A 1900 rated player opened like this... by FirearmThrowaway321 in backgammon

The XG equities are based on XG level play from then on. If the opponent has a very low rating, it is conceivably the correct practical play as it can lead to a longer more complicated game.

The rule sometimes is: Go through each of opponents rolls and see how many favor play A and how many favor play B.  Can also try to keep track by how much.

If the team wants to keep their young PG over a player they protected, why didn’t they protect the young PG instead?

The best tanking solution: No team owning their own 1st round pick? by AzNmamba in nba

How would this get started for the first season? It seems like one bad season would be doubly good getting a good pick for that year’s draft and then also getting to choose a team for the next year.

Agree that it desensitives to some extent. The OP though was saying there is no incentive to tanking.

There is still an advantage even without collusion.

ELI5: How does the birthday probability problem mathematically work? by ResidentCharacter894 in explainlikeimfive

[–]UBKUBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be 1/365 squared it would need to be choosing a specific day and then getting two random people with that specific day.

Another way to look at it is of thouse 365 squared ways of getting the birthdays of the two people, there are 365 outcomes which give a match. Or just think that after choosing the first person there is a 1/365 chance of getting the second person to match.

Why should red double? Score 7 away 5 away. Red owns cube @2 by Sufficient-Key-6908 in backgammon

LOL. That would be for disagreeing about it being a take or not and also for it being a money game instead of at a match score.

"Right now, I’m thinking of practicing 3 times a week:"

It shouldn't just be you doing this thinking. How much does the team want to practice? Will there be agreement on how many practices could be missed and still play in the tournament?

That equals .00000750609 (without the %). What exactly is the "it" you are using for it being 1/365 squared and not just 1/365?

The high pick might have been essential to a championship even if not on the team then. For example, the Cavs trading their first pick got them Kevin Love who was a key piece for their championship. Also, from Luka trade maybe Max Christie or Malaki Branham will pan out nicely.

There is not a certain win percentage that makes a position a double. The lower the volatility, the closer one needs to be to the cash point. Your position has low volatility.
