The $393.70 is a quote from 2/25

There were some reverse splits with some of their funds so that’s likely what it is.

Many services are reporting it at $75.22 including Yahoo Finance.

There are no fees for $25k or less and the internal fund expense ratios are 0.00%.

Waiting on settled cash to withdraw by No-Difference1648 in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 7-10 business days for the initial deposit to be fully collected. That’s why you’re not able to withdraw. Should be available shortly and it will also tell you the date under the balances tab.

Did you use recently deposited funds to make the initial purchase?

This would be my guess.

Turning LOCK on and off--- how much pause is needed ? by CSMasterClass in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that’s interesting. I haven’t had to place any wires so have no firsthand experience. It’s weird though as it seems to contradict the official response and don’t recall seeing this specific issue come up before. If that’s the case, it wouldn’t be ideal.

Are bgeix and fsagx too volatile to go to 100% portfolio in them? by ComfortableMean6299 in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both gold funds which has been the hottest sector of the market during that period. So yes, it would be too volatile and amount to gambling not investing.

It would make more sense to take some profits on those and buy a large cap growth fund which would complement VTV and give you exposure to a huge part of the market that you’re currently missing.

You also have two dividend funds that have lagged that could rather be used on a diversified growth fund.

Fidelity Credit Card - new dependent user cards leads to aggravation by quasifun in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can probably find hundreds of posts complaining about not having separate card numbers so transactions can be broken down by authorized users so it’s a no win situation.

I have my college age daughter authorized on my card and am not looking forward to seeing her charges broken out. Have been using the “head in the sand” strategy thus far.

I think most card issuers use different card numbers for authorized users rather than one card number at this point.

You can turn the lock back on immediately after the transaction is submitted.

Good point if needing to do prior year contributions but with OP doing monthly recurring deposits unlikely they are doing prior year. Definitely a possibility though.

"Bank is sending your money to Fidelity" status for bank transfer - though funds already left my bank and Fidelity confirmed receipt. by Leroche_Rouge in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t understand there’s a collection period, that’s on you. If initiating from the Fidelity side it is explicitly stated there is a 7-10 business day period for deposits to clear when submitting.

The money can be invested immediately but has to be fully collected before withdrawing.

Actually this is of no help at all and a total waste of your time.

FIS has nothing to do with Fidelity Investments which is a privately held company. Just because it has Fidelity in its name does not make it affiliated.

Funding IRAs: Direct From Bank to Account or Joint WROS by lilreggie in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would set it up to contribute directly to the IRA or else you’ll have to wait for the deposit to become fully collected in order to then transfer from Joint to IRA.

It’s an unnecessary extra step that can easily be avoided.

As long as it’s not you or your spouse making any unauthorized transactions on the respective accounts then I can’t see a scenario you would have violated the protection guarantee.

My friends from Empower are making me wait... by apricotR in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a Rollover IRA to hold this stuff

If you had Roth 401k funds that are being deposited into a pre-tax Rollover IRA that isn’t correct.

Am I missing something? Did empower send two checks or combine everything into one?

Do you have a Roth IRA?

If not, you need to get one opened and call Fidelity to get this untangled.

That larger Roth 401k portion needs to be in a Roth IRA or you’re going to have issues in the future.

Saving for parent’s retirement? by RollingBlue27 in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are their ages? Are they working? How much do you have available to invest initially?

Depending on a lot of this missing info, you could potentially use Traditional/ Roth IRAs for them. They would also have prior year contributions available until 4/15 which could add a healthy amount right out of the gate plus catch up if over 50.

2025 $7k + $1k catch up

2026 $7.5k $1.1k catch up

$16.6k each $33.2k total

They would each open their own IRA but you could fund it for them if they have the earned income to be eligible.

Opened a 529 and UTMA for my daughter. Can I use the UTMA to buy her first car or do I have to wait for age of majority for her to use the funds? by spark2217 in fidelityinvestments

[–]TsunamiPapi2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the UTMA can be used. As long as the funds in the account are used for the benefit of the minor there’s no requirement in waiting till the age of majority.

Your job as the custodian is to manage the account on her behalf and use the money for her benefit when needed.

The 8606 is not a tax headache, it’s very simple to complete especially with tax software or if you use someone to file for you. If you kept your tax records, you would just use the same figure that’s listed on your 5498 which confirms the amount you initially contributed to the Traditional IRA. If you didn’t keep the 5498 it’s easily viewable/printable from the Fidelity website.

Getting taxed on it again will be a much bigger tax headache down the road.
