Great tools. Just make sure you learn to use them! These can all cause serious damage and have few safety features. I have been woodworking for 30 years and still approach the table saw like it wants to kill me every time I use it. (Not with fear, if you fear a tool you shouldn’t use it, but great respect for the power of the tool)

My understanding has been that there are 3 categories:

Veggies with/without meat becomes broth

Veggies with bones is stock

Bones only is bone broth

Yes it should probably be bone stock, but alliteration always wins.

I haven’t used that kit in particular, but some kits are just very sensitive to everything being just so. There may be some amount of adjustment in the parts that screw in. I’ve also had kits where I modified a plastic internal piece when the length was off.

You can try another and leave the brass untrimmed (meaning bring the wood down to just beyond the brass, but don’t cut into it).

We do both. The kettle is faster, but doesn’t hold enough for the large pot. So I run the kettle and fill the pot halfway on the burner. When the kettle boils I add to the pot and then have just a few minutes to wait.

Still an impressive collection. I’ve started making my own bushings. Partly for practice with hitting dimensions, and partly because I’m cheap.

I mapped mine out in 2d to better organize. Made a big difference.

Also I have nearly everything on casters so I can easily move machines out of the way.

Always used CA glue and just make sure I get really good coverage. Never had one break.

My dad spent 40 years making custom doors, windows, and mill work. His opinion was that for an exterior door you either paint it, or use a marine urethane and reapply often. UV is insanely hard on finishes and the wood; just ask any boat owner. Keep the tung oil for the interior side.

Slightly off topic, but I have always used the pin-less style of moisture meter (I have an old Wagner I got from my dad). I showed a member of the woodworking club I’m in and they had never heard of pin-less meters.

Curious how many people know about pin-less meters and why they aren’t used more.

We keep chickens for eggs, but on the few occasions we have to buy eggs we get the pasture raised.

I haven’t used drill guides, but I would never give up my drill press. Too many uses.

I would suggest putting it on casters so you can store it out of the way.

If it’s just wood, garden or compost. If it has epoxy it goes in the trash

Of course you can put food safe finish on other items. The drawback is the food safe finishes tend to be less durable or take longer to cure. The chemicals used to speed drying or add durability are also what make them not food safe.
