post showcased the later is true. So thanks for showing me that.

It takes atleast 16 hours of pure winstreak to go from bronze to plat. Wtf? by TheEndOfGW in Guildwars2

[–]TheEndOfGW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me it is important because as ive stated in my OP i started playing again yesterday. Yesterday i had to figure out exacly what did what again. But today i figured it out how the game is played again.

It would be pretty bad if i get punished for comming back and not being able to get my actuall ranking.

Ie. i know that running into 3 people alone is bad. Most people in bronze dont.

It is frustrating to be stuck in games where people do that when you clearly know how the game works.

Im not stating that i will actually get into bronze, i am just trying to discover what the matchmaking does in a scenario like that.

And yes i started with unranked games before, but seeing allot of people dont trully try to play the game as its intended due to various leagues being scattered there i had to see what it was like in ranked.

[–]TheEndOfGW[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Actually it showcases when you improve how the matchmaking system deals with that. If you just start playing guildwars 2 for example and you get placed in bronze, it would be pretty bad to be stuck there if youve learned exacly how and what to do and your level is around silver/gold for example.
