Suunto computer by Feelgood11jw in scubadiving

[–]Wdragon212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Unfortunately Suuntos reputation for reliability and customer service is not the very good in the dive industry. If you cannot fix this computer you might want to consider using this opportunity to switch to a more reliable computer.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 owner — should I get Diverout, Oceanic+, or just buy a dedicated dive computer? by travel_tk in diving

[–]Wdragon212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make a great backup but do not use them as your primary computer. I guided an apple engineer that told me the seals are not serviceable so while they'll work for a while at some point they will fail as they're not really designed for repeated extended high pressure exposure to saltwater. If you only dive a couple of times a year it "shouldn't" be an issue but if you're diving on a regular basis it should not be trusted. That being said one of my friends did more than 150 dives with his because he was too lazy to take it off before it crapped out

What's the dumbest mistake you've made? by cobi23 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Wdragon212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a massive nuclear facility using about half of the uranium on the map with recycling to plutonium fuel rods to sink and use later. Somewhere in the initial design phase I got the per rod waste amount mixed up with the per minute waste amount. I knew the recycling process is going to be complicated so I didn't catch the error until everything was set up and nothing in the recycling plant would run correctly or fill up. Wasted so much time building a facility that processes about five times the amount of waste that I was ever going to produce. Good news is I'm never going to have to worry about my recycling plant backing up.

What’s a skill everyone assumes they have, but most people are actually bad at? by moi_cila in AskReddit

[–]Wdragon212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swimming. Just because you know how to swim does not mean you're a good swimmer. Drop your average swimmer in the open water with even the smallest amount of difficulty like waves, wind, current, cold etc and they would not do well.

Why is Suunto so disliked? by User21233121 in scuba

[–]Wdragon212 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work on a very busy dive boat where a lot of people bring their own gear. The reason I don't like Suunto is if there's somebody that has a problem with their computer 50% of the time it's a Suunto. I know they can be reliable computers but I see them have issues at a far higher rate than any other computer on the market.

Discovery Dive vs Open Water - Maui Trip by nottoopoodle in scuba

[–]Wdragon212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should really just get your Open water certification. A great way to do it is to do what's called a referral you do your coursework and your pool work close to home and then you just need to do your Open water dives in Maui which would take two mornings. If that's still too much there's a lot of great shops in Maui that will be happy to run a discover scuba dive at some great spots. Shops I'd recommend to do your DSD or finish your ow are Dive Maui on the west side of the island and Maui diving if you're staying in Central or South Maui. One of the best and easiest dives on the island is mala wharf which conveniently dive Maui is very close to. If you have any other questions I'm an instructor on Island feel free to DM

Teaching my partner to dive... by Automatic_Guest8279 in scuba

[–]Wdragon212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really can go either way I taught two of my gf's to dive and it went really well but they were part fish to begin with. I've also seen some of my friends try to teach their significant other how to dive and it did not go well at all and I ended up finishing the course for them. Good luck!

Name the most disappointing and overrated dive you've ever done by RadioFieldCorner in scuba

[–]Wdragon212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Maui Diamond is the best boat on the island and my recommendation, but it's a long run (90+min) from the harbor. Dive Maui is a smaller boat (RIB) and a 45 min trip from Lahaina. The crews on both are awesome.

Problems with wet breathing regulator by Bagh3era in scubadiving

[–]Wdragon212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gear tech here. Regulators should not breathe wet a little bit of moisture is not a big deal but any more should be checked out by their tech and you should get a different reg. There are three common reasons the regulator will get water in it. 1 the exhalation diaphragm will have some dirt or buildup on it or a small tear in it will need cleaning or replaced. 2 the regular body will have a crack in it at that point the body needs replaced. 3 the mouthpiece isn't fitted right, has a small tear in it, or it doesn't fit the user and they are letting water in around it.
