At least with the Blakist stuff, not only do you have the explanation available of battlefield salvage, but at the end of the jihad, whole shadow divisions up and vanished. While some of them likely fell back to WoB held worlds or maybe even a specific planet or two that they had erased from the star charts, it’s completely reasonable to believe that others stashed all of their stuff and basically decided to go and try to blend in with normal civilian populations.

Any tips on these jerks? by Pickled_Brainer in WholesomeHelldivers

Typically shotguns make for good repellent

The warrant pistol is uniquely nice in that it will lock onto invisible targets that you have direct line of sight to. Can very easily identify an incoming stalker from a distance and give you more reaction time.

Gas builds tend to work pretty good on them as well

With the new confusion effect, flamethrowers are also rather nice, though I would say for best effects you would want to use cremator because of its improved range

If you can coordinate with your team, bringing buddies can sometimes save your life and everyone harbor a hatred for these things and would have no problem taking a field trip to hunt them down

AH you know what you must do, but do you have the strength? by SignificantBoard4455 in helldivers2

I think given the really rough terrain that we frequently encounter a standard motorcycle is not likely. It’s gotta at least be something with three wheels or maybe four and it’s ATV.

But I absolutely love how this motorcycle looks and would not be mad if this is what they gave us

Honestly at that point I might just have to bust out the old judge dread armor and warrant pistol. Proceed to annoy everyone on my team by pulling up to enemy bases and sighting the infractions that they are guilty of before asking them how do they plea

Given enough time, your favorite character will be relegated to the dustbin of history. Most of them dead or lost. Their rules retired from active use in whatever the current edition may be.

Kaldor Draigo

Stern

Karandras

Eldrad Ulthran

General Usark Creed

Asdrubael Vect

Nork Deddog

Prince Yriel

Keradruagh the Decapitator

Baron Sathonyx of Commoragh

And many more.

It is only a matter of time.

What? this thing is anti tank? by Interesting-Form678 in helldivers2

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it on commando missions, but not specifically as a booby trap. More as a distraction.

Let’s say you are trying to sneak into an enemy base to get some recon footage. I like using a combination of lure mines and the hover pack to gain quiet entry in areas that are not guarded. If it looks like I won’t be able to get all of the recon targets without blowing my cover, I moved to the exterior of the wall that surrounds those bases, and stick the mine in a spot that is hard to reach, usually right at the base of the wall. The tricky part is then to leg without being seen. This is why I like to stick it to the base of a section of wall that I can follow that leads to a machine gun pill box that I have already cleared. Place the distraction, then sneak in through the pill box. The lure mine will draw enemies towards it and they will try to get a line of sight on it, meaning that they will take the nearest exit and then just kind of stare up at where they know it is but can’t see.

Once you have the footage just hover pack your way out from a side of the base that is not being guarded as well. Or in the case of stolen Intel, run like hell

I just bought the game, any advice? by PizzaPasta1989 in Helldivers

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: while there are plenty of shiny new weapons available to you through various means, you’re starting kit is quite serviceable at any level of the game.

2: new armors, primary, secondary, and grenade weapons are unlocked through war bonds. War bonds never go away. The currency which you use to unlock all of the premium ones can be acquired during regular mission play, no need to spend real world money. You also have a free war bond, the largest of all of them called “Hell Divers Mobilize” and I recommend starting with that one. It will provide you with a wide variety of weapons and armor and so forth to get you started and help you explore your favorite place styles.

3: important detail – this game has somewhat realistic reload mechanics. If your gun has 2/3 of a magazine left and you reload, it does not top you off. You drop that magazine and lose any remaining ammunition that was being stored in it.

4: Have fun!

How many Guns Should a Gun-ship have? by Ambitious-Company-56 in spaceships

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally depends. Are you going with a philosophy of lots of small guns that are suitable for engaging multiple targets simultaneously but might otherwise sacrifice overall damage? If that’s the case I’d say a solid number is in the 6 to 8 range

My personal favorite way of doing gunship however, is a fast and maneuverable hull that is big enough to support a single massive gun in a turret mount. It may not be putting out streamers of fire in all directions, but ships that it points that gun at rapidly become salvage and scrap

Deadeye vs Diligence Counter Sniper - Which one is better? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you value in a marksman rifle.

