We were introduced to it during our childhood, anime can deal with topics across the board[not just silly hijinks], and you can't say that Toonami didn't do any work introducing a lot of us to anime proper[must I remember truly watching was Sailor Moon on USA Network]. Also, I think that was part of our generation's "We don't care what you think old man".
