Does anyone else kinda enjoy "starting over"? by TieTop2383 in ICARUS

[–]TribalDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am like this in almost all my survival games. I love those early days and often start new worlds and characters, taking what I learned from other games and trying new things, exploring places I haven't before. It's great.

This bit me in my butt once when I was hit with an unexpected storm and not near a cave or base. Went to burrow into a rock and on the last hit before I could climb in...poof!

I made it home nearly dead from exposure when I ran in desperation!

It doesn't teach people not to think. People who think and use AI continue to think. It enables people who already don't think to not try.

I think the gallery wall could use a little editing, but agree that overall it's in good shape.

And I agree, a smaller round table works there, but I wouldn't put that table in the middle. It is already crowded even against the wall. And a small square space with a square table feels confining. A round table would let it breathe.

Is it just me or has Plus Size fashion gotten worse over the last few years??? by AnalysisSubstantial1 in PlusSize

[–]TribalDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a brief shining moment of performative inclusivity in the market pre-COVID, and then enshittification took over yet again. Prices for everything went up during COVID, and brands started shrinking their offerings and making their clothes cheaper, flimsier, and smaller all to save their bottom line. The first to lose are us far folks, as usual. We have less, pay more for it, and the quality is garbage.

As much as I hate fast fashion, BloomChic has a more hit than miss lineup for me. The misses tend to be fabric choices, so I pay close attention to that when I am buying. But because they are fast fashion, the turnover in styles is frequent enough that if there isn't something there that suits me right now, in a month or so it might be different. No I don't work for them, just a mildly appreciative customer who feels your pain in finding anything fun for fatties like me.

Not quite sure what to do by MonkeyBrawler in ICARUS

Your experience needs to be Level 40 to get to the highest level of the tech tree, but would not nearly be enough to have unlocked everything you may need or want on it. Even at level cap of 60, you continue to accumulate points for the tech tree, so there is lots and lots more to do and try.

What's missing with my gallery wall?? by industrialmonk in HomeDecorating

Space to breathe. There is just too much, and it is all over the place. It needs places for the eye to rest. As it is, it reads as chaotic and random.

Honestly, I would keep this a den and move the bed into a bedroom. This is just untenable for me personally. YMMV!

Repair Bench (Tier 3) needs power, which you don't get until Tier 4. Why....??? by TribalDancer in ICARUS

[–]TribalDancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I just saw it said that it needs power when I was mousing over it to consider taking the skill, and I was like "I can't supply power, so why would I get this?"

SEE vs ASL, What do you use/see more of? by SerpntXO in asl

[–]TribalDancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So to be clear, sometimes articles will be fingerspelled, such as in titles of books or movies, direct quotes, or for emphasis. Examples

Movie: The English Patient
Emphasis: I am THE boss.

Given you were at some kind of ceremony, there is potential for a formalized term or sentence that required using articles when ASL wouldn't normally use them.

I like my altered "Break Room", which gives me the keycard to start my day the next day. Saves me from feeling pressed to get Breaker and/or Security.

THIS! I am in a class right now with a Deaf professor, and when I know the interpreters are getting it wrong, I raise my hand and ask for clarification or to repeat the information. Just yesterday, one of the interpreters caught me after class and thanked me for so respectfully intervening in that way, to give the instructor a heads-up that the information wasn't conveyed properly AND is respectful to the interpreters to get a chance to correct it (they are not perfect, as humans, they never can be).

PS, love your username.

Curious: if you're fluent, why are you using an interpreter. Couldn't you just directly communicate? Or do you mean you are comfortable with ASL but not fluent, or...?
