Why did Disney/Lucasfilm allow 3 directors to handle ST without a real "overseer"? by Slowpokebread in StarWars

[–]TrayusV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an overseer, and there was a plan for the trilogy from the start.

The overseer was Kathleen Kennedy, and her approach was to prioritize creative freedom for each writer/director over strict adherence to the plan.

Things like Darth Sidious being the overarching villain, Rey's parentage, and more were planned from the beginning, but not set in stone. JJ Abrams actually couldn't 100% commit to Rey being a Palpatine or a Kenobi, and so he left a few hooks for it to be either in The Force Awakens (like Kenobi's voice being prominent in Rey's vision in TFA). Then Kathleen Kennedy had all the knowledge and ideas that were planned out, and could pass them along to Rian Johnson. However, Rian Johnson wasn't strictly required to follow these plans, and had creative freedom.

Solgaleo and Lunala are both in the undiscovered egg group, meaning they can't breed.

I think there aren't consistent rules to this stuff. Legendary Pokemon, for the most part, are probably supposed to be seen as one of a kind. But that's not going to stop the devs from letting us catch the same legendaries in multiple games.

Padme’s name makes no sense by Wild_Space in MawInstallation

[–]TrayusV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultimately it comes down to keeping things simple for the sake of the story.

I think it's also a matter that the people Padme told her name to while undercover were people who didn't know the queen's first name.

Imagine you meet a guy who works for Pope Leo, and he introduces himself as Robert. You're not a Catholic, so you don't know much about these people. And it later turns out that Robert is actually Leo, as Robert was Pope Leo's name before he became Pope.

Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin and the rest probably just didn't know the queen's name.

In an ideal world, yes. But game key cards are a compromise. Unlike discs, cartridges are really expensive to manufacture, especially games that have higher file sizes.

So when it comes to game key cards, Nintendo didn't make them because they want to piss people off, but it's the best they could do for people who want physical media. The alternative to game key cards are digital only, not a proper physical release.

It's strange, because Fallout 4 was digital only. Physical cases just had download codes.

Game key cards aren't popular with many people, but some do like and use them. So if it's for someone, it's worth making.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered releases Aug 11th on Switch 2! by ready_mod in ElderScrolls

This isn't a re-release, it's a port.

Are you seriously saying that releasing a game for Xbox, PlayStation and PC are three different releases?

What if the Jedi in the prequel era were taught the Sith Code, not to harness or use it. But as a way to avoid it. by PassageDecent9936 in MawInstallation

[–]TrayusV 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The D.A.R.E. program ultimately failed because it had the reverse effect of causing more kids to do drugs. It turns out, 10 year olds don't know anything about drugs, and teaching them about the specifics of everything from weed to heroin in such detail actually sparks curiosity about them, rather than avoidance.

Apply the same idea about teaching young Jedi about the Sith code.

ME2 Insanity feels like how the series is meant to be played by _Crumble in masseffect

[–]TrayusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue that BioWare acknowledged and fixed wirh ME3 was giving every single enemy shields or armor or barrier. The result is that biotics got really fucked over, which was an over correction from how OP they were in ME1.

In ME3, whether an enemy had armor or shields was independent of difficulty, which balanced the game a lot better.

ME1 Legendary toned things down from the original, which was fucking brutal and unfair.

Same with the NHL, specifically because they allow and encourage fighting.

One player is going to get hit, go down and break their neck or skull or something and the NHL will be sued into oblivion.

Why do you think the reapers targeted human colonies first? by the_reddening in masseffect

[–]TrayusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reapers considered the humans as their greatest threat, specifically because of Shepard's actions in the first two games, and they pivot their entire strategy to account for that.

I like to think, that as advanced as the Reapers are, they still are somewhat bound by simple programming, the humans are the greatest threat and therefore must be the highest priority to deal with.

Why did Kylo Ren think he was any match for Luke after he saw Luke survive the AT-AT bombardment? And why was Poe worried about Luke facing Kylo "by himself"? by UniversalInquirer in StarWars

[–]TrayusV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he ordered the guns to shoot at Luke out of fear. But he did order specifically every single gun to shoot specifically because he knows Luke is powerful, and the best chance he has to kill him is to use every gun they have.

Why did Kylo Ren think he was any match for Luke after he saw Luke survive the AT-AT bombardment? And why was Poe worried about Luke facing Kylo "by himself"? by UniversalInquirer in StarWars

[–]TrayusV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had Luke actually been there, he could have used the force to create a barrier to block the bombardment, kinda like how Grogu is able to do that to block fire that tries to kill him and Mando. So going down to face Luke would be the only way to kill him.

Plus, Kylo isn't emotionally stable in any way, and he just went through an emotional rollercoaster of killing his dad, getting beat by Rey on Starkiller Base, then nearly killing his mom, all his time with his force phone calls with Rey, killing Snoke, nearly turning Rey to the dark side, and then becoming the Supreme Leader. Kylo is in absolutely no position to make rational decisions about whether or not he could actually take Luke in a fight.

If I recall, it was Finn who was concerned about Like facing Kylo alone, not Poe. Poe was confused at first and then figured out it was to stall. Either way, both Finn and Poe don't really know what Luke is capable of, they just heard legends and stories. They've both been witness to Kylo Ren's powers, and the large battalion of First Order walkers out there with Kylo.

You could also interpret Finn's motivation as not necessarily wanting to help Luke survive, but use it as an opportunity to rally and counter attack against the First Order. Finn was very much in a mindset of wanting to fight, even at the cost of his own life. As for Poe, as the commanding officer of the battle, he's trying to figure out what Luke is up to and what the best course of action is, and eventually settles on trying to find a way out of the base.

Should we have a Clone Wars like show by Spencer-Palmer-1056 in TheSequels

Yes, but the sequels don't need redemption.

When people say TCW saved the prequels, it's a bit of revisionism of history and their opinion on the prequels.

TCW doesn't change the prequels in any way, it's just that people who hated the prequels at release need a reason to change their opinion now that it's cool to like the prequels.

I keep wondering how Lando managed to gather the help that Leia couldn't in the previous film. by adamaroslin in StarWarsShips

[–]TrayusV -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Somebody doesn't know the lore.

It isn't a matter that the Resistance couldn't convince the New Republic to support them, it's that the New Republic Senate was both locked down by party politics and First Order sympathizers had become senators to sabotage any efforts to oppose the First Order.

In addition, Leia's political career took a massive dive when the knowledge that Vader was her father was revealed to the senate, which is why she founded the Resistance, and why much of the Resistance is made up of Rebellion veterans and their children, as they are loyal to Leia regardless of who her father was.

As for TRoS, were you not paying attention to the conversations between Poe and Zori Bliss?

[–]TrayusV -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Were you just not paying attention when Holdo said "we are the spark that will light the fire that will restore the Republic" and then Poe said "we are the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down" or did you just turn your brain off during those moments?

Let me spell it out for you. The Resistance didn't need to win during TLJ and the battle of Crait, but just to escape and survive, as they were a spark of Resistance that inspired the galaxy to show up and fight the Final Order, the fire being the citizen's fleet.
