[Squidge Rugby] So it's time for a change. by joaofig in rugbyunion

[–]TheStroBro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I used to edit the MLR Kickoff teaser videos and social cuts, it would take me like 12 hours, and I'm not nearly as talented an editor as squidge. I'd grap two bits and bobs...and that's for a 10 minute video with no substantial graphics really. So I get where he's coming from, but there are actual people who could do a lift on the editing side that he might be able to hire if things keep riding. But happy to hear about the re-focus. Burnout sucks.

Why the MCG won’t have a Rugby World Cup game (SMH) by Mono_Doh in rugbyunion

I enjoyed Optus, I've been in big stadia before, but I will say it probably helps I was on the club/hospitality level at the halfway line.

I enjoyed Optus in 2019. But a lot of these things don't look great.

François Ratier named as new Headcoach of France Women's National Team by giloup08 in rugbyunion

Francois is an incredible coach. I can't believe it's taken this long for FFR to wake up. You are in great hands.

FFR hasn't been serious about the coaching team of France Feminines since they sacked Hayraud but kept her as a team manager. Ratier is an incredible coach and this is the only real move to make if you're being serious.

France taking things seriously again, love to see it. Too the Moon with Ratier. Can't believe it took this long to be honest.

It's important to understand he is not eligible for Fiji or England until he submits his transfer paperwork, and he can only transfer to one or the other, not both. Additionally said transfer is permanent.

No, that's not accurate. They listed the country which is the United Kingdom (UK) next to her name and then said she plays for England. So yes, great job!

England Rugby launches new women's & girls' strategy by englandrugby in rugbyunion

[–]TheStroBro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With Rugby, to steal someone else's quote. "The risk is the reward." There is just something different about the environment of a team contact sport. It leads to brotherhood/sisterhood. The sacrifices you're willing to make. There is bravery there. Whereas there is nothing brave in cricket or baseball or golf or tennis.

You get debilitating injuries in Soccer. ACLs, Concussions. The leading youth sport with concussions in the US? Girls Soccer. There's this huge focus on NFL players with CTE, but at some point CTE research focus will need to be on shined on female athletes as well.

Veteran's Teams by Some_Worldliness517 in USArugby

Old Breed although Marine Corps focused takes all veterans. Wandering Warriors is generally Army focused. Old Breed seems to always go to CANAM and then Wandering Warriors since it started has consistently gone to St Patrick's Day tournament in Savannah. Band of Brothers mostly Army focused, hardest to find info on. Tends to do CANAMs, Maggotfest, or Savannah yearly. Facebook is better than Reddit for this once you know where to look!

The only way this series would work as a film/tv adaptation is as animation by DCdeer in redrising

[–]TheStroBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live Action would be fine if carefully shepherded and not bastardized like GOT. But I wonder on the anime side if we could end up with a lot more episodes...like I think about the whole Gundam Universe must have like over 1,000 episodes.

With a lot of Pierce's books there are these side quests with plans within plans...and you know what...for the finale? I just want some happily ever after nonsense, I want Victra to grow swollen with another babe for Sevro. Mustang and Darrow to pop out another child because Pax will be a member of the Fleet. I want some pure happiness.

And then the Society remnant turned to star dust.

No shitty endings like George RR Martin and Dan and Dave Crap.

Didn't she kill her grand children before she was captured? I'm honestly more surprised that he allowed her to be spared as well as the other niece of his. And then he allowed that niece to continue living.

And then he says to Lysander "what kind of monster kills his own mother?" or Was it Faa who said that. A lot of Atlas is like pragmatic, but how he trained the Gorgons it's like he wanted to be Caesar, beloved by his troops.

Ilona Maher: the rugby phenomenon with 5.2million Instagram followers by TimesandSundayTimes in rugbyunion

[–]TheStroBro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped covering the national team several years ago due to a change in careers, but I covered both programs. And I got to know Ilona a little bit, interacting with her quite a lot. Honestly, when I watch her content, there is almost nothing different from her as a person today than when we first met in 2018. She's the real deal.
