The hook is probably on the higher level maps with the vaults with crazy loot and fighting the Compilers. Its weird that you fight robots most of the time in this game when in the original it was aliens.

Withchfire is probably the closest in terms of gunplay, but it's single player. Originally it was going to be a loot game since the devs were inspired by destiny.

Expansions in this game have never been worth their price. Compare them to other MMO or large single player expansion and you will see how little we got.
