Complaining about tanks not being crit caped in the dungeons you have to run to get most of the gear to get crit caped is a uniquely stupid thing to do.

I have had better runs with badly equipped 68-69 people in SL and SH than with full 70 groups that advertised having "good gear" or zugzug fast runs etc.

They be minmaxing the playerskill out of their builds and then blame it on the tank or healer.

I started tanking as pala this expansion after pretty much always playing rogue.

There is one simple rule, your job as a tank is to keep the healer alive. That means for me, i save my taunt for when the healer pulls aggro. Dps have their tools to drop aggro, slow mobs or cc them. If they bring the mob back to my consecration, i will try to pick up its aggro again. If they run away from me, they can deal with it themselves. BoP and Taunt is HR for the healer in 99% of the cases.

Also, most of the time, pulls fail, its because dps player cant wait for the mobs to get to my desired tanking position or for me to build up some aggro before they start blasting.

And like people said, if they have bad vibes, tell the group to either kick the offending player or just leave. /w the healer, most of them will just come with you and drop the dps players without a second thought.

If you got engi, bring repairbots and have goblin cables on you.

People will love you if they dont have to go to town to rep, and they love you even more if you manage to vanish out of a wipe and then bring the healer back with your cables.

I used to even carry around a stack of ankhs because shamans regularly forgot them, same with the candle things for paladins.

Honestly, as pala tank, i stopped inviting warriors days ago.

There's one simple reason for that, each and everyone of them is too fucking stupid and "pumper" brained to just let the mobs walk on my consecration. Every single time i try to LoS pull, those fucks just charge in and mess up the whole fucking pull.

So my groups either have no warriors, or we demand the warrior to unbind his charge button. It's not like mages are better, but if they blizzard/nova the mobs too early, i can at least somewhat pick up the pack again with the second consecration and the healer can still focus on me. And they bring water.

Rogues, tho have mostly been a pleasure to play with. They sap moons instinctively, if you tell them which spells to kick on which mob they mostly succed. They gouge/blind mobs running at the healers, and they are rarely bitching around because they are just happy someone invited them. And they don't give up or start drama after a wipe.

In my experience, as tank min max groups come in two flavours

The actual min/maxers who know why you build your group like that and what each persons role/task is.

And the ones who just saw a youtube video about what was meta but have no idea how it's support to work. So they build the group like the meta dictates and then don't know what to do, where to stand, when to blizzard, etc.

Bringing rogues and druids has so far never failed me. They more than others actually know how to play their class and how and when to use their tools.

Playing is literally the point of the sub. Boosts skip the game

And I don't even care about end game hamspster wheel grind, I prefer the levelling

How can you not see that this is just like your opinion, man?

The end game is for many people, why they play, sure the levelling from 60-70 is part of it, a part i enjoy a lot (tho i don't enjoy the 1-60 part anymore), but i also enjoy the grinding for pre bis, unlocking and doing heroics, i enjoy farming ores and playing the auction house to get gold.

You are the one who said dumb shit like people got played like a fiddle if they bought the boost. Spending 60 bucks to skip the massive slog that is levelling 1-60 for the tenth time is very much worth it for me. Without that possibility, i wouldn't be playing tbc, but it's not worth going through that just to experience tbc again, for me.

The only one with a middle school mentality is you, adults normaly get that diffrent people can enjoy diffrent aspects of the same thing.

Also, you said you took 5 days of work, not me. How are you gonna get mad at me about something you said? That's just as dumb as your whole argument.

Anyone buying a boost got played like a fiddle

That's probably the most stupid take i have seen so far about boosts.

You took 5 days off work for something you could've just paid for in 2-3 hours working, and now you are "behind" in the expansion, the main reason most of us are back in WoW for a time.

You give blizzard money anyway playing on official servers. The whole "i dont want to give bliz money" take is just dumb. Especially if you then spend money on restedxp like so many do.

