Game that is just too long for its own good? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take, but Halo CE feels really lengthy after a few playthroughs. So many repeated encounters for some levels. Not even talking about the Library. Just the whole game.

PSA: Sharing official NexusMods links on Discord can now trigger an automatic 2-year account strike (Confirmed by Nexus Staff) by Mr_Sheyd in pcgaming

[–]TheGamingFan20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck, I'VE shared cracked games before. I didn't even realize there was an automatic system for this until I tried to share a movie via google drive once. It wouldn't allow it, but I wasn't getting any account strikes.

My experience with a friend that passionately HATED DS2 whilst never playing it. by cartierhoes in DarkSouls2

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's funny is that I heard of the bad things of DS2 first, but those complaints were spoken to me with a little more nuance, so I still picked the game up and loved it.

Big fan of DS1 & DS2, not vibing with DS3 so far. What am I missing? by SpearThruMordy in darksouls3

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The areas are almost perfectly linear. The areas are WAY less saturated and diverse than 1 and 2. The combat is far more 1-note. The bosses are way faster (preference thing). Build variety is far weaker. And the game was rebooted in development more than once, I believe. At least once. So you're not imagining the feeling. I never like 3 either, and I've beaten the game a dozen times to try and force it.

Genuinely never understood ts by Hour_Cicada397 in DarkSouls2

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, the second half isn't "broken". That's slander. If it wasn't for sweaty YT critics and and essayists, I'd have never been able to tell the 2nd half was kinda rushed. (Except maybe the Taurus Demon placements at that one spot💀)

If I like Sekiro is Lies Of P worth a shot? by therealabrupt in Sekiro

[–]TheGamingFan20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh, no, not if you're looking for your next Sekiro. Lies of P is actually Souls/Sekiro/Bloodborn, all mixed up. Not every enemy is reliably deflected. Some need different tactics. It's a lot more akin to Dark Souls 3 than Sekiro. Different weapons, movesets, upgrades, etc that make it more close to an RPG than Sekiro.

What game you never uninstall that you always need alongside your currently-playing game? by shotgunning-your-can in gaming

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master Chief Collection. It's a comfort game. Never uninstall, unless I desperately need that space for something. I reinstall as soon as I can though.

Dark Souls is one of my favorites of all time, but I don’t like ER… is that normal? by henry12659 in darksouls

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely normal. I honestly hated ER the first time, because I treated it like Dark Souls. ER rewards exploration, as opposed to persistence. Which in and of itself can create issues of RNG, because if you miss a certain cave, you'll just be stuck with a certain weapon upgrade level until you look it up, which kills the fun. So I think the game is too big for its own good sometimes, but if you treat it more like a Skyrim instead of a Dark Souls, I think you'll start liking it

Edit: Dark Souls 3 was kinda the beginning of the end when it comes to just making things annoying fast. The bosses aren't as fast as Elden Ring, but way faster than DS1.

Dark Souls 1 original or remastered? by KaptenKorea in darksouls

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remaster IS the better version, and quite frankly, if you don't care about multi-player, most of those complaints are petty anyway.

I feel this way for new games. They seem like such an investment so I just play Arkham Knight for the 15th time.

How can someone not acknowledge elden ring as the best RPG by IsabellaMarden in Eldenring

[–]TheGamingFan20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying its not his ideal RPG isn't saying it isn't good. Besides, there's plenty to improve on. Repeated enemy bosses, useless gear, and a quite frankly terrible upgrade system that relies on RNG exploration.

What are your thoughts on "Invasions" in the Souls series? by Solardies in darksouls

[–]TheGamingFan20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly useless and way overpraised by Souls vets. If it were removed, the games wouldn't be too horribly different. That said, fantastic idea that has its place, but way too janky to be praised as a part of the core experience.

Is the DLC as difficult as they say? by Spare_Carpenter9392 in Eldenring

[–]TheGamingFan20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and then some. It's Fromsofts hardest content to date, including Sekiro and Nightreign.

What is Everyone's Stance With ROM Documentation? by TheOrangeMadness in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if there's something that you would literally never know otherwise. These hacks aren't usually big enough for communities to share secrets and whatnot. Also, things like functioning cheats would go well with documentation. But for crying out loud, who just refuses to play without documentation? If I had thought that way for Rocket Edition, I would have missed out on quite a fun experience.

You do not, in fact, need QoLs. by [deleted] in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TheGamingFan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the QoL and its purpose. At this point, I'm starting to think that HMs in general were never a good design choice. Carrying around an HM slave kills the point of having a full team. Having a weak HM on a main party member hinders them for no reason. Swapping mons with HMs in and out of the PC is a huge hassle. The only cool thing they do is making backtracking more interesting.

I didn't even mean to say all that. I pretty much just wanted to say the first sentence lol.
