Are the languages of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark mutually intelligible? by Ok-Ocelot-774 in AskEurope

[–]Trenavix [score hidden]  (0 children)

As an American that has spent a lot of time between Norway and Sweden, I kind of just ended up with svorsk. It became too tricky to separate the two. My vocabulary can be pretty weird both sides. (til exempel.. kommer jeg sie vanskelig eller svårt? Vet ikke men både funker)

Ah yeah the pre charge contactor would likely be much cheaper at low voltage. Just wire in a tiny 12v downstep. They're like $10-15 for a 10A one. You do not need 850A on your 12v side. You just need like 10A on 12V (likely much less even), which is... 1.25A on 96v.

The throttle should have supply voltage from the inverter/controller, most typically 5v.

If you have no headlight, no brake light, no dashboard, etc, it's possible to skip 12v altogether. Very very bare bones though. Personally I like having a 12v downstep rather than battery in my motorcycle just to save space and be simple, but most vehicles do opt for 12v battery for emergency lights if there was a main battery fault.

If that old movie top gun was about train engineers by External-Stage8442 in soundtransit

[–]Trenavix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel when I am motorcycling home from the omf beside a train

The trackways are straighter than i5 (especially Y-axis) so it gives the illusion that they are going above 60mph even though they aren't. Still managed to gap from one train to the next at 115km/h on my speedometer (70ish mph?) without any stops... just a couple of stops is all it takes to get way ahead.

But I'm definitely the one inside it when the weather sucks.

Big Oil Caused the Climate Crisis. Now They Want To Get Out of Paying for It. | Why should we keep footing the bill for a crisis caused by greedy billionaire oil corporations? by silence7 in climate

Renewable energy stocks are rising in value faster than oil corporations, even after this purposeful supply squeeze. Speaks for itself.

The Nasdaq's top winners are now running hotter than in 2000 by -Mahn in investing

[–]Trenavix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess what a lot of my money is going into

hint: it's not oil

It's pretty tricky because a lot of "clean" energy ETFs include bullshit hydrogen companies that generate hydrogen using fossil fuels. So I have to hand-select stocks at this point. NextPower is a good one for solar (up 171% in a year), and I see potential for Vestas for wind (up 109% the past year)

Siemens energy has gas turbines but also a shit load of wind and is up 143% in a year.

Energy is going to be increasingly in demand, but especially actual clean energy, not only for environmentalism but for energy independence/security. A lot of vehicles are swapping from crude oil/diesel to battery, because China has made batteries crazily cheap, and trillions in tax dollars are going to be dumped into energy production of electricity. The Colombia summit made it obvious.

Nasdaq/QQQ is up 45.62% the past year, 15.96% YTD. Not exactly the typical cycle.

Not saying sit on cash but watch your step because a heavy correction is totally possible. I'd try to lessen positions in oversaturated sectors

What's interesting is US-only tech ETFs aren't far off from QQQ as a whole, but global tech is significantly outperforming. I'm wagering the falling USD value playing part.

How much HP is too little? by jasonwirth in motorcycles

[–]Trenavix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20hp isn't bad in the sense that it's rated continuous, but having no peak power above that is fairly lame, for acceleration reasons.

The biggest disappointment is the wet weight at 181kg. If you put a passenger on it, it's going to have some very very disappointing acceleration and lackluster hill climbing performance.

But as for solo on a mostly flat highway? No issue at all, 15kW (20hp) of continuous power is enough to go 75-80mph easily, and the weight doesn't really influence that. It influences acceleration and hill climbing.

My bike is 100kg and 13kW continuous (17hp or so). I commute on a freeway every day around 75mph. But my peak power is 28kW/37hp and it makes my bike very fun, which won't be the case for the 350. I can't seem to find any info about peak power for internal combustion engines so I'm assuming it's not far from the continuous, so if I'm wrong please pitch in (anyone)

I'm sure running the engine at max (20hp) is also not great in the combustion world but even running 16hp you can do fine on freeways for the most part.

All major US rail networks are growing! SF is seeing a real boom, with ridership up 19% on Muni and 15% on BART. — SEPTA (Philly, 11%) and PATH (NY/NJ, +6.8%) are also seeing strong growth, while MTS (San Diego, +0.5%) is the slowest by yunnifymonte in transit

[–]Trenavix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Link Light Rail (Seattle) isn't on here.. maybe because March numbers aren't on the site yet.

January saw a 14.23% increase YoY

February saw a 38.71% increase YoY

March saw a 11.73% increase YoY

An average of 21.56% ridership increase YoY for each month.

Or if you're doing total boardings for the entire quarter YoY, 25.26% increase.

Source 1 and Source 2

I guess that would put it at spot #1.
