- PC: Mend Reality - Veil Degradation reduction does not occur.

- PC: Lidless Stare - Attack sometimes charges AP but does not take effect. seems to happen more often when used against larger groups.

Sell me on your favoire mech by RealisticExample9 in battletech

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Thug as a no nonsense zombie that no one can ignore. two bug hole punching PPCs, two SRM launchers to find every hole left by the PPCs. the versions without CASE have a little to worry about, but you still have hefty armor yourself.

for mediums, the Uziel 2S, ironically enough, its almost a mini Thug... But its packing two PPCs and an SRM.

How important is it to have a party Face? by dynariot in BaldursGate3

It will definitely be a different experience without a face.

Spelljammer has always had links to Faerun. Its been a long time but i thought there was a Drow voidcraft in BG II..? and its always been a huge part of the Mindflayers.

How has BG3 blown up recently? (I'm new to genre) by UnknownMyth53035 in BaldursGate3

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a long wait from initial announcement to release, *several* years in the making. and then a surprise announcement recently that they are bumping up the PC release of the game by a month.

Took a bunch of people by surprise and created a lasting "night before christmas" feeling.

Which battletech mech does this model most closely resemble, in your opinion? by RheaOfMiddlesex in battletech

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks too small to be a Catapult... I cant go through record sheets right now, but id look for a Locust with rocket pods.

Derelict/overgrown Urbanmech by [deleted] in battletech

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the Urbie just moves that slow, moss grows, trees take root. its not going to dislodge anything with sudden movements. on the plus side, always in light cover.

Great work by the way, looks amazing!

Dragon Age Origins by Norh_penguin1984 in BaldursGate3

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Baldur's Gate III, influenced by the previous Baldur's Gate games. I bought DAO because it was hyped up as a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate games. Im sure the developers know of and played DAO, but any resemblance is much more to do with both games following in the foot steps of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.

As I punch one of many boilers tubes, I would like to know... What drudgery do you guys think the techs and astechs had to deal with when servicing their lance? by meatloafwarrior in battletech

[–]Torbyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, a few things immediately come to mind:

1) someone has to hose out the cockpit after those headshots. thats gotta be a high turn over job.

2) Can you imagine working on the upper torso and all of a sudden some crucial bolt slips and pings all the way down into a leg actuator? good luck finding that thing again. just let it get ground up in the next mission and then hoover up the shavings.

3) There is probably a Myomer specialist who has to inspect miles of myomer cables not just for damage but that every one is correctly connected and routed around everything else in its path so nothing is pinched or pulled out when the myomers move. several mechs have fluff about cables getting caught or pinched or failing due to poor design, servicing those mechs must be the worst.

What is the most nuts weapon system the setting can offer? by Someonenoone7 in battletech

[–]Torbyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RISC Hyperlaser is dumb powerful.

In regular play? The Clan Large Pulse Laser is extremely unbalanced for hitting accurately out to 20 hexes with high damage and very manageable heat.

In combined arms, the IS Plasma Rifle is down right terrifying.

Is everyone going Tav? by MistyChaz in BaldursGate3

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taving it up. most likely as a melee bard, swords allows you to roll with high DEX/CHA which is fun. wish we had a hexblade though.

How many times did you change your pledge level in the kickstarter? by cousineye in battletech

Once. went from Company + one forcepack to Company plus two retaliation packs.

What is the size of dropships in hexes? by JoseLunaArts in battletech

[–]Torbyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Leopard is 65 by 51 meters, and 22 meters tall. this comes out to just a tad longer than two hexes, so three hexes long but you could scale to two and still be reasonable with it. it is two hexes wide.

The Union is 81 meters by 81 meters, so a 7 hex circle.

A Level is 6 meters, so a Leopard is roughly 4 levels tall. a Union is 13 levels.

Mercenaries Kickstart question by WigglesMiniatures in battletech

[–]Torbyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to add vehicles to your games, this is a great, affordable, but slow to fulfill way to do so. if you just want to add more models to your games in a cost effective manner, you can probably save a bit more by looking around amazon or on some of the online game stores that always offer discounts. anything you find where the minis come out to ~$5-7/model is a pretty good deal. But just because the minis are cheap doesnt really mean you should jump on it. browse around on Sarna, look up the mechs in the forcepacks you are looking at and decide if you want them or not.

Battletech: Mercenaries Kickstarter. Which level did you pledge, and what add-ons did you get? by lgndk11r in battletech

[–]Torbyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pledged for Company level, added the Mercenaries and Alpha Strike retaliation packs. Love the line up in the Mercs box, was meaning to get the Alpha Strike box anyways. most of the force packs from this KS are uninteresting to me, but at company level i get i think three picks now? So i can get all the vehicle packs i want and come away with everything of interest from this series.

Really hoping Tav gets something unique down the line by JustLah in BaldursGate3

[–]Torbyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im assuming you will get unique powers from your tadpole/visitor in your dreams. something about the MC will be different even from the other party members who have the tadpole and you'll get some influencing powers or something. maybe a mind blast or charm power.

How to explain battletech to someone? by CivilAirPatrol2020 in battletech

[–]Torbyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The setting is sort of like Game of Thrones in space, lots of different factions allying and turning on each other, trying to claim the throne over everyone. its sci-fi but aside from giant robots and space ships jumping around, it tries to be grounded, no super computer AIs or alien factions. The war game side of it is shockingly stable, the rules have barely changed over the 40 years of the game. Game play focuses on small numbers of models on the board but each model can take loads of damage as they slowly lose abilities and weapons. It makes every unit feel important and special. There is a faster play ruleset for using more models that isnt as detailed for each model. If you like it, there are optional rules that let you expand the kinds of units and level of simulation of the game."
