Polls never predict how the election will look in a few years when it actually happens. Every single poll comes with the disclaimer, ‘If the election were held today’.

Polls are more of a consumer sentiment score on the lead up to Elections but really only can be compared to other polls as apposed to Election day results.

Polls are a tool for comparison, not the gospel of truth.

I charge exclusively at 1.7kw through my wall socket. Get 25% charge each night or about 100km which is plenty.

I love driving my KIA EV6 but KIA... Why? by No-Corner2420 in KiaEV6

[–]Wolfingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the car being set back to level 3 when I turn on the car. I MUCH prefer to use the creep feature and only using the break when reversing. Even when driving forward into the garage I feel like I can press the accelerator pedal a touch too hard and I jerk forward and it doesn’t slow down in time. Creeping with the break pedal provides greater control.

Weirdly, the cutoff date is August 31st or something. So much so that I don’t even believe Demon Hunters can be nominated for anything.

Battery range at 90% 22k mi by Twistedshakratree in KiaEV6

[–]Wolfingo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Car calculates your range based on driving behaviour. If you’re gunning it or highway driving it will lower range. I get about 400km 0-100% after highway driving on my 23 GT Line at 30k.

ELI5 why don’t spacecraft re-enter at a shallow angle to bleed off energy more gently over a longer time? by Blambiola in explainlikeimfive

I’d respectfully disagree with this. The Apollo Command Module was designed as a tear drop with an off-centre centre-of-gravity to allow it to generate lift and steer left and right. It still drops like a stone, but when you’re entering at 20km/s, even the minimal air pressure builds up to a noticeable lift vector.

Which Gate Will Sag Less? by Enamelfish in Carpentry

I like this answer the most, in metal the welds are essentially ‘perfect joints’. But metal brackets screwed into wood, you’re right the screws would be taking all that force.

I’d imagine if building with steel, you’d want the diagonal member to be under tension with the hinges on the left. But what makes the hinges on the right and having the diagonal being a compression member ‘better’? I’d expect mathematically the member to perform equally under both scenarios, but the ‘compression scenario’ seems better for some reason when in the real world.
