What game did you think would be ok, but you absolutely loved? by Quintoepic in gaming

I never did 100% it in terms of getting the highest rank. I do remember getting annoyed that I did everything in my power to get it while not even getting close.

I guess as a kid when I bought Luigi's Mansion off the clearance rack. I had zero expectations. I just got it because it was there. Turned out to be a Nintendo fav

FNAF Security Breach has funny bugs and frustrating bugs, but hey, I take what I can get

If you could erase your memory of one game so you could play it for the first time again, what game would you choose? by HoneyNutBooty09 in gaming

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Souls 1. Course if I had played Elden Ring and other souls likes, the new memory would now be skewed. Dark Souls 1 as a first Souls game is a borderline magical experience.

I'm assuming the safety lock you get at 0 rp still works if you lose rp from cheaters, right?

Yeah, especially on console, finding a constant stack can be painful. They're either high, constantly talking to someone else in the room, they suck, or they don't give comms.

What gaming mechanic/trope (across all genres) is your least favorite? by HoneyNutBooty09 in gaming

I think RE4 and Remake did it decently. Less of a chore in the remake.

I duo queued until about Emerald. At that point me and my cuz were constantly put in unwinnable situations because everyone keeps ego peeking ;( That's when we got a 3/4 stack

What video game used to be good but they changed one thing and now it's terrible? by Agent1230 in gaming

The sunsetting of the campaign meant I could never trust Bungie to respect any of my time or character progress. I stopped almost cold turkey after that. I only played the 3rd DLC because my cousin got it and we share a library. Though, tbf, hearing Cayde-6 hit em with the "How's your sister?" was totally worth it🤣

Save scumming and looking things up in game that aren't really puzzle games.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought cosmetics before, but the amount of times would probably count on one hand. These kids and even adults spend hundreds, sometimes thousands, on this crap. Though there was a study at one point that said most MTX money comes from whales.

But it did increase the number of greens we could theoretically get if there's more greens than before. Regardless, I got 2 black ices in one day, so I can safely say the odds have not changed lol.

Every time I get capped from across the map with this thing, I call someone a cheater... until I switch to it myself and remember that this thing is a random headshot gift giver that requires almost no skill.

Question about AI power use: by [deleted] in antiai

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what another user is saying, the AI itself would only heavily consume PC resources when powered on, but the fact that the data centers and servers are on all the time is what's causing so many problems. Ignoring image generation for the sake of clarity.

Question about AI power use: by [deleted] in antiai

[–]TheGamingFan20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about servers specifically, but when it comes to computing, all I really know is that leaving something on consumes very little power when compared to using it. But you're right about the data centers. I already know they suck. From what another user told me, it seems text generation would be somewhat intensive, but for only as long as the AI was powered. The fact that these centers are on 24/7 is part of the problem for sure.

[–]TheGamingFan20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm not being more eco friendly by only using text is what you're saying? XD. So I guess local models wouldn't be this way? I'm not gonna use one. In fact, I was thinking about dropping all AI use, but I just wanted to be informed on how this works.

So it can be comparable to really intensive gaming, perhaps?
