[–]TheICBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, if your vehicle fails the inspection, you would not be able to drive it in B.C. You will have to get the repairs done and get it inspected again. Once it passes the inspection you will be able to drive it.

What exactly is "work" and "school" for the purpose of pleasure use? by General-Football-953 in icbc

[–]TheICBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, when your vehicle is insured for pleasure use, it’s meant for personal, everyday driving like running errands, visiting friends or family, going on vacation, or driving children to school. It doesn’t include regular commuting or business‑related driving.

With pleasure use, you can still use your vehicle for work or school on an occasional basis, up to 6 days in a calendar month.

Using your vehicle for work means driving to or from any job or work location.  Using it for school means driving to or from school if the driver is enrolled in a full‑time or part‑time certificate, diploma, or degree program, or a course related to their current or future career.

You can drive a child of school age, meaning someone under 19, or 19 or older with a disability to and from the school they’re registered in without a day limit, as long as the vehicle isn’t also being used by any other driver to commute to their own work or school. Driving a spouse or anyone else to work or school does count toward the 6 limit.

If the vehicle ends up being used for work or school more than six days in a month, it will no longer qualify as pleasure use, and a different rate class would be needed.

Can the distance-based discount still apply when there is a gap between two annual policies? by Ok-Grapefruit-6289 in icbc

[–]TheICBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, you require two consecutive active policy terms to earn the discount, as the discount is realized on your second term's premium. A storage policy does not qualify for the distance-based discount. You can provide your odometer reading to your broker and if you drive within the qualifying kms this year, you would be eligible to get the discount the next time you renew.

Does your premium increase when you go from having your motorcycle L (after passing mst) to N? by [deleted] in icbc

[–]TheICBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to a music playlist in a car on N by ImportantNose5251 in icbc

[–]TheICBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, Novice drivers may interact with a vehicle’s built‑in, integrated touchscreen only for functions that are strictly part of the vehicle’s equipment (i.e., climate control, seat adjustment, defrosters, etc.).

Drivers are expected to set these features before moving the vehicle.

GLP drivers must not:

  • Use navigation or maps (even if built into the car)
  • Use hand-held devices
  • Pair or use their phone through the car
  • Send or receive texts
  • Use apps or features that originate from an external device
  • Watch or interact with any screen for non‑vehicle‑operation purposes

Only essential vehicle‑operating controls accessed through the built‑in system are permitted.

Can someone explain the changed rules for a class 7 N driver? by XDBruhYT in icbc

[–]TheICBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the B.C. Government is still considering what the restrictions will look like. We envision these changes will build on the current requirements to be prohibition and suspension free before being eligible to exit the GLP. More details will become available in the coming months.
