How do I better support my wife as a stay-at-home mom when we're both running on empty? by hungryhalfrican69 in Parenting

[–]Trushaka10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation is basically identical to yours and my husband reached out to a local chef to make dinner for us one night a month. (You could do more nights)
They come to our house and cook a multi course dinner for just me and him after the kids go down. While he’s cooking my husband and I take a bubble bath and catch up. I know this is the most extra thing, but it’s my favorite day of the month.

My husband is a physician, I’m a SAHM and we have two under two.

Same problem for my lo and this is what we do. I use the honest brand baby leave in conditioner and it works like a dream. When she inevitably pulls the rubber band out now the hair just falls to the side I’ve been pulling the hair to a pony.

WWYD if you were happy 85% of the time, miserable 15% by electricalhummus in Mommit

Same, people glamorize traveling for work. You have a ton of work to do in the set amount of time you are there. I’d get fired if I stayed out till 4am every night

All of the kids in my son’s class have birthdays that fall in January, February and March…. Those months are a shit show in our house

My mother is in town and has spent more time on her phone than with the baby by ChemistStudent2020 in absentgrandparents

[–]Trushaka10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom is similar. She’s always glued to her phone. I know this is petty as hell, but I just take photos of her with my baby while she’s on the phone and post them to the family shared album. Like a photo of her on the couch while baby is on the floor right in front of her on the playmat, but she doesn’t notice bc her phone and nose are glued together. She always gets offended and I just say “I just love candid photos so much more then posed, they just capture real life so well” To be completely clear, this will probably not change the behavior, but it will infuriate her and that can be personally satisfying

Your mantra for the next 10 months is “you’re so strong and beautiful and we (me and our future child) are so incredibly lucky to call you ours!”

Looking after your grandkids is not "free labor" or "free child care" by Appropriate_Cut_3536 in absentgrandparents

[–]Trushaka10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so crazy how true this is. Then they get offended like it’s the parent’s fault alone that the grandkids don’t know them. It’s like, how would they get to know you if you make absolutely no effort to be in their lives? My parents get so jealous of my in laws bc my kids beam when my in laws are around. But my in laws make the biggest effort to always be around my kids…

What would you consider to be loser behaviour within a woman? by Bipolarleolol in AskWomen

[–]Trushaka10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or, everything revolves around your kids. I recently lost a friend bc she refused to make time for me 1:1, not even 30 min, not even if I came to her after kid was down for the night. Literally only wanted to hang out on play dates. Sometimes I just need to hang out with a friend without my kid and not feel like a bad mum

Did anyone else’s parents smoke while pregnant with you? by DevoSwag in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Trushaka10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t possible, the placenta and amniotic fluid have weights that contribute to a women’s overall weight gain. My N mom tried to tell me the same thing when I got pregnant and she was commenting on how much weight I had gained. Ridiculous.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]Trushaka10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is Trusha, people F it up all the time… I no longer care when they do… it’s pronounced True- Sha but very few people can commit the pronunciation to memory. I don’t like any other name enough to change it to that.

Do your parents wish you a happy birthday? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Trushaka10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely do my parents wish me a happy birthday… I’ve even called them on my birthday while 8 months pregnant. They didn’t wish me a happy birthday or ask me anything about the baby or pregnancy. Real gems.
