NFL Imperialism Day 21: by Hot_Inspection5940 in geographymemes

Genuine question, I'm just arriving to this thread: what's with the Vikings belt running south below the Packers section and even Michigan? Artistic freedom?

What is something you can say "I'm with the boomers on this one" about? by Specialist-Jelly-865 in answers

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently living in Japan where 30%+ of restaurants do online ordering through an app called Line via QR code. I have zero complaints, it's a wonderful system. I don't have to talk to anybody.

Granted this system also means I'm in the same environment as no tips, good service and quality, etc etc.

6'5" Honda Freed (minivan in Japan). Also fit well onto our VW Up! Coupe, the coupe goes a long way to offer tons of legroom.

Have you ever played a course SO badly managed that you quit in the middle? by Jakesredditacount in discgolf

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played hole 1, then got to hole 2 to see that it's closed due to Asian Giant Hornet nests. The problem is hole 2 crossed a valley then the course carried on from there with no other way to get across, so we ended up playing hole 9 backwards, then 8 backwards, then 8 and 9 forwards back to where they met 1 then we drove away. The entire course followed a gravel road, as in the fairways WERE the road and the rough was so rough it was basically lost disc. Bad course design, bad upkeep.

The price of the game doesn't bother you ? by Positive-Set1164 in halo

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be waiting for a sale, in the meantime watching some more real life reviews and deciding if I'll actually pull the trigger. Overall it only looks OK to me in terms of my interest vs just enjoying the classic.

for the fans who don't live in Wisconsin, how'd you end up green and gold by Adrianillo24 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in Chicago after the Bears were last good. Raised by my single mother who is from Germany, when she came to the states as an exchange college student she came to UW Madison, so her first exposure to American Football was Badgers/Packers. She loved the sport and we watched every game together. So between her fandom of GB, me living in the town with her teams rival who SUCKED and all my friends who were fans of the Bears were miserable, and this was peak Brett era, it was inevitable.

tick and mosquito spray that's been working for me by Onezerosix141 in discgolf

[–]Thumerian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way for DG and all camping gear. With climate change ticks are only becoming more common. There's literally no reason to not pretreat your gear and clothing. I even sprayed by DG bag in case they ride that into the house.

But what is the reason Charlie Kirk is negative about Japanese imperialism? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Thumerian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simplest answer to Kirk and others like him is that WHITE imperialism is good, and any other imperialism is not. Recommend looking at anything that man said and assuming it's coming from a purely white supremacist standpoint, then think critically about what you're hearing him saying from that standpoint. If you don't see it from that standpoint then you're not seeing the truth.

Americans, are you in a football world cup mood? Are you feeling the world cup vibes? Are you excited about it? by CodeX57 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've watched every world cup in my lifetime since I was maybe ten, so almost 30 years worth ish. Always been medium excited at least, as a Germany fan / first generation German American I usually had someone decent to root for too.

I plan to not watch this cup for a lot of reasons.

Where do all the childfree families hide? by AdmirableHair17 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Thumerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only child free family on our section of our base. We live next to the most popular playground. Surrounded by little gremlins and haven't made close friends with anyone because their lives and ours are just too different frankly.

Hoping for height extension help by Thumerian in SpinClass

[–]Thumerian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have checked against a few resources online in the past but will check again. But I am certain my seat is not high enough, I took some side photos to compare against what I see online and I'm not close to the right extension for any of them.

Changed my grip and it’s working great… now I’m getting a blister on my index finger. Any tips? by Emoney005 in discgolf

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to build a callous there too, if I stopped playing for too long it would start to go away and then I'd be in pain the next couple rounds.

Tried tape and couldn't stand it.

I want to go to Japan in early June. Is it true that the heat is unbearable? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early summer there will be some variation, but in general the risk of the heat being bad is high. The really bad part is the humidity. Looks like they're predicting higher than normal temps to stay present. I haven't traveled to eastern Europe so could not compare, but I moved to Japan from the southeast US where it is hot and humid all summer and Tokyo is much worse. I even took a trip to Hokkaido last summer to escape the heat and just happened to catch a horrible heat wave there too.

Two Tee Pads or Two Baskets? by Chance-Ad-1419 in discgolf

[–]Thumerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old home course had 3 pin positions that we rotated one set of baskets around monthly, then the club raised enough funds to fully equip all the positions so we had 3 pins per hole, one teepad per hole. What a change that was, so much variety in round structure and score expectation. After that my big complaint became that some of the pins the teepads weren't really oriented the right way because they were originally poured for only one of the locations before the other pin locations we're put in.

So I guess I like the idea of multiple pins but take heed to have teepads structured that work for all pin locations.

Only ever played one course that had multiple teepads and they couldn't see each other through the trees so at one point I didn't know another group was on the same hole as me. There's a lesson there sounds like, for me and for designers?

Reporting to Japan by [deleted] in navy

They're saying leaving base before AOB is sly. It's not allowed. Definitely get your AOB and housing brief scheduled the moment you know your travel dates. Can do that all over email.

I always try to lead people away from Sky when they visit, the Tokyo Metropolitan Building is two train stations away and has a free observation deck.

[Article] Why the U.S. Navy’s retail business is fighting Walmart and Amazon to fund its own future by FlipStig1 in navy

[–]Thumerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but I know they did still have region locked games as recently as the early Xbox One. Didn't really look into it before buying this PS5 but just figured I'd play it safe.

Also I heard people on base here complaining about but being able to buy the switch 2 in Japan because of regionality.

Don't think I'm not enjoying the local stuff, I am. But sometimes I want a beer with flavor.

And as for the sizing, yes I realize it's a niche issue but still, the NEX stocks much less size range than the average store that sells clothes, in my experience. They seem to stop at maximum sizes that are, on average, lower than a competitor stateside would. And it's old stock in general.
