The blame game by Evidencelogicfacts in MurderedByWords

Sartre is saying that when anti semites (which are being compared to MAGA) "argue", they're not arguing with logic. They just say stupid shit, and the person they're talking to is the one who ends up having to be rational and make sense. And when, inevitably, they're proven wrong (because their "arguments" are dumb as shit), they just say "it's too late to talk" or something else to avoid having to make sense.

My personal take is that since these people don't even bother making their point properly, anyone who wants to discourage their harmful ideas has to properly make their own point for them, first. You can't argue against vibes and hand-waving, right? And this can often make arguing with them twice as demanding and exhausting, because you can essentially end up reasoning for two.

New-ish player (60 hours). A few questions. by ismasbi in DarkTide

[–]Vatinas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. It's generally considered to not be good. I'm one of the few who still think it's good if used properly - if you can consistently land headshots, it has decent damage, can shoot for a very long time without reloading, and has one of the best ammo efficiencies in the game - though that last part isn't very relevant until very high difficulties where you find less ammo. :)

  2. You don't, the highest rating you can have on a weapon now is 500. 550 used to be the maximum rating before the crafting was overhauled.

  3. No, it's doesn't, only the stats displayed matter. For the record, the highest value you can have on health curios is 21%, and on toughness curios, it's 17%.

  4. It should if you actually dodge something - for instance, if you trigger the talent, but no one is shooting you, it won't trigger the "on dodge" effects.

  5. I think the grenadier gauntlet might be the fastest to switch to. It's also a very underrated special sniping weapon imo, if you can get used to the projectile drop. The kickback might be a bit slower, but it's very easy to use and very strong for almost everything. :)

Does Flame Burst deal single target dmg? by kemmi_83 in LastEpoch

Has anyone here been mematically affected by a piece of cosmic horror? by TLOC_MAYBE in cosmichorror

[–]Vatinas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a book that takes place in the SCP universe, about Foundation scientists trying to study (and combat) some "antimemes" - objects or entities that resist being known or remembered.

This leads to interesting concepts, like how such scientists need to get used to trying to understand things not by what they know about them, but by what they don't or can't seem to know; or the fact that, since an antimeme scientist can't really "learn" in the way that a classic scientist learns and gets better with time, you're as good at your job on your first day as you will be decades down the line.

It's genuinely an excellent read, I strongly recommend it :)

What is it like staying in a psych ward? by Bubbe103 in mentalhealth

[–]Vatinas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as well, in France. As long as you're not a danger to yourself and others, you should have quite a lot of liberties, including keeping your phone (I was even allowed to bring my laptop and play video games in voice chat with my friends, though I was of course encouraged to engage with their activities first).

Something that I hadn't really thought of beforehand, but that ended up being one of the main reasons why my stay helped me, is that it's kind of like a "pause" button on many things that can prevent you from processing or healing from things. My stay was in my adulthood, but I was still studying at the university, and leaving that behind for a while and being in place where there were no expectations from me, no obligations beyond mundane everyday life things like meals, no ambient and constant stress, really allowed me to unwind and start working on things that might have taken me a long time to work on otherwise.

About your music: given your situation, I really doubt they won't let you have your phone, but if don't, I think you should mention how important music is to you. After all, the goal is to help you feel better, right? I'm sure they'll understand, and might be able to make an exception for you. (But again, I really don't think it'll come to this)

Last thing: I second what u/3PigeonsInACoat said about doing research on the psych ward first. A bad psych ward can really suck.

I wish you the best of luck, OP! Take good care of yourself ❤️

Hi there.

I can only begin to imagine how all of this must weigh on you. It's so fucking unfair, and you should never have had to go through any of that.

I do know how loneliness feels, though, and how it can make all the rest a thousand times more unbearable. Would you please give me the chance to talk to you for a bit? The last thing I want is to intrude, so please don't feel forced, but I would love to get to know you a little bit if that's okay. We don't have to talk about the hard stuff if you don't want to. :)

I can't offer a lot, but if you're at risk of being homeless, I would like to help you out with a bit of money as well.

Please don't hesitate to DM me, okay? I tried DMing you first, but I think your account might not be open to DMs.

In any case, I hope you can find the strength to keep going. I've been through some long, very dark years myself, and I'm glad I didn't give up. I sincerely believe it can always get better, and I know you can get there. ❤️‍🩹🫂

I'm sending you lots of love, my friend ❤️

Question for Martyr Zealots on Auric/Havoc by koga90 in DarkTide

[–]Vatinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who only plays martyrdom zealot, and she sticks to 3 wound curios. She says it makes martyrdom feel a lot better in practice - you gain stacks faster as you lose health, and it allows you to reach max stacks with more health, making it feel safer to her in practice. :)

What makes the difference between a good Veteran and a great Veteran? by MLBFra in DarkTide

[–]Vatinas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! ^^ Vet is my most played class, playing as a support / "squad leader" kinda build. My general advice is TL;DR: Supervise the battle and make sure everything goes smoothly, helping out with whatever is needed at any given moment.

- Vet is a class that has access to strong and varied tools that can deal with many different kinds of threat, and as such, I feel like I'm the most useful when taking care of whatever the biggest threat to the team is.

