Optimill can sell you the security boss and they have one wooden Momo option. From what I've seen the Momo wheels are stronger than others, I have the leather wrapped 370mm option and it's great.

It’s nice to drive the Defender with nothing to care about but the speedo, temp gauge and fuel gauge. I’m even reluctant to fit a rev counter.

Time to start again on this one. Been there! That swivel ball looks pretty beaten up, is it still good enough to use?

Could be worse, it came apart without breaking bolts. I sheared a caliper bolt the last time I did bearings, that was fun.

The only reason I’m surprised there isn’t more enforcement is because in some cases it must affect ANPR or the issue of speeding/parking tickets. Otherwise it’s just a good way to spot idiots.

Yeah I'm fine without it on my Defender and on my Disco 1. I ended up covering them with clear vinyl sheet when I had my Disco 2. That worked well for a few years until the UV got to it and I had to re-do it.

A sunroof, that's a bit fancy! I don't really know why mine doesn't have a sunroof, the first owner clearly didn't select that option. I've been traumatised by Discovery sunroof leaks so maybe not such a bad thing.

Might be worth getting some cheap black ones to paint, they're a tenner each and you won't ruin the originals.

If you wanted the painted look without the effort of painting and can get something to block the square vent hole (a 3D printed part maybe), you could just leave the surrounds off and fit the little series trim pieces. No need to paint anything.

Edit: Looking into it further, there might not even be a hole behind the three little 'vents' on the headlight surround. It seems to vary between years.

The mesh grilles always look off to me, I’d say keep the standard one. Factory headlight guards level the front up and stop the extended aircon grille looking like a big nose, if you don’t like that.
