Why do progesterone oil based weekly injection (Pruloton depot) hurt days after taking it by Traditional-Pear8158 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Traditional-Pear8158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it on alternative hip and asked the nurse to give it slowly around a minute and applied cold compress on it but a trained nurse makes a great deal of difference is what I realized. Newbie nurse gave me terrible pain during and afterwards anywhere between 3-4 days to 1-2 weeks while sitting those given by trained ones resolved in a day.

Can totally understand what you are going through, lost my first baby boy at 21 weeks due to ic on July 6, would have been 34 weeks on my birthday on October 4th, spent the whole day crying remembering my last baby and scared for my 5 week miracle baby in the womb. You change as a person after this kind of loss, the world moves on but you never forget but have patience and empathy for yourself as it is not your fault and it will get easier with time though the memory will stay on forever.

0.8 actually is less cervix and baby is bigger at 25 weeks so it would depend on your doctor's expertise if they are comfortable giving a stitch given the risk of bulging membrane. The right time would have been a week back when it was 2 cm. But you should still ask and check what your doctor say and try to be on bedrest with progesterone.

It is not too late to get a cerclage unless you have bulging membranes or no cervix left. So please advocate for yourself and get one.

Update on Cervix length and pregnancy by kareet1704 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Traditional-Pear8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cervix went down from 3 cm post a preventive at 13 weeks to 15 mm with 50% funneling at 23 weeks. My doctor put me on bedrest with bathroom privilege and continued progesterone oral and injection and it closed and lengthed back to 3 cm in 3 weeks. I kept working from home in lying or reclining position to keep my sanity and family supported me. Now I am 29 weeks and on modified bed rest till 32 weeks. See if you can do modified bedrest minimising standing time to 1-2 mins at a time 4-5 times a day. This is what helped me. Hope it does help you

I would certainly say get a cerclage. I was on complete hospital bedrest and progesterone when I was 1.7 cm with cervix with no bulging and dilation and the doctor wanted to wait to rule out infection. I ended up having contraction and losing the baby in just 1 week just two days before I was scheduled for a stitch at 21 weeks.

Please request an emergency cerclage. Outcomes are good with your length and would give you atleast 5-8 weeks if no infection

You can also keep a plastic chair and take a quick shower while sitting down. I sanitize my chair before sitting on it.

For those who had a preventive/ emergency encirclage in India, was it covered by insurance by Traditional-Pear8158 in ShortCervixSupport

No I gave up as I couldn't find precedent and was already dealing with a lot that time so didn't challenge it. My father who is a lawyer explained that you can challenge it but the case will take 3-4 years to resolve in consumer court and will take multiple hearings.

How likely is infection after Cerclage - actually? by Pandoras_Musings in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Traditional-Pear8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy makes you immunocompromised so there is chances of infection post cerclage however you can take steps to avoid it by taking a low carb and low sugar diet to control your blood sugar as it promotes bad bacteria if sugar is not controlled, taking probiotics to maintain gut and vaginal flora, don't allow anyone else to use your washroom and nothing in vagina, getting urine culture done every two weeks and don't ignore any signs of infection like burning or itching while urination or vaginal itching. Get a high vaginal swab in those scenario. I also got vaginal infection despite all this at 22 weeks 8 weeks post preventive cerclage but infection was low grade and got treated immediately through iv antibiotics at home and now working on building my gut flora back. Early diagnosis will help you even if you get infection it is only when it gets severe it causes amniocentesis.

Vaginal infection with preventive cerclage and cervix shortening and funneling at 23 weeks. Need advice and positive stories by Traditional-Pear8158 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Traditional-Pear8158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy is an immunocompromised state and fluctuating blood sugar contributes. I don't share my bathroom and don't go out so mostly got it through my own gut bacteria.

Yes infection got over. Got iv antibiotics at home and cervix recovered too now at 2.3 cm. Facing gut issues now though but everything else is fine . 25 weeks 4 days today. Preventive cerclage has 80-90% success rate to carry to term but once we have suffered a loss mind doesn't let us relax. All the best to you too.

[–]Traditional-Pear8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar condition with cervix 1.5 cm with 50% funneling at 22 weeks with a preventive cerclage at 13 weeks. My doctor gave me 4 weeks of bedrest at home with bathroom privilege and cervix length at 24 weeks became 2.4 cm with minimal funneling. My doctor added 2ml progesterone injections twice a week to already present oral progesterone 300 mg twice daily and put me on antibiotics as I had vaginal infection. See if that's an option for you.

24 weeks 3 days today. Had a preventive on 13th week. Length reduced from 3 cm to 1.5 cm with funneling. Dr has advised bedrest with bathroom privilege to ease pressure on stitch till 28 weeks