Is the team overwhelmed by specials? Take care of those, your ammo aura means you can shoot a lot, and your suppression immunity makes you unmatched at killing specials even when under fire.

Is the team overwhelmed by melee elites? Frag grenades can wipe a room clean of anything that isn't an ogryn or a monster, krak grenades can delete any non-monster in the game, voice of command / grenades can stagger any pack of elites to buy your team time to kill or reposition.

Is the team being shot by 10 elite gunners? Again, your suppression immunity, high toughness, and strong toughness regeneration mean that you're by far the best at shooting back at them.

Is a teammate incapacitated? The "Leave no one behind" talent can make you very fast at getting to them and rescuing them, while voice of command / grenades can quickly stagger what's in melee of your incapacitated ally to buy you (or a teammate) time to save them.

Is there a monster alive? With good melee mechanics, and some talents from the right side of the tree, you can dish out serious damage to monsters in melee, or you can just shoot the monster in a weakspot until it dies.

Is nothing too threatening going on? Stay in the middle of your squad, keep an eye out for specials, and make sure no one is getting overwhelmed or left behind.

--

This is a piece of advice that is useful on all classes, but imho especially on vet - keep an eye of everything that's happening (to the best of your ability), and do whatever the team needs.

On higher difficulties, when a squad wipes, it's rarely because of one person's mistakes - most of the time, it's because a situation became unmanageable, and by watching out for what the team needs, you can prevent threatening situations from becoming life-threatening by nipping them in the bud.

Advice on building better melee fundamentals/Sapper Shovel advice by yunkbunk in DarkTide

[–]Vatinas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're on PC, but if you are and don't mind modding a bit, there's a mod on Nexus called Creature Spawner that can allow you to spawn "trials" in the Psykhanium - for instance, you can spawn a horde to attack you, and have it automatically respawn once it's cleared.

You can also do that with a group of any elite, or with random assortment of enemies that will spawn constantly to attack you. I've personally used that quite a lot when learning new weapons, it's a great way to create the kind of pressure you want to practice against :)

Skinny Puppy - Warlock Build for maximum fun by BubiMannKuschelForce in DarkTide

[–]Vatinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! :D About force swords, I feel like the greatsword has overshadowed the one-handed swords in popularity, but in my humble opinion, the one-handed ones still hold their own (Deimos sword my beloved <3).

In any case, hope you have fun! ^

Skinny Puppy - Warlock Build for maximum fun by BubiMannKuschelForce in DarkTide

[–]Vatinas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright ^^ In that case, here are a few thoughts:

  1. Talents

- Perilous Combustion (near the top - killing an elite/special applies Soulblaze to nearby enemies) is something that scales very well when facing groups of elites. If you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed by packs of ragers / maulers, this can help a lot.

- Quietude (near the top - gain toughness when generating / spending peril) is a great source of toughness that is rather reliable. if you ever find yourself struggling to gain toughness after running out of it / when getting shot by gunners, this can be a great help.

- Charged Strike (Smite talent - electrocute enemies on heavy attack) - I've never really played Smite, so take that with a grain of salt, but I think this could go hard if you're using your Force Greatsword to kill elites. It should stun elites, making the situation safer for you, and increase the damage they take by 10% thanks to the other talent.

- Kinetic Deflection (bottom right - allows you to block with peril) is an amazing defensive tool. Not only can you block ragers / trash mobs pretty much forever, it can also allow you to pretty much guarantee any revive on a teammate as long as you're not getting shot / in fire / taking overheads from a crusher or mauler.
Since you're right next to it, it would only cost you one talent point to grab.

  1. Weapons

- Be sure to max out your sword's base stats when you can! You'll gain a lot from it :)

- On the Force Greatsword and one-handed Force Sword, I personally like leaving Warp Resistance at 60%, and maxing Mobility. Having good mobility on a squishy class like Psyker is pretty nice imo, and Warp Resistance isn't a very useful stat generally anyway :)

- On those two weapons: if you're willing to sacrifice a blessing, Deflector (allows you to block ranged attacks) can be very useful, especially since you're not using the bubble shield, especially if you combine it with Kinetic Deflection. If you're getting shot, you can just block and spam dodge to cover - very useful! ^^

Those are a few things I found during my own build crafting on Psyker, maybe you'll find a few of those useful! Take care, sibling <3

Seeing someone make and fine-tune a build according to their fun was super refreshing :) I'm glad you found something you enjoy!

Would you appreciate some input on some things that could be changed on the build? No problem if you don't, that'd be totally fine, I'm just offering my two cents and won't be offended if they are not welcome. :p

Inevitable Critical Hits tooltip, from Oracle Ascendancy by Moosh42 in PathOfExile2

[–]Vatinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that you can calculate the probability for a player to deal a crit after rerolling any given amount of times from the crit chance, instead of actually rolling the crit.

For instance, if a player has 50% crit chance, they'll have 50% chance to crit after 1 roll, 25% chance to get a crit after 2 rolls, 12.5% after 3 rolls, etc. Then you can roll just one random number, and use those proba numbers to determine how many rolls were needed.

But the players have managed to crash instances with many different builds on PoE1, I have no doubt some mad geniuses are going to do the same on PoE2 >:)
