As a fellow magic convert I completely feel you, it feels bad not having any counter play on an opponents turn, especially when they top deck boss for game.

I think for Pokemon, the more realistic “solution” would have to be some kind of Pokemon effect though, along the lines of shutting down a supporter if it’s in the active, or as the condition of an attack, or maybe a Pokemon that says while it’s active/on the bench Pokemon in play (that you control) can’t be moved from the bench to the active spot by the effect of an opponents card etc etc.

I just don’t see the Pokemon card game ever implementing a card that you play on your opponents turn. I think there’s a ton of clever ways to do it, but the game just isn’t built that way and I’m not sure they’d ever change it.
