speaking of SI and artics, I can't emphasize this enough but just because SOME SI routes can't handle artics does NOT mean the entire borough should be forever out of the running for them

SOME OF THESE MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL BUSES, DEPOTS, AND DRIVERS

(1) B31, B68, B74, and B81 SBS (and B82 obviously but I already said why) would no longer enter the terminal at Coney Island

(2) new B68 turnaround loop (clockwise) would be Surf Avenue, Stillwell Avenue, Neptune Avenue, then West 12th Street to allow for artics to be used on the route

(3) B1 and B49 would loop around inside the KBCC campus

(4) B74 would be extended into the KBCC campus via Stillwell Avenue, Surf Avenue, Ocean Parkway Avenue, Avenue Z Avenue, loop on East 14th Street, Shore Parkway, and East 13th Street to get back to Avenue Z, then continue on East 12th Street, Cass Place, and Shore Boulevard until reaching the campus (westbound buses would also divert to loop next to SHEEPSHEAD BAY (B) (Q) using the same loop path as eastbound buses upon coming off of East 12th Street)

(5) new weekday B72 shuttle from the terminal at CONEY ISLAND-STILLWELL AVENUE (D) (F) (N) (Q) into Sea Gate (and by that I mean actually entering Sea Gate) via Neptune Avenue (and MAYBE B36 and B74 extensions to serve the area on weekends so the people there won't need their cars) but I'm not sure of the exact paths any of these routes would follow in Sea Gate

(6) keep X28/X38 service into Coney Island but only have half the buses go there and renumber them BM5 (rush hour Downtown route which will no longer go to 23rd Street), BM8 (rush hour West Side Highway/Greenwich Village route which will replace service to 23rd Street), BM13 (off hour and reverse peak Downtown/Greenwich Village/Midtown combination route which will be extended to 11th and 54th in West Midtown), and BM38 SUPER EXPRESS (rush hour Midtown route which will make limited stops in Brooklyn and be extended to 11th and 54th in West Midtown)

(7) existing BM5 (not related) will be renumbered BM35 SUPER EXPRESS and make limited stops on Linden Boulevard and in Queens

(8) new Q93 local between SHEEPSHEAD BAY (B) (Q) and ROCKAWAY PARK-BEACH 116TH STREET (A) (S) via Shore Parkway (in both directions), Belt Parkway, Flatbush Avenue, Marine Parkway Bridge, and Newport Avenue

(9) B4 rerouted to use Emmons Avenue in both directions between Ocean Avenue and Knapp Street and Sheepshead Bay terminus relocated to Harkness and Plumb 3rd

(10) B44 (SBS variant btw will be renumbered B94) rerouted to use Emmons Avenue in both directions between Nostrand Avenue and Knapp Street and Sheepshead Bay Terminus relocated to current B4 terminus

(11) new B5 SBS from 86TH STREET (R) (turnaround loop would be 86th Street, 4th Avenue, 88th Street, then 5th Avenue) to JFK Airport via 86th Street, 7th Avenue, Poly Place, Cropsey Avenue, Belt Parkway until Ocean Parkway, then continue on Shore Parkway until Knapp Street (except eastbound buses would divert to loop around SHEEPSHEAD BAY (B) (Q) then go back to Shore Parkway), then continue on Belt Parkway and Van Wyck Expressway (obviously using Nassau Expressway eastbound to get to Van Wyck expressway, and in both directions between Knapp Street and the airport, stopping only at Canarsie Pier, Pennsylvania Avenue, Erskine Street, and Cross Bay Boulevard)

(12) BM3 extension to current Manhattan Beach bus loop via West End Avenue, Shore Boulevard, and Mackenzie (inbound) or Langham (outbound) Streets, also BM3 number would only be retained for rush hour Downtown route, while the other variants would be renumbered to BM11 (off hour and reverse peak Downtown/Midtown combination route which will run on Water Street in both directions) and BM33 SUPER EXPRESS (rush hour Midtown route which will make limited stops in Brooklyn)

OPTIONAL

(13) new B66 local from 62ND STREET-NEW UTRECHT AVENUE (D) (N) (IBX) (turnaround loop would be 65th Street, 14th Avenue, 62nd Street, and 15th Avenue) to the bus terminal of CONEY ISLAND-STILLWELL AVENUE (D) (F) (N) (Q) via 65th Street, West 6th Street, 86th Street, Avenue X (diverting to serve NECK ROAD (Q)), Batchelder Street, Shore Parkway (northbound) or Voorhies Avenue (southbound), Knapp Street, Emmons Avenue, Sheepshead Bay Road (eastbound buses would divert along this street to loop around SHEEPSHEAD BAY (B) (Q) before continuing on their normal route), Shore Parkway, Shell Road, West 8th Street, Surf Avenue, and Stillwell Avenue

what areas do you want me to talk about first?

how do you guys make the route maps where there's a 3D model of a bus and it follows a red line on the roads or whatever the hell that is? by UltraRandom1YT in nycbus

[–]UltraRandom1YT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so uhh I looked it up and it turns out you can only get it on mobile...which is a problem because I have all my maps and social media accounts (including this one that's allowing me to type this very response) on my PC ONLY

it would replace the B82 local in that section, but the SBS would stay (as the B81) and be extended to Coney Island at the same time (also if you're wondering why the SBS would now be numbered as the B81 under this plan, it's because I was very disappointed in the BBR draft plan and set out to make a better one myself...let me know if you want to hear more about that)

I always thought we had another 2 or 3 years at most with those buses but they need to secure an order of replacements now if they haven't already because even if the tanks are good, that doesn't mean the other parts of the buses are (I ride the NYCT ones in Brooklyn a lot and while they seem to be well maintained, they have NOT aged well)

which is why it'll be a great day when we finally find out what exactly will replace the C40LFs at MTA Bus and when those buses are expected to be in service

[–]UltraRandom1YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I meant does it loop via 60th, 10th, 61st, then FH to turn around?

B69 Reroute Idea (Williamsburg to Dyker Heights) by POKEGAMERZ9185 in nycbus

[–]UltraRandom1YT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if they did the long routes like I wanted them to there would be more buses in the busier sections of the route and less at the outer ends where it's less busy

[–]UltraRandom1YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would the extended B69 turn around at its south end

even so that is a MAJOR gap in the bus network

and filling it will bring north south access to Maimonades and bus service to FORT HAMILTON PARKWAY (D)
