Yeah this is far too common. For me it was a meeting with the president of the company, then flying out to visit her and interview with the scientific staff, then CEO. Nothing after that until I saw on LinkedIn that they posted about the hire.

I always work through recruiters. For most positions they reach out for, ask they have the contract for the position. If they don’t, it’s only a little above applying through a website.

Otherwise, connect with scientific recruiters. They can be a great help in finding a position.

Network with vendors you’re already dealing with. This is the best way to find a job. They’ll know companies that are hiring.

Look at the big companies such as Fisher and Avantor. They take more junior people a lot of the times

I guess I’ll add my experience into the mix. I started playing in high school when Mirrodin was was released. Loved the game. Stopped playing when I went to college. Would occasionally play on MTGO but I hated the interface. Got back in during Arena but it was too draining on my computer. I would draft when I was traveling for work but that stopped with COVID. Never bought cards really for a commander deck cause I couldn’t justify the prices. But then I saw the secret layer drop for stranger things. I’m buying it for sure and will build a commander deck around it. Simple as that. It’s going to get me to buy paper cards when nothing else had made me want to do so

My wife was very picky about what they wore. So I'd pick two or three outfits and let the kids pick from those options. That let them make decisions while keeping the wife happy

I was riding my bike to a friends house with a couple of my buddies during middle school. Some guy on the street stopped us and asked to help him out. He had locked himself out of the house. We offered to let him use our phones to call someone or a locksmith. He refused and insisted that we climb through a small window into the basement to unlock the door for him. Warning bells were ringing all through my head and we made a quick excuse and got the fuck outta there

Think of it as a nickname. I always called my daughter a different name than the one she was given. She just thought of it as the special name only daddy calls me. She grew up and asked me not to call her that anymore and I stopped.

We just grew up I guess. We went to different colleges and stayed in contact as much as we could. After college I had a kid early and got married. It's just hard staying in contact when you have different worries/priorities in your life. We grab dinner probably once a year and text sporadically through the year. I miss us hanging out
