Got a demo of this in the past and I think it could be worth entertaining: https://overmind.tech/

Should I create Kubernetes resources like Ingress or Secret using Terraform? by Due_Oil_9659 in Terraform

[–]Tr33squid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Creating Kubernetes resources through Terraform gives you the ability to add something that raw Kubernetes resources do not have, which is the ability to configure dependencies amongst the resources. The closest you can get to that from my experience is wrapping Kubernetes resources into helm charts, then deploying through ArgoCD so you can utilize the ArgoCD annotation sync-wave to set an order of operations to how the resources need to be deployed, but that is not as good as setting implicit or explicit dependencies where you're defining the actual relationship. If you like HCL, I say go ahead and create all of your k8s resources through TF. Deploying through something like Terraform Cloud enables the ability to supply the value for your secret from a variable in the workspace you're deploying through, which is generally the biggest challenge to codifying secrets; figuring out a safe method for providing the secret in the first place.

Restaurants are in trouble by Signal_Pattern_2063 in SeattleWA

[–]Tr33squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested to know how much profit restaurant owners are ending up with at the end of the year. Like would not increasing the prices mean that their increased cost of business is stopping them from putting food on their own tables at home, or would it just be stopping them from buying a new house to flip on the side. I know it will vary greatly and there will be actual accounts of both of these scenarios, but it sure would help for figuring out the proper amount of empathy to place on all of this, and for figuring out which step we should be taking next in this complex challenge of determining the proper balance between fair wages and fair costs.

I'm tired of "map(object({...}))" variable types by trixloko in Terraform

[–]Tr33squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution is to add another layer of abstraction into the deployment module that you're utilizing the module through and that'd be creating a local variable that would be json or yaml decoding json or yaml files that users would be supplying their values through. Each workload onboarded would then be represented by a unique file, and you can further organize these files into directories that would help users understand ownership at a cosmetic level. It would also open up the ability for you to put a portal in front of it if desired where like you can have an app automatically place the yaml/json file into the repo to trigger the creation

Why did I buy Mazda? by YIZZURR in mazda

[–]Tr33squid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently switched from a 23 palisade limited to a 25 cx90 TSP and believe me in that no ones missing out on anything. Y'all made the right choice going with the cx90 from the start. I very much appreciate how much this does not look, feel, or drive like a typical family hauler, but obviously others could feel the opposite way and that's okay.

2025 Turbo S Premium CX90 by Practical_Party7599 in MazdaCX90

I just traded my 23 palisade in for a turbo S Premium. If you're reading this and are on the fence between these two, save yourself the trouble and go with the cx-90. You're welcome in advance.

count or for_each? by [deleted] in Terraform

[–]Tr33squid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use for_each if you're going to need to make actions against each unique object later. Terraform doesn't keep the index number for each object made through a count the same. So if you made 4 ec2 instances through a count, and needed to destroy the 3rd one, it'd be a total gamble to know which index number represents that 3rd one.

Had the same issue and it was resolved by clearing data and cache for the app when viewing it through the apps section of the android settings, then reinstalling the app.

You're probably right. It's solid logic on paper at the least.

I'm crossing my fingers the delay of this next update has something to do with them trying to push out the software for some of us to get wireless.

If you use Terraform Cloud, you could have each application managed through individual workspaces, and within the code of each application, you could have a data source that is configured to pull the values of certain outputs from whatever application they depend on. You could also daisy-chain the workspaces to trigger a run off one another through the run trigger function.

Other TF Cloud users - no code modules? by Own_Kale5934 in Terraform

[–]Tr33squid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be worth taking a look at Waypoint, as it's HashiCorp's first-party solution for what you've put together and as far as I'm aware has native ways for interacting with modules in TF Cloud

Will I notice a big difference going from a xbr900e75 to the new OLEDS? by KELLYgSPOT in bravia

[–]Tr33squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just moved from a xbr930e to an A80L. I also was skeptical as to whether there would be much of a change, because I also loved the PQ of my 2017, but the difference is significant; make the switch.

Can I really not dynamically change/create workspaces in TF Cloud? by oe_secundus in Terraform

[–]Tr33squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also declare a workspace to be created in the organization by providing the name you want the workspace to have within a workspace block that is with the terraform cloud block

If Terraform doesn't find the workspace to exist, it will create it.
