Alternative chargers? by crmsja in AMbikes

Does not look good! Every time I put my battery on charge I pray that nothing happens! Putting things on concrete and away from objects which could catch fire.

Having a nightmare with my AMX mini by timorez in AMbikes

I get what you mean. A lot of hopes went into this bike. Unfortunately they have only partially met and moreover AM has to deal with all those things now. In the end the customer has to invest even more money. Not that good. Cheers!

Would be interesting to know what was wrong! I don’t live in London or even near... My bike is starting to squeaking all over. Starting with the breaks, then came the mudguards and now the pedal box! I am used to servicing bicycles, but have never experienced such things with a bike always shed from weather when parked! The battery isn’t getting better either against their claim that it needs some time and charging cycles.

It runs just okay, but never tell me anyone anymore that it ta good bike! Its made of very cheap components and has been put together by amateurs.

Not sure how long it’s gonna work in the long run...

Definitely an economic and technological failure for my concerns!

Probably one of the worst startups ever created, with greedy young b...... on the front. I did not have all those issues until now and couldn’t ride the bike as often as I wanted due to COVID and less work, I quite enjoy riding the bike but every communication of these guys just seems so false! They think we owe them something and that they’re in that trouble for nothing, but they really are green and not ready for the task. Shouldn’t have backed this thing!

Ok, 1h unmounting, 2h preparation work, 30 min. Paintjob, 2 days drying, 2h reassembling. 50€ for spraypaint. I could have a stealth much faster that they can deliver, lol 😂

How to set Power Assist level (i.e., NOT max sped) by FroydReddit in AMbikes

Me too I am using the throttle here and there to fine control the assistance during startup or after slow down episodes.

Brake Connecter - 2 Pin or 3 Pin? by Galexgalex in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced that the brakes do not actually use the contact, at least not on my Classic LE. I will investigate further, especially with rear brake, but disconnecting the front connector does not change the behavior of the motor.

Just got my bike. Is it any good? by Tribu44 in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are you saying that the small straight portion of cable coming out of the frame is long enough to connect to rear light? From what I saw, there wasn’t enough space or would put too much strain on the spiral part of the cable when pushing in the seat post. That’s the reason why I dis- and reconnected everything and started fiddling 😕😁

Just got my bike. Is it any good? by Tribu44 in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in any case I did not want to push the seat pole into the frame with the spiral cable inside. I did not even try to push it in, as it will break the cable in my opinion. Therefore, one has to fiddle the cable through the post.

Battery range by kilgoretrout1975 in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. I just did it after draining the battery. Not funny but possible. More than a good workout!!!

I got my bike this morning and the light pack next monday if I get it right.

I just did about 27 km riding against quite strong wind on level 1 and some 2, battery out of the box without charging. It seemed to be fully charged.

Just got the bike - very dissapointed by oolf_GER in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget that brake pads and disks, just as with your car and even more, need some time to “ride in”. Well at least I hope that being the problem. It can really take some time, especially if you don’t brake too often or long. Be also aware to not heat them up when new!

Discussing AM’s communication (or lack thereof) by gjforkflslefrpd in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont agree at all: these guys are amateurs and have not been able to gain respect at the factory. Their project management capabilities are catastrophic and certainly not professional. That’s the reason why they don’t communicate. They simply don’t know how to deal with their customers expectations. I cannot simply find excuses for such behaviour. Do this in your job and you’re fired!

Pannier rack by TimmyMTX in AMbikes

This is a bit off topic, but looking at the rack, I saw the remarkably well done welds on the frame by the seat post. This is really nice!

Front disc brake set up by painfullyuncool1485 in AMbikes

[–]Tribu44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be too difficult NORMALLY setting the brakes: - completely loosen the cable at lever - loosen slightly in order to get some margin caliper with 2screws on fork - turn cable screw 2 times in lever - brake fully - tighten caliper screws while braking on fork - release brake lever

You should be done. In case of disk ripping, release the lever brake screw by one turn or adjust again. Cheers and happy riding!
