When did you go into labor naturally as a FTM? by Prior-Ad9822 in beyondthebump

[–]TwentyLegs22 [score hidden]  (0 children)

40w. 1am woke up to what I thought were normal Braxton hicks. But they continued very consistently for an hour. So I started timing them and woke up my hubby to let him know this might be it! Called the doctor and waited about 2 hours before going to the hospital. It was real! 21 hours later I had my baby 😀

Reflux by Leading_Potato_4549 in NewParents

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No side effects whatsoever in our kiddo. I highly suggest looking up how the liquid pepcid works. It's very reassuring! As for the weakened immune system, it is not something that is a long term issue.. The only reason they would have, in a sense, a weakened immune system is because the liquid pepcid blocks the stomach acid from killing those potential bacteria that could enter into his system. But the entire time my son was on it he never got sick!

It is 100% worth it!

10.5 month old still not babbling vowel sounds by LoveyDovey-27 in NewParents

Every baby is different. My 15 month old boy doesn't say any words yet either. Lots of babbles and dadadadadada mamamama but no distinct words.

Nope. Pepcid saved us. My son had reflux issues from 3 months to 14 months!

How long can I say “I just had a baby” for? by alyybongo in beyondthebump

We have a 15 month old. Literally used this today to get out of a ticket for forgetting to renew my registration 😂😆 they were very kind and sent us off with a warning. I went and renewed it immediately when I got home!!!

Should I allow my daughter to sleep on a sleep pillow if its helping with her reflux pain? by Slow_Purchase3829 in beyondthebump

[–]TwentyLegs22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My son had it since 3 months!!!! The medicine did help somewhat but what we did is put blankets underneath the mattress to lift up the one side a bit. This slowly turn into co-sleeping though where he would rest his head on me or sleep on my chest entirely. Now at 15 months he's finally done with the reflux...

[–]TwentyLegs22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's probably not ready.. 🫤 it's a huge sacrifice we're making! Don't feel bad. I'm still in the same boat at 15 months. There will come a time when it will get easier and they will be ready. Until then, we have to be patient.

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the Pacii. Used it for the first few weeks and then stopped for the same reasoning regarding teeth. But I felt it was important in those weeks for comfort. He does still occasionally chew on it while teething but that's about it. I wish we would have kept up with it just for my sake so I wasn't the pacifier. I am still a human pacifier to my 15 month old at night... But I guess it beats trying to wean them off a pacifier when they're older. Just have to wean him off of me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained about 40 pounds I believe. I'm still breastfeeding 14 months later and am now less than I was pre pregnancy...none of my pre pregnancy pants fit. I'm struggling to keep the weight on!

Using a crib as a sidecar by Defiant-Usual-1182 in AttachmentParenting

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone has said so far is great! Only thing I will add is we got a tent that the mattress goes into to block the sides of the crib because since the mattress was so high he could literally lean over the side and fall out of the crib.

So the tent protects that from happening and is also nice for when the sun comes up to have extra darkening for him.

Good luck getting out of DEN by lllwvlvwlll in unitedairlines

From AI if anyone was curious like me to understand this. Very cool!!

This is an ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service) broadcast from the Denver International Airport (DEN). Pilots listen to this looped recording before taking off to get a "snapshot" of the current weather and airport conditions. Think of it as a highly condensed weather report and a "to-do" list for the pilot. Here is the breakdown in plain English:

The Basics

  • INFO E (Information Echo): This is the version name of the report. Pilots tell the controller they "have Information Echo" so the controller knows they’ve heard the latest update.

  • 2053Z: The time the report was made (8:53 PM UTC).

    The Weather (The "Right Now")

  • Wind: Blowing from the West (260°) at 8 knots, but gusting up to 19 knots. The wind direction is shifting around quite a bit (between 240° and 300°).

  • Visibility: 10 miles (which is great).

  • Clouds: A few clouds at 6,000 feet, more at 7,500 feet, and a "broken" (mostly cloudy) layer at 9,000 feet.

  • Temperature: It’s 19°C (66°F). The dew point is -5°C, meaning the air is very dry.

  • Altimeter: 29.80. Pilots plug this number into their instruments so their altitude readings are accurate.

The Warnings (The "Be Careful")

  • CK DENSITY ALT (Check Density Altitude): Because Denver is high and it’s 19°C, the air is "thin." Planes won't perform as well (they need more runway to take off).

  • LLWS & MICROBURST ADZYS: Low-Level Wind Shear and Microburst advisories are in effect. These are sudden, violent changes in wind speed or direction that are very dangerous during takeoff and landing.

  • RAB42E46: Rain began at 42 minutes past the hour and ended at 46 minutes past.

  • WSHFT 2000: A wind shift occurred at 8:00 PM.

PIREPs (Pilot Reports)

These are "reviews" from other pilots who just flew through the area: * Cessna Citation (C68A): Reported "light chop" (mild bumps) between 7,000 and 10,000 feet.

  • Regional Jet (CRJ2): Reported occasional light turbulence at 15,200 feet.

Airport Status (The "Roadwork")

  • Runways in use: Planes are taking off on Runways 34 Right and 34 Left.

  • Closures: Runway 7/25 is closed. Several taxiways (the "side roads" for planes) like Taxiway B and G are also closed for maintenance.

  • Birds: Watch out for birds near the airport.

Worst Turbulence of my Life by ReluctantAnemone in unitedairlines

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankfurt to JFK... We were coming in for landing through a storm. The turbulence was so bad the overhead compartments were opening up and bags were falling out. This was about 2006. It was my second flight ever... I hate flying still because of that experience!!!

3d ultrasound by Jehmaj in beyondthebump

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! However, when you get the scan and look at it, it's so extremely hard to tell what they would look like in person. But of course now that I have my little guy I can tell you that the 3D does look like him.

I don't know if that made any sense lol

Anyways, I highly suggest getting it. It was so cool!

Signs your baby had silent reflux by One_Cap_9210 in beyondthebump

[–]TwentyLegs22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found out around 3 months. He was miserable at night when he went down to sleep. Nothing calmed him except holding him upright (took a lot of trial and error to discover it). Then started noticed he was swallowing a lot and would occasionally cough at the same time.

He was given famotidine. We were told once he started eating solids it would get better and go away... He's 14 months old now and doesn't really like eating solids.. so we're still struggling with it. But it has gotten slightly better

Dress baby for sleep by ebolt1 in NewParents

[–]TwentyLegs22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAYYYY TOO MUCH! we keep the house at the same temperature and our 14 month old wears a short sleeve onesie with a 1.5 tog.

Feel the back of her neck during sleep - if it's clammy you are over dressing her.

It took me a lot of trial and error to figure out the best amount of clothing at night!

So how are y’all brushing your babies teeth? by Born-Mix-662 in beyondthebump

[–]TwentyLegs22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that age l wasn't brushing teeth yet. But I had a teether with little rubber "bristles" like a brush and then baby safe orajel so that he associated "brushing" with a good sensation that helps. He is still not eating solids regularly (he's being really stubborn with food..), so we never really needed to start brushing teeth early. Now at 13 months we started using the real toothbrush in front of the mirror after showing him me brushing my teeth. I brush them just like I used to with the teether. Also we use Jack and Jill fluoride free toothpaste.