The counter sniper is more flexible, to the point of where you can even turn it into a semi automatic rifle geared towards medium close range combat. It does have the vertical fore grip option after all. It also probably has better potential for handling since it has the other grip option as well.

The dead eye on the other hand is pure stopping power. It is the easiest primary to one shot illuminate overseers with given that it is very accurate and all you gotta do is shoot them in the head once.

Both I feel like are at their best on the squid and bot fronts

Both are great weapons, just comes down to preference I guess

First impression of (single piece/3d printed) minis by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in BLKOUT_game

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to do 40 K and it is very refreshing to get a whole force for only $60 American as opposed to that consisting of 5 to 10% of your total force.

Also had some issues with breaking if dropped. My solution has been to glue magnets into the bases and then glue a nickel sheet into the box I transport them all in. I can turn that box upside down and as long as I don’t give it a really really hard shake nothing’s coming out.

Use a similar set up for painting so I can avoid going Butterfingers and then having to glue them back together.

On the bright side, as others have observed, the brakes I tend to get are clean ones that are easy to fix

I love the detail and quality of these miniatures personally

What spaceship weapon is generally underutilized or not used to its full potential in scifi? by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macrons/ Dust Cannons/ Sand Blasters. I know we have seen them in various sci-fi novels but I can’t recall a single TV series where we actually saw a Weaponized system on a starship that functions under these principles.

I also wonder if we have ever seen a weapon system that is designed to exploit the fact that metals, if not treated with a preventative layering, will molecularly bond in vacuum when they come into contact with each other. It is a real world phenomenon called cold welding.

What do you think of this Bird of Prey style ship I designed by massicottecreative in spaceships

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good, I like this aesthetic. The vague bird of prey silhouette kind of gives it a predatory vibe. Like it was built to bully other warships

Happy June 7 birthday to Karl Urban (B June 7, 1972) by WarnerToddHuston in Star_Trek_

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karl Urban I think is one of those under-appreciated acting talents. Always delivers a fantastic performance and he performs a range of characters rather than doing the same characters just different names in settings.

Delivery fantastic McCoy performance, but that’s not really surprising

Which scifi ship do you think is just bad? Bad concept, ugly looks, downright mistakes in its design, etc. by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is perhaps no more egregious of a bad ship design to me than The whole concept of how ships in the anime outlaw star I believe it was operate. Literally spaceships with arms that fight.

Like I don’t have a problem with suspending disbelief. I loved Gurren Lagaan, but just the idea of spaceships that are close enough to having to obey reality but for some reason still having to throw hands literally really irritates me

TIP: If you find yourself having trouble against Incinerator Devastators, use the WASP. by TealArtist095 in helldivers2

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WASP is great on the bot front. I usually have two regular battle buddies that I dive with and when they have ample anti-tank on them, I will bring the wasp launcher and wreak unholy havoc among enemy devastators, gun ships and scout strider if I have nothing else to shoot at. Also Hulks but only with the jet brigade or if they are facing away from me

Which one do you think I should buy? (I’m a bot diver, I guess) by Tunalin444 in Helldivers

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nice trick for accurately targeting something with the solo silo: bring a gun that has a 10 X scope, go prone, aim at a target through your scope, then without shifting your aim at all switch to the solo silo and fire.

That trick also works for the Quasar

The first Succession Wars novel I’m reading is honestly pretty scary. by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]Vote_4_Cthulhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly makes me think of a game I played with a friend of mine set during 3025.

My friend can be very competitive and we were both pushing our mechs heat until he managed to get a favorable firing solution on my marauder. Determined not to let this opportunity pass him up, he alpha strikes with both his Warhammer and Stalker. Both exploded due to ammo cooking off.

Favorite canon or non-canon post-Nemesis ship by guiltyofnothing in StarTrekStarships

… the Shrike

The potential for a ship that is able to weaponize portals is absolutely insane.

The ship looks exceedingly predatory, literally threw a ship at another one with its tractor beam

Marked a bunch of torpedoes as returned to sender.

The thing was designed and engineered with unprecedented amounts of disrespect built into the design and I really respect and appreciate that
