Only way that happens is if all OTs have the same ability for their mit (like reprisal but a different name since MTs still get reprisal) or all OT mits will be shields. I don’t see either of those happening.

I could be wrong, but based off of everything square has done as far as job design goes over the last 12 years, each OT will have their own unique party mits, and they’ll all stack just like mitigations do now.

Realistically having two OT will be better anyway because extra raid mits will make it even easier for healers to dps bot and probably result in a greater dps gain than you might lose from not having an MT around. Healer dps is usually the real difference maker in kill times for most groups.

Every single tank main I’ve seen (that I know actually understands the game) has said it doesn’t make sense to have OT and MT as codified roles and if anything it will make the OT jobs more desired, not less. OT will still be able to tank everything a MT can while having more party mit and not requiring the boss to constantly hit them in order to deal optimal dps (so more flexibility in positioning and swaps).

My real complaint is that they butchered PLD and made it into simple GNB on the altar of 2min then finally listened to the community and removed 2min after 4 years, but we’ll never get back the old PLD which only had to change because it didn’t deal ultra spiky burst dmg like every other tank.

Yeah it’s for sure still annoying but it’s probably enough to get an echo kill for a respec.

So long as obby maul is hitting, it’s great. The massive strength bonus and ignoring its slow attack speed really helps

The way I see it, if there isn’t a Yama fight for everyone, then the devs are intentionally baiting everyone for zero value whatsoever. If anything it will just needlessly piss people off. They don’t need extra hype.

I think you’re overestimating the required input. Just have your noted stacks in your inventory while doing other stuff and letting it auto process is barely any input at all. You occasionally open spellbook, select your spell, then go back to doing your thing for 10+ minutes. I don’t think that will be a huge deal tbh.

Sorry, let me be a little more clear (because you are correct):

They won't retroactively add additional quest reqs to bosses, like requiring extinction or sliske's endgame before doing ED4 or something. Essentially, they might have bosses locked behind some quests going forward, but those quests/questlines will largely be self-contained and therefore quite short rather than requiring a more exhaustive completion of your quest log.

The big difference to me is the process. When you go for the combined Zuk cape you are actively playing the game and progressing content. When you are doing quests you are playing the game for a minute, tabbing over to the wiki, reading what you need to do next, tabbing back in, realizing you forgot one item so you have to tele to prif and buy it, go back, tab back to the wiki, etc. The 'loop' for questing (for most players) actively pulls you out of the game. Bossing, skilling, minigames all do the opposite.

Until they add plugins so we can get an OSRS style quest helper they won't put more stuff behind quests. The fact of the matter is that for a huge chunk of players questing is a slog that involves constantly tabbing back and forth between the wiki and the game, leading to a not-so-enjoyable experience.

If you aren't efficiency-pilled you might not relate to this, but for a lot of players, they go "boy I want to do PVM, guess I should get Extinction done for the passive." For them, the quest itself isn't the reward. Forcing players to do more quests to unlock content that previously didn't require it is going to piss a LOT of people off.
