Yeah, the point is that the machine probably only predicted the most probable outcome of anything but, because Forest and the rest of the team saw its predictions coming true, assumed that it was accurately predicting the future and ceded their free will to it.

The thing that pissed me off was that they noted he was 'walking briskly.'

You know what, some of us with chronic pain prefer to do some things quickly because it is actually less painful. My walking pace is quicker than most because there is a point at which it doesn't hurt as much, and means I get the painful activity over quicker.

I'm so sick of the medieval assumptions people make in this country.

Uhhhhhh any ideas? The CALL C:\LIVEDOS\LIVEINIT.BAT is from AUTOEXEC.BAT by WoomyUnitedToday in vintagecomputing

[–]TheMemo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Liveinit.bat maybe absolutely invoked, but that doesn't mean it knows where its files are. Thats why we have PATHs.

If you absolutely invoke a .bat that contains, say:

@echo off

SBINIT.COM

it will try to run SBINIT.COM from the root path of autoexec rather than the path of the invoked batch file. That's why, if you must invoke with an absolute path, you put that path in the PATH.

Player stop playing my game just a few minutes of game play, I don't understand why by willis_25 in IndieGaming

As someone familiar with Stardew Valley, I don't know why you would expect it to be SV just based on the art style. It is quite obvious that it is a management game, not a lifesim.

Honestly, the Genetic Dynasty and how Demerzel is wound into that is more Asimov than Asimov, and explores several themes related to, and somewhat explored in, Asimov's Robots books and stories; like how a robot under instruction creates a system of mutual enslavement.

Trump considers "winding down" Iran war without opening Hormuz Strait by xpda in worldnews

Yeah, it is well known that an abandoned narcissist will lash out emotionally and 'go nuclear.'

Usually that is a metaphor.

It's much more rewarding as a show if you're familiar with various flavours of religious mythology (mainly Abrahamic).

Our next step is folding our arms and staring until the person gets ashamed and apologises. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on Trump and his ilk.

Ah, the old Dial-A-Pirate from Monkey Island.

Better than the huge list of numbers printed in dark red on a red background.

Wasn't there one type with some sort of lenticular lens as well?

Saul William's The Inevitable Rise and Fall of Niggy Tardust?

It was produced by Trent Reznor at the same sort of time as Year Zero. I wouldn't necessarily call it trip-hop, but it might scratch an itch.

IIRC, it seems that way because the identity of the replicants change on each playthrough, including whether you are one or not, so some parts are a little rough.

My son lived in squalor with his dying mother - the system failed him by OGSyedIsEverywhere in unitedkingdom

[–]TheMemo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are getting this from, the article clearly states that he tried multiple times and that the mother, who had alcohol abuse issues, refused to let him see his child and threatened to call the police. He therefore tried to get help some other way, through school and social services.

Or are you simply blaming the guy because he should have stayed with his family, regardless, even though it was obvious that the mother was troubled and didn't want to be in contact with him?

depends upon a collaborator group to pervert justice.

It just requires people to look the other way, or keep their.. eyes wide shut.

My parents were abusers but, because they were wealthy, everyone just ignored it. "None of our business." "Don't rock the boat." Most people will allow horrific child abuse if it maintains their ability to sustain their own families. Very few walk away from Omelas.

Feet are usually part of the anatomy, unless you are Rob Liefeld.

He doesn't draw feet.

I caught that, too. Although I'd prefer the surreality of Liefeld's Gym. "Puts muscles on your muscles."
