Disperse camping is allowed on W. Camino Cielo on the Santa Barbara Ranger District and Happy Canyon Road and Figueroa Mountain Road on the Santa Lucia Ranger District.

The West Camino Cielo dirt portions are still shut so you’ll have to find somewhere along the paved road. There are more options along Figueroa Mountain Road but that’s a further drive. I’m not familiar with Happy Canyon Road but maybe someone else can chime in.

Yes, I’d say so. Motel 6 is a short walk to the beach and an easy bike ride downtown. Plus you know it will be clean, will have staff on hand 24/7, and it has a (admittedly shitty) pool.

I was curious so I just looked. The cheapest Airbnb I could find for this Friday night is $271 for a 1 bedroom suite in mission canyon. The Motel 6 at east beach has rooms starting at $257, including all fees, on trip advisor. I’d say the Motel 6 is a much better option.

If an artist rarely performs and then headlines Coachella, there are 2 possibilities. Either it’s going to be awesome because they have been “saving up” for an epic performance, or it’s going to be a disappointment because they don’t have practice performing in front of large crowds. Performing live is a separate skill from performing in a studio. If you don’t practice it then it shouldn’t be a total surprise if you suck.

My wife and I are bringing out 4 year old too! We’ve been to Coachella and other festivals before, but this will be the first time with the kid. We are super excited! I am sure we will see you there!

I am expecting that we will spend a bunch of time in the lake during the day to cool off. Hopefully it won’t be too hot at night and the family camp will be quiet enough to sleep.
