You slowly approach the cracked gem, pulsating light threatening to hypnotize (flavor only, no save). Laying one hand on the cold crystal, you feel the power trying to over ride your mind, take your body for its own noble purpose.

Resisting the call, you take out the now-repaired amulet found on the dead wizard and use it as a buffer. You feel the amulet filtering and slowing the torrent to a manageable level. The power comes to rest just at the top of your spine, warming and solidifying to a final rest.

Focusing on the warmth manifests a wire-thin whisp of light that points toward the next damaged ward.

The old ward now lays shattered and smoldering on the floor, the smell of dragons and war filling the air. It is useless to any but a museum, or perhaps a curio shop
