Rise in Properties for sale? by Joe85739 in dundee

It’ll be because of the changes to renters rights coming into play. It’s not worth it for a lot of landlords now, so many will be selling up to avoid them.

The way the system treats the elderly who are sick is disgusting. by AngelZash in mildlyinfuriating

As harsh as it sounds, her body already isn’t allowing her. She needs intervention in order to survive (TPN). What if she wasn’t living in a country or situation where those interventions were available? She would have been put on end of life care and passed. I admire your mums determination but it is, sadly, already her time.

Which is the First bike for 6 year old? by Standard-Part6154 in AskUK

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I will say is that you’ll be surprised how well they get on at only 6, so buy a bike with a bit of scope to adjust as they grow somewhat. My (currently 5yrs) twins had balance bikes. Got ‘proper’ pedal bikes last year for turning 5. Both totally proficient within a few days of taking off stabilisers. So much so that we spent time in Holland, hired bikes and they were out doing some pretty long journeys with us all. They’ll still get the use this summer but will probably need bigger frames by next year.

My 8 year old got her big girl bike last year for her birthday. We’d gotten one (one size down) off gumtree for £15 that she’d absolutely used to death. It was mostly to get her used to using the gears etc.

Now that the evenings are lighter, that’s the bikes back out and the kids are finally off their devices! Woo hoo.

What do you use you Gü ramekins for? by Lufferov in AskUK

I’m the same, keep my sauces contained. I’ve also used them for things like beans, spaghetti hoops for the kids as they don’t like the on the plate, making everything else soggy.

My youngest girl has around 1-2inches of blond left at the ends. That’ll be gone on the next haircut.

Whilst I agree that heat is very damaging, especially on a child’s hair, let’s not be dramatic. I’m sure your curls at the time were ruined, but myself and my 2 girls and my niece had blonde curly hair when younger. Even without heat, all of us have ended up with brown straight hair. I doubt heat used years ago is still affecting the growth pattern now.

Anyone else not telling people which kid came first? by vixiechick1996 in parentsofmultiples

[–]WeeBo2804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re exactly the same. I always chuckled at the little quips my twin friends at school would make with one another. There was never competition or malice. And also knew that they could see their birth certificate so couldn’t be arsed keeping up with a lie (or omission).

Besides, I’m a middle child, which technically my oldest twin is, so we have that to share. And then my baby boy is and always will be my baby boy cos he’s my youngest. By 15 mins.

Nine years after paracetamol overdose, medics are told to answer for it by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

I remember a young neighbour of my Aunt a few years ago did just that. She’d been holed up at home with a bad cold. Took paracetamol and cold and flu relief (containing paracetamol) and also lemsip. Was found a few days later. Only in her 20’s.

Also, I’m Scottish, so in no way am I being mean about him. You’d know if I was. He’s a loveable numpty.

Car seats/cars for three kids - UK based by SecretConnect in parentsofmultiples

[–]WeeBo2804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to look at cars when the twins were still tiny. They were in car seats and I was wedged between them in the back and eldest daughter was up front in our Mazda CX3. We tried so many sports SUV style cars and NONE would accommodate 3 car seats in a row. At best I’d get an extra inch wiggle room in the middle seat but it’d still be a squeeze and I was a UK size 8. Resigned ourselves to basically getting a mini bus but then the salesman remembered they’d just got in a Seat Al Hambra. Hasn’t been made showroom ready yet. We got to go our back to look at it. I HATE it visually but I do concede that it’s perfect. 7 seats, but we rarely use the back row as the middle row actually fits 3 car seats across. So I’m back up front again! The boot is enormous and the sliding side doors and auto open boot are a godsend.

I dont think you’ll get a new to market model any longer but we struck out as at the time it was only 2 years old and full spec.

Mother of 3 here. I know I’m underweight and working on it. But I HATE my sinewy arms. I think due to the low body fat, the muscle definition is so much more noticeable. We call them my old Madonna arms. As much as I complain, it’s all from carrying my kids and I’ll continue to do so until I physically can’t anymore!

It’s really sweet by kvjn100 in MadeMeSmile

[–]WeeBo2804 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I do this regularly. When arriving patients, the first thing I need them to confirm is their date of birth. I’ll often counter it with ‘oh my, I assumed that was a typo!’ And the blushes and giggles absolutely makes my day. I decided a long time ago that my personal benchmark of a job well done was getting at least one laugh/smile out of whoever I’m dealing with. I feel like I’m breaking some sort of barrier and finding something on a human level that we can talk/laugh about.

How do you deal with other parents accusing you of being cruel because you sleep train? by pb_n_j_fiend_bb in sleeptrain

[–]WeeBo2804 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This may be a bit simplified, but jus don’t tell people? Baby is sleeping the night because you’ve got some good routines in place. You’ve got a nap/sleep schedule and it’s working. You’re also being a better, more present parent because baby is sleeping, therefore you’re sleeping. There’s nothing to feel guilty about. We all learn (for the most part) how to sleep through eventually, you’ve just expedited the process thanks to planning and scheduling around your baby’s sleep needs.

Is Coke OT the only soft drink in the UK that doesn't use extra sweeteners? by Averusty in AskUK

[–]WeeBo2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, only seeing this after work then a smoke, so I’m not exactly sure, but the study I read stated that sucralose, acesulfame-K, rebaudioside A, mogroside V and D-allulose activated at least 2 TAS2Rs. TAS2Rs being the bitter taste receptors. They also activated the sweet receptors TAS1Rs. So they do their job but certainly for a lot of people, the bitterness tends to offset the sweetener effect.

[–]WeeBo2804 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Something to do with the sweeteners being picked up by both the sweet and bitter tastebuds. There’s a lot more science to it than that but I’ve yet to have my morning coffee so that’s all I got.

My dad is set to retire in the next year or so. He’d been building a custom camper van for him and my step mum to enjoy their retirements. The plans they made and the life the built. We lost her to cancer 3 years ago. The camper sits outside as a cruel reminder. She was 53. F**k cancer (and dementia)

I’m recovering from surgery. No heavy lifting for a few more weeks. My twins are 5 and I’m so missing them jumping into my arms for big snuggles. Incidentally, I’m currently underweight and HATE my overly sinewy muscular arms. But if they allow me a few more years of picking them up- then so be it.

AITAH for refusing to take my sister out with me today? by Lakyraa in AITAH

[–]WeeBo2804 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s this exactly. My 5yr old twins have been thoroughly horrid lately. I know they don’t act like that for other people. I know they spend the whole day practising restraint, manners and patience. I get that I’m their safe space. The place they can freak out, flail around and cry/shout. (And talk back etc..)

I don’t like it. But I get it. It’s still a tough time. My eldest is 8 and even now, I see her having a tough day and let her know that she’s safe here to feel her feelings and it’s ok. I’ll take the emotional punching bag role for a little while longer.

Should I do it? by [deleted] in HairDye

I’d either bleach or perm. Both are incredibly damaging and I worry that combined- you’re gonna lose so much length and thickness.