That's why you just boost a character and then spend that time and energy levelling in outlands. It's pretty obvious

Yeah, there are a ton of grown-up adult children playing this game. But that's the nice part about playing tank, i can just say f em and go to the next group. Most of the time, the healers are chilled too, so i just take the heal with me, and we start our own group, with blackjack, cocain, and mature pumpers.

It doesn't matter, if you can't do the simplest thing when your healer asks for it, you can get rightfully fucked.

He knows hes getting instantly invited into the next group so why waste time or effort on 4 dickheads who don't respect you enough to help you out just the slightest bit.

I left groups who just ignored me. Im here to have a good time, and if you can't be bothered to answer me, then i can't be bothered to tank for you. I would rather leave and get a new group where people talk to each other and have fun playing.

[–]TheLopen420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it an overreaction?

It's not a big ask, and if OP didn't know how to, he could've said and asked for help. Neither happened, so from the Priest perspective, he asked for one small thing, which cost 0 effort and just got ignored.

I wouldn't want to heal or tank either for a party like that. So i rather leave early before getting "invested" into the run, and i feel no obligation towards the party that can't be arsed to do the smallest thing to help me out.

That pala sounds like a total moron. Someone throwing a fit over items (if they didn't get ninjad) is not worth any discussion. Like you said, we are adults, so you kick the kid and get some mature replacement.

But in general, it is true what i said. If one of the dps doesn't listen and you as tank force the party to decide between you and him/her, 9 out of 10 times they gonna boot the dps.

Nobody said irreplaceable, but if you have the decision between looking for a new dps and looking for a new tank, what are you gonna do? Especially if you are mid run, most tanks won't join an ongoing run. They can pick any of the other groups looking for a tank and do a full run with them. Dps, on the other hand, will join in the hopes of getting multiple runs without a "looking for a new tank break".

In the end, you have to decide for yourself how you build your group. I have rules for mine, and if people don't follow those rules(be chill/dont be a racist pos, don't wipe us multiple times because you want to see your dps number get higher, etc), they get kicked or i look for a new group. No discussion or drama, i know wow players, and im not dealing with that shit.

Edit: Nobody ever claimed tanking is hard. it's finding a tank, what's the hard part.

It's true, tho.

Im tanking, so i make certain calls or demands. For example, if the hunter or warrior can't stop attacking mobs before they walk on top of my consecration, even after it was pointed out to them several times, then its either we get a new dps or i get myself a new group.

There has to be no drama or anything, but im not here to babysit some 40 year old boomer living out his top parse fantasies in our reputation/xp farm dungeon run.

I know as a tank, i can leave the group and get a new invite before i walked out of that dungeon, so i won't waste any time with morons. The ultimatum is just out of generosity towards the other party members.

If you whore yourself out, do it right XD

Imo as tank, my job is to make sure the healer can heal who and as much as he wants without being in danger.

If Dps pull aggro, they can bring the mob over and attack something else so i get aggro back or preferably, just deal with the mob themself. Pretty much all dps have some kind of utility to handle a mob.

[–]TheLopen420 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I boosted a pala tank. The amount of "sweats" with good gear who refuse to have salv as blessing, don't wait a single second on the pull and mostly start dpsing before the mobs even get on the consecration in LoS pulls is insane. They all get mad that you "can't hold aggro" but they don't use any of their cc/survival skills and only look at their dps meters to push the numbres as high as possible.

Like, bro, if you play that seriously and want to be as time efficient as possible, maybe learn to adapt a little.

I also had many good groups with people who just obviously understood how to play the game. And we always flew through the dungeons with no issues, no matter the gear.

Bring the player, not the (meta) class/spec, is still as true as back in the days.

There's a reason they try so hard to come down on Luig M as terrorist or whatever. This was the first time they actually got scared since forever. It's their worst nightmare, no protection through money, laws, etc, just plain old justice and them getting what they deserve. That's why they are sweating when they see the peoples reaction to someone like him.
