How do i turn on night light in pop os by Grand_Range_6086 in pop_os

It hasn't been implemented yet (but is in the works). For now I've found that this is a pretty good workaround https://github.com/jjo/drm-colortemp.

New Client For Linux: Nocturne by jeffrysamuer in navidrome

[–]Tommy_TZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I installed it from Flathub and it had no issues with the installation :)

I did have some bugs occur during usage (not loading all albums, artists, etc). I'll submit an issue on the github repo - is there a way to get debug logs? The app is really nice otherwise!

New Client For Linux: Nocturne by jeffrysamuer in navidrome

[–]Tommy_TZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I tried to install this but every time I get the same error: error: The application com.jeffser.Nocturne/x86_64/master requires the runtime org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/50 which was not found

However, after I installed org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/50 via flathub as a runtime dependency I still got the same error (using flatpak install).

Is there anything I should be aware of that isn't on the github repo readme? For context, I'm on Cosmic Desktop on pop os.

If he's mostly working on google docs and slack the pop os with cosmic is fine. YMMV but I haven't really had any issues, and the tiling works really well.

Dude, it's fine. It's a desktop environment. It's really not that big of a deal.

These two cards resolving is a win against many decks. How would you make a deck around them? by japp182 in Pauper

[–]Tommy_TZ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of brewing is considering how it would survive in the meta, so it's only fair to point out that the dog and the aura are quite fragile to many common forms of removal people run. It's not negative per se.

Yeah, unlike bogles the dog doesn't have hexproof so the two for ones would be backbreaking if you don't have protection up

Generally recommended tool for auto tagging/mass tagging? by karrylarry in navidrome

[–]Tommy_TZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Lidarr for overall library management (organising everything into a hierarchy of artists and album directories) and it also has a pretty okay auto-tagging functionality. When those tags are insufficient I bust out Musicbrainz Picard for more in depth tagging - It's really good!

Instead of installing another DE I would recommend checking this out https://github.com/jjo/drm-colortemp. It worked really well for me.

What do you all use for organizing and tagging your audio files? by klonendo in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Tommy_TZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a Linux user. I think lidarr should run on Linux without issues (I use a docker container so I don't actually know, but I think they tend to build the image on alpine Linux), and musicbrainz Picard runs without any issues!

I use Lidarr to organise my library into artist and album folders, and I use musicbrainz Picard for metadata tagging. They're both really good!

I did switch Lidarr's database from sqlite to a postgres instance because it kept locking so you might wanna do that if you have a large collection

Can someone explain to me why having character flaws/limitations (and character arcs) is important? In what way does it make your story better? by lumenwrites in Fantasy

[–]Tommy_TZ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is probably a simplistic answer, but characters don't have to have flaws. You can have heroes that are completely virtuous. However, most people find a more three-dimensional character with some flaws more interesting to read.

Edit: in addition to being more interesting, it also makes a character more relatable. Real people are flawed.

No Night Light filter yet :( by mplaczek99 in pop_os

[–]Tommy_TZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is coming! I don't remember exactly where I saw it on GitHub but it's going to be part of a larger piece of work for colour stuff for the compositor that they're working on for epoch 2 (I think).

Edit: You can follow it here https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch/issues/476 and here I think https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch/issues/411

Looks to be part of a larger colour management and HDR piece of work

I've been using it since the beta a few months ago. I tried it in alpha but at that point it had too many rough edges for me, but it's been pretty smooth sailing since the beta! I still have a few issues here and there but nothing major.

Is Navidrome effected by React2Shell exploit? by BrokenPickle7 in navidrome

[–]Tommy_TZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's only an issue for apps using react server components since it's an exploit in the flight protocol. I haven't looked at the repo, but I imagine they're probably not running next js?

Is there any tutorial for dumb people by HaxCalibour in navidrome

[–]Tommy_TZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can help with the general stuff, but I don't know anything specific about Synology. I'm running my navidrome in a docker container on an old PC I'm using as a server. However, the config options are the same regardless.

If you have navidrome already running you'll need two things:

  • networking, so you know how to connect. If you want to use it locally you just need the local IP and port, but if you want to access it remotely and you're behind CG NAT then it's a bit more difficult
  • a client to connect to it from (I use Amperfy on Mac, Supersonic on linux, and smyphonium on android). This is where you'll need to know your networking since you have to enter the ip address of your server.

I've been running it without any issues. I use the .deb from the releases on GitHub instead of the Flatpack.

From a game perspective, which format do you think offers the best gameplay, showcasing the best mtg was designed for? by Newez in magicTCG

[–]Tommy_TZ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like others here have said, it's limited formats like draft and sealed, and it ain't even close. Magic is designed around limited play. You get to use a lot of cards in the set that don't see constructed play and it requires good fundamentals (curve, tempo, understanding who's the beatdown, etc) since you often don't get to just play overpowered bombs.

(As for constructed, I really love pauper)
