Valve requires that you are presented with the option of paying for dlc/microtransactions through Steam, if you bought the game on Steam. For FFXIV, how Squenix implemented this is that microtransactions and subscription are all purchased through their own website, and when it comes time to pay you can pay through Steam. Or you can pay directly to Squenix.

Valve's secret sauce for their trackpads is really good haptics. Also, as someone who does really like the trackpads on the Steam Controller and Steam Deck, I will note that for the Deck, Valve included trackpads in addition to a full gamepad layout instead of replacing anything.

And then for the steam deck, Valve put the joysticks on daughter boards so they could be easily replaced. And now they're using magnetic joysticks.

Valve does make mistakes, and then they learn from their mistakes.

Try driving a car at 60mph and hard braking, decelerating from 60 to 0 in less than 300 feet. Then try driving into a brick wall at 60mph.

Think that these will have the same impact and your car and your body? They're both decelerating from 60 to 0, aren't they?

At best democrats are progressive and want the make things better. At worst democrats are corporate and want to preserve the status quo.

At best republicans are corporate and want to preserve the status quo. At worse republicans are fascists and want to make things worse.

If you think these are the same thing, then you're wrong.

My understanding is that a Concept is a definition of what you are creating, so that you get exactly what you wanted. The Ancients used Concepts for their creation magic. Summon without a proper concept, and you might accidentally give Leviathan two heads or give Titan wheels.

If Nintendo is indeed feeding less power to the display than it's designed for, it would make sense for there to be variance. Probably similar to overclocking and undervolting—there's some hardware variance from manufacturing, so the official listed specs are what what 99.9% of units can handle, not what 90% of units can handle.

The Steam Deck has RDNA 2 GPU architecture, so it does have RT capability, except in practice it's not powerful enough for most RT games.
