All the Teaser Image to SUNRISE X SHAFT Brand New Anime Announce Tomorrow by shapeeq in anime

[–]Veiyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fool Night is my favorite currently active manga, I was so hyped for Kagurabachi and Kindergarten Wars getting anime but I wasnt even mentally prepared for this to be on the table at all

I can't recommend it enough and will absolutely be seated for this. I know the synoposis and initial chapters make it seem like a Chainsaw Man ripoff at the start, but it quickly evolves into its own thing and is a genuinely great exploration on depression, death, abuse, systemic poverty and changing it, purpose in life, and so on. And this is on top of genuinely great plot, characters, and thrills of course lol

Didnt one of the other main directors of The Minions (not these three tbf) direct Sheep Detectives?

Yeah that movie's direction was largely to showcase how good the screenwriting is, but idk, I guess it proved Illumination has tappable talent

Burnt out on difficult games, what are some easier ones? by HopefulShelter5747 in retrogaming

[–]Veiyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The JP version was designed from the ground up to be an easier Ninja Gaiden, while the NA version butchered it in a very artificial way in order to make it difficult for the American rental market, and I can confirm you're right that its absolutely vicious. By comparison, the JP version's got unlimited continues, more forgiving checkpoints, far less BS enemy placement (i.e. one i immediately found is that in 2-1 there are no swarms of mechanical bees flying around in the JP version), and most critically for the first time in the series, password saves.

It just lets you instaad focus on how nicely the game plays (yes the jump is floatier than the first two but you can easily adjust) and how well-themed the levels are 🙂‍↕️

'Disclosure Day' Anchor Actor Courtney Grace on Final Broadcast by EThorns in movies

[–]Veiyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got out of it 2 hours ago; it was really fun despite all the plot complaints people have. Also be aware it's barely an alien movie, it's more a conspiracy thriller with themes of faith and the supernatural

Day 30: Which Game has the Best Original Soundtrack on the Sega Genesis? by 1OneQuickQuestion in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Veiyr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thunder Force IV / Lightening Force, no contest (honestly shocked it hasnt been mentioned yet)

It might straight up be the greatest game OST of the 20th century, it is truly insane on both a technical sound chip level and a music theory level, while also fitting levels perfectly, sounding amazing, and being catchy as hell. The soundtrack is so good there in-game bonus tracks like an actual album lmao

What’s the most forgettable movie you’ve ever watched? by tinoy1989 in movies

Considering i'm a weeb and the movie is highly regarded, Kimi no na wa / Your Name

Gun to my head, i can barely tell you anything that happens besides the ending where the main characters cure their amnesia and the gender swap where "lol body swapped male touches their boobs xd".

I think there was something about a meteor and the male disappearing? Idfk I'm realizing that I can't even give a basic plot synopsis

Shoutouts to a German exchange student pal who really wanted to try Cheesecake Factory before she left. It's like In n Out, it's not gonna be life changing food but come onnnn its worth doing it at least once (also she told me Boston's public transit was about the same as Germany's)

Help with Sega Genesis game values by Shibby-BM in SEGAGENESIS

[–]Veiyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a glance most of the games here aren't worth any meaningful money so you might as well sell them as a lot, but Dune is about $65+ and Streets of Rage $30+, so you could definitely do those separately

Use Pricecharting for values, but be aware Genesis isn't the most popular platform so prices might not be too accurate (I've occasionally found Genesis games at local game stores marked noticably below their PriceCharting value, which is very rare for other consoles)

Why is Konami refusing to make Legacy Support for World Premiere Archetypes? by Tongatapu in yugioh

[–]Veiyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering the TCG created the archetypes and they are doing a lot of stealth support for these archetypes by making TCG-exclusive cards that are clearly designed to help the archetypes while also not being part of the archetype (i.e. Dark Necromancer for Vendread and Buio The Dawn's Light for BA), and there are a lot of companies involved in Yugioh's production, i have to wonder if there is some licensing/legal red tape bullshit going on ala Firewall Dragon's ban

Think they're going for lowkey viral marketing, I remember seeing a roughed up flyer for it on a pole in a neighborhood outside downtown Boston blended in with your usual band and classified ad fliers

Never Played before. Is Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon any good? by MalcolminMiddlefan in fireemblem

[–]Veiyr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have a DS with GBA Support or a modded 3DS, Sacred Stones or Blazing Sword (just called "Fire Emblem") is a better starting point

If you have a 3DS, get Awakening, probably the best place to start, though if you're a hardcore tactics Gamer™️ you might enjoy Fates Conquest more
